4.5 stars the only thing they could do differently here is snowblow the paths in winter to keep them passable. but it's a beautiful park, even frozen and all slushed-out, and if you have the right shoes you just might have the place to yourself, like I did today. several parking lots for entrance on either side of the lake. just come and let yourself unravel a little. bring your walking shoes, running gear, or your bike. enjoy the birds, the wildlife, the view. it's different every time. read more

Beautiful place to get in some exercise around the 7ish mile loop. They updated the loop so you no longer have to walk on the road and instead walk through the trees. The path is wide enough for people to pass you on bikes without you have to dodge into the grass. There are two buildings with restrooms available on the trail along with a nature center. You can rent different water sport activity there including kayaking and stand up paddle boarding. Its truly a great place to spend the day. read more

It's so beautiful here. There's running trails, boat rentals, picnic/BBQ areas, plenty of parking. I wish that the trails continued all around the lake. Eventually it just turns into the woods - which is fine if you want a minor hiking experience. read more

Feeling for the frayed rope just below the crest of the water, Kaitlyn took hold of the knotted end of the line and pulled the plastic paddle boat halfway up the shallow edge of the water. In a feigned invitation to dance, I lifted her hand above my shoulder as she tapped her shoe on the floor of the canopy before sliding into a bucket seat. This was all going as planned. We'd get out of the city, take in a bit of fresh air, and nap beneath the passing ducks hovering over Lake Galena. Making our way out to the center of the lake, we scanned the advance of the grey shoreline. It was overcast and slightly chilly that afternoon, enough to keep the locals from packing their kids and pets into the back of an SUV, and subsequently ruining our pursuit of silence. Thin crowds or not, a passing motorboat rudely broke our gentle drift, and set the hollow craft to wobble like a small town drunk stumbling his way up the uneven planks of a seaside boardwalk. Seeing how this all might break open the usual memories of New York with fits of cursing, Kaitlyn put her arm around my shoulder as glowered at the intruder careening across the lake. "Hey, don't forget. No matter our neighbors, this still beats spending the day listening to Susan slamming drawers above our heads. "Yeah." It's 5am. Dad knocks on our bedroom doors to hurry up, throw hats on, and come downstairs. Vanessa and I roll over and throw pillows over our heads in the hopes of buying just a few minutes before the singing commences. This is, of course, an act of futility. In my childhood house, there is no escaping the paternal alarm clock and the terrible jokes soon to follow. In his usual booming voice, Dad bellows his announcements and pop culture references so loudly the shades on my window begin to clap against the wall. "Wake-and-see. Up and See! Hey, Boo-Boo. How about a picanick basket? Kids, your paw ain't gonna miss the first bite this mornin'. I gotta serve us up some soft mackerel cause I ain't got no teef!!" When dressed, I find my father in the garage, bifocals on his lap, clumsily tying an arbor knot with his thick fingers. Releasing the tension on the line, the loading weights and orange bobber collapse on the concrete floor in a motion of near self-defeat. Between Dad's teeth is a loose hook already loaded with a rubber shrimp. "You sure they'll go for that bait?" Dad spits out the shrimp on the top tray of the tackle box and smiles. "No idea. But I don't want to waste any more time hitting up places for live worms." "Barney's sells night crawlers precut." "Yeah, but Barney's is 20 minutes in the wrong direction. Hold this for me, would you?" Dad hands me a dime bag filled with a few metal lures. I can't make heads or tails of any of this stuff. If you have loaded bait, why do you need additional lures? I don't dare ask as it'll likely become a long lecture about the art of proper pole preparation. Dad will likely test all his fancy new bait and lures out before giving up and settling on canned corn for the line. He'll then blame our lack of success on the "fake stuff," always good to have a prebuilt scape goat on a lazy Sunday morning. Besides, the real purpose of this journey, at least for my Father, is to set out a few folding chairs along the craggy ravine, watch the ripples gather along the lake, hear his kids laugh at a dumb joke, and cast at least one good line with what's left of his pitching arm. The act of catching a three-inch sunny would just be the icing on the cake of an overall perfect morning. Finally loaded with all our gear and poles prepared, we set out a first cast as the sun draws its arms indignantly toward morning. For a while it's quiet. My sister and I say nothing, just concentrating on our lackluster reeling skills. Dad maybe hums a little to himself. After a few minutes of relative morning bliss, a motorboat zooms by and throws our bobbers into a state of epilepsy above the choppy water. "God damned motor boats. They're scaring away all the good fish." Kaitlyn wraps her arm around me. We've been drifting for a while and leaning back to watch the passing boats and the family barbecue on the shore. Talks begin about staying at a hotel nearby. Maybe we can find a new town to explore and get a bite to eat. But first, we should return the boat and take a short walk around Peace Valley Park. There's more to see here than just the lake. read more

Wow - this place has become a lot nicer in recent years. Lovely, serene, landscaped with great picnic areas. Easy to find/enter as well. One HUGE complaint - awful, putrid port-o-potties. I'm not subtracting any stars for this because I went here very recently, at the very beginning of the season. Cleaning them may not be a huge priority at this time. read more

Boating, walking, fishing and biking are just some of the activities at Peace Valley Park. Scenic trails run approx. 6 miles around the lake. There is no swimming in the lake, I have heard rumors of sink holes or under tows. Kayak/ canoe rentals are available on both ends of the lake. At least 3 restrooms are stationed along the 6 miles lake trail. A few pavilions are offered for those planning events or looking for a nice place to rest. There is also a playground or two for the young ones. My trips to Peace Valley usually consist of running. There is a damn at the eastern end of the lake, there is a nice breeze from the lake over the bridge there at times. One of my favorite parts of Peace Valley is the nature, on my last run I saw wild grapes, rowan berries and golden rod. People are usually all over the trails so be diligent and share the trails. Sometimes I can be caught off guard but a bike rapidly approaching behind me, but if I stay to the right all is good. Overall, this is a nice park to visit. read more

Awesome park in so many ways. Beautiful setting and paved walking/bike trails that surround the lake for gorgeous views. Lots of places to picnic and relax. Nature Center is great! The fishing was spectacular the day my brother and I launched our two man bass boat there. We had been fishing Nockamixon all week with no luck and heard about this place....we caught 24 Bass/Perch in three hours! We will definitely come back! Restrooms were very clean, cleaner than most other parks I've been to. We did have to pay a launch fee, $15.00, but was well worth it since we caught so many fish. It's good for the season, so we'll try and come back this year. Only electric motors permitted. Great family venue! read more

This place is HUGE!!!!! Very easy to get lost if you don't know where you're going~ They should have better signs, or more information on their website to find certain places. Great place to spend the day, and enjoy nature, kid friendly, and just so vast, that there's so many things to do here~ Will come back again for sure~ read more

Great place for a wide variety of recreational activities. I'm a big fan of running on the 6 mile paved path that loops around the lake. Very family friendly with many amenities to use. Can be busy at times, but nothing like it in the immediate area. read more

One of my favorite places in the Philly metro area to drop our kayaks in the water. You can also rent kayaks, paddle boats and canoes. They also have a great walking trail around the entire lake and picnicking areas. read more

Great running/ outdoor path around the lake. It's a about a 6 Mike loop with some inclines and declines- but mostly flat. My only negative comment is that part of the trail is the road along the nature center. I didn't realize that at first and did some off- roading. Once I figured it out, I had a great run. There is plenty of wildlife to take in, but beware the geese, they will chase you if you get too close. Would be a great picnic spot on a sunny day! read more

Peace Valley Park is one of my favorite places to get away in the area. There are great paths to walk on, beautiful scenery and plenty of places to have a picnic. Such a great getaway right in Doyelstown. I would recommend doing the entire 6 mile path if you're able - you'll discover even more to love about the park! read more

If you walk around the entire length of the lake, it's a 6 mile walk. It's a great place to walk your dog, run, or just walk and enjoy some R&R outdoors. Peace Valley always draws a nice crowd on the weekends. read more

I absolutely love Peace Valley Park. It's beautiful and not overly crowded.

I want to have my ashes spread there. That's how much I love this park. I kayak, bike, fish and picnic there weekly when the weathers nice.

Went to this park for the 1st time with family friends. Enjoyed the amenities. Peaceful as the same implies. Only concern---no soap in bathroom. Water yes and hand warmers. There is even a picnic table on the water dock. How romantic! read more

If you're looking for a challenging place to hike, this is not the place, as it's very flat and not strenuous. But as its name suggests, it's very serene, relaxing place to go for a stroll either alone, with friends, or with your dog. I highly recommend checking out their well-kept nature center before or after doing the 6-mile loop around beautiful Lake Galena! read more

We are regulars at this gorgeous park. It's a very large lake with an enjoyable trail circling it. Lots of picnic tables n benches to relax. There's boat rental in the summer time which is our favorite. There's also a lavender farm at one end. A nice pet friendly park worth several visits. read more

One of my favorite places on Earth! Beautiful at every turn and full of life. I walk or run around the lake frequently and people are always smiling and enjoying themselves. They also have water fountains and bathrooms at several locations which is a blessing on hot days. The pond at the nature center always has turtles and frogs available for viewing and pictures. My kids grew up going to this place and still love it! read more

A friend had their kayak stolen from the Lake Galena storage area (storage area is all outdoors) this summer (2012), even though they had it tethered with a thick locked chain. The chain was cut right through. If you plan to store your kayak at the lake, you might want to take special measures so that you can have it tracked if it gets stolen. There have been several kayaks stolen. read more

I live across the street from Lake Galena in New Britain Township. If you are a runner, it is a great place to go for a jog in the early morning or early evening. The only downside is the fact that on the southeast side of the lake, you have to share the road with automobiles for about a mile. it can be dangerous, even though the speed limit is 25mph. Once you get off the road and back on the trail, it's relaxing and carefree. The trail around the lake is 10K or about 6.3 miles. At the nature center on Chapman road, the trail does have an 8-10% grade so be prepared.Watch the bikers going downhill in the clockwise direction. they gather quite a bit of speed as they head down. The best time to go for a little more peace and quiet is in the beginning of the week. Not too many people are there. The weekends ar fairly packed with runners, bikers, and walkers. read more
