While spending the day in Kimmswick, we wandered into Pixie Clementine, and it ended up being one…read moreof my favorite stops of the trip. The first thing that caught my eye was an upcycled flannel with a vintage MTV T-shirt sewn onto the back. I had never seen anything quite like it! We learned that the owner handcrafts them using vintage flannels and old concert or graphic T-shirts, making each one completely unique. It was such a creative idea, and I loved seeing something you can't just find in any big-box store. The rest of the boutique was just as fun to browse. There were great-smelling candles, adorable ceramic mugs (my friend couldn't resist buying one!), essential oils, and all kinds of unique gifts and home décor. It was one of those stores where you keep finding things you didn't know you needed. One of the best parts of our visit was chatting with the owner's husband and his sister-in-law. They were so welcoming and genuinely fun to talk to. We even got to hear the story behind the shop's name. Pixie Clementine is actually their dog! There's an adorable photo of her behind the register, and they told us how his wife convinced him they needed a "shop dog." As it turns out, Pixie prefers hanging out at home, so she's more of a mascot than an employee! Between the one-of-a-kind items, the friendly conversation, and the family atmosphere, this boutique was such a memorable stop. If you're visiting Kimmswick, I highly recommend taking the time to browse. It was easily one of the highlights of our day.

My wife interrupted my frosty beer to show me a picture of a couch. I was confused as this was a new couch. "It's perfect and look at the price! ". After buying it we brought back a trailer to load. Not only did the owner Joe help us load it, he secured it with some wood and helped strap it down. Then he helped wrap it in plastic I brought - that was not good enough. He came back out with plastic warp and sealed it up from the elements. He truly went above and beyond. At one point his daughters needed peanut butter - after that crises (lol) he continued to secure , wrap and study the load until satisfied that we could make it home through wind , hail and storm. Well - it poured on us on the way. There was not a spot or moisture on the couch when we unwrapped it. Perfect ! Joe was all about being nice, helping others and making an honest living while supporting a wonderful family. He and his wife run a great store and are a treasure to be found.
