What a wonderful get away. There are cabins to rent in the woods right by the lake and it is a perfect retreat from the world. Funny enough we ended up ordering Popeye Chicken for delivery one night and the delivery guy said this was the strangest delivery of his lifetime which illustrates maybe your want to bring your own food just incase the delivery guy gets creeped out delivering to a remote cabin in the woods lol. There are many activites in the summer time however we stayed one night and mainly talked without the nusainces of the world to distract us, just perfect if you ask me and definitely different from the normal things this world tries to throw down our throats whether it be advertisements or marketing 24/7. I would love to come back and explore more of the area and of course roast marshmellows by the fire pit which is outside every cabin just a few steps away from your front door. As always people SYOY!!!

I've been to parks across the country. This is still one of my very favorites. There's of course the lake. They rent out boats in the warmer months which I did as a kid and which I still remember fondly. There's a swimming pool which while not the cheapest is still much less expensive than Perkasie borough where I live which charges (get this) $30 per adult per day. Nockamixon charges $8 for residents $12 per non resident. It's cheaper fir seniors and kids under 42" are free. This of course may change so check out their website here https://www.dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/StateParkPrices/Swimming/Pages/default.aspx There's of course tons of hiking and fishing and everything else a park in Pennsylvania has to offer. But did you know there's a waterfall on the other side of the park? It's on 563. You have to keep watching along the left as you come from 113 or you might miss it entirely. Once you see it though you'll want to park and hike down to the bottom where the creek flows. We were there yesterday and saw several heron, a water moccasin that caught a fish in its mouth (See pics) and a very large fish which I think was in the pike family. Did you also know there's cabins available for rent? Also off of 563. You need to book them well in advance. I just priced them at $107.00 a night and $477 a week. Here's the booking site https://pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/Nockamixon-State-Park/r/campsiteCalendar.do?page=calendar&search=site&contractCode=PA&parkId=880422 This is one of the nicest places still around in bucks county. Please Don't mess it up.

Anyone who enjoys Lake Nockamixon or any PA state park owes a debt of gratitude to Dr. Maurice Goddard. Dr. Goddard was the head of the PA Department of Forests and Waters which eventually became the Department of Environmental Resources. He was in office for twenty four years and during the terms of six different governors (aka impossible in today's political landscape) and during that time he made it his goal to have a PA state park within 25 miles of every PA state resident. Although Goddard quickly improved the professionalism of the department by eliminating the political appointments, increased the number of college educated employees and got two voter approved bond issues passed he did fall short of his goal. Even though Goddard fell short of his goal he efforts greatly expanded the quality and reach of the PA state park system. One of the parks that was created during Goddard's tenure in 1973 was Lake Nockamixon. Today Nockamixon has got a lot of things going on. * Various areas of picnic benches * A swimming pool from Memorial Day to Labor Day (no swimming in the lake) * Six different boat launch areas along with available rentals * Fishing * Hunting * Biking * Mountain Biking * Horseback Riding * Educational Programs * Disc Golf Course * Cabins & a Hostel The one thing I find funny about some of Yelp reviews is where other Yelpers use words like remote or a bit of a hike because the lake is only a few minutes away from civilization in Quakertown proper. I mean if you want remote try some of the parks in Western PA because they are truly remote versus here where in under fifteen minutes you can be eating a Big Mac at a McD's, shopping at a grocery store or filling up at a gas station. The other thing that is noteworthy is that Nockamixon is large. The lake itself is 1400+ acres and the park itself is over 5000 so trying to see everything all at once is not possible and honestly why would you want to? There is so much diversity which changes a bit in each season that coming here year round is a perfect way to make use of your tax dollars for something positive because either way you're paying for it, so you might as well see what the hell is going on. Nice park, friendly fowl, great marina and beautiful lake.

Great park and lots to do. Beautiful marina and lake. Lots of picnic facilities. Well worth the drive for the serenity setting.

BED BUGS EVERYWHERE!!! This one already fed!
    Thyana D.

Discovered their BED BUG INFESTATION our second night in cabin #2 with my sister and I waking up to severe BITES. Totally freaked out we all scanned the rooms finding BED BUGS EVERYWHERE! The walls, crawling on the mattress, in between our sheets, and on top of our belongings. Even another online guest review in 2013, reported the SAME CABIN #2, FOR BED BUGS INFESTATION! The staff ONLY offered and provided the $150 rental refund, but I called the manager Jennifer, explaing how we basically threw away the majority of our belongings, and are merely requesting a $350 compensation to replace my daughters essentials: playpen, carrier, stroller; even provided them receipts... fair? Over a month later, back and forth with Management a final letter from the state, denying our claim. While my sister is left with physical scarring. (Pics attached) Do yourself a favor, stay somewhere else! Not worth the risk mentally, physically, and financially!

This park is beautiful and has facilities for all types of outdoor activities. You need to enter the park at the correct entrance for your planned activity as there isn't a road which goes through the whole park. The only unpleasantness is that the outhouses are rather gross. So stop somewhere before getting to the park to take care of those needs.

This is one of the finest parks with a Lake in Bucks County, PA. There is fishing and boating on the large lake as well as 5000 acres of scenic surrounding parkland to walk, jog or just chill out and enjoy the day. If you haven't been there, then go!

    Marina
    Karen S.

Gorgeous facilities, clean restrooms. Lots of picnic tables- the marina is beautiful- tons of boats. It wasn't crowded during the week but I bet it is full of boaters on the weekend. They offer kayaks for rent- very cheap. It was a great place for a picnic.

One of the off-the-path trails I found during the winter.
    Kelsey M.

This state park is expansive with a number of activities available. I am mostly into hiking, walking, and biking and there is a large network of trails to choose from -- some paved, others not. Many trails are perfect for families, beginners, and people of all ages. Because admission is free, this place can get a little packed on the weekends during the summer. But during the off-season, sometimes you can have this place completely to yourself! Perfect for finding a place a little off the trail and reading/writing for a few hours.

Is there a fee to enter the park and also is there a parking fee and can you fish off the banks and is there a charge for that?

No fee to enter park. Only fee for fishing is a PA fishing license.

PA state park, so you need to have launching permit or "boat registration" for paddleboards, though mostly no one is going to check.

I could have made an appointment for service at that time. I was told this when I picked up the boat in May. I picked the boat up early on the week and hiit 10 hours on the following Sunday. I called and received a message that they were closed and would not open until 11AM on Tuesday. I trailed the boat over 2 hours and was told the backlog was 5 weeks. I explained that I picked up the boat 1 week earlier, and they couldn't do anything. I got angry and asked to speak to the owner. After 15 minutes, I was told that he was on the phone and they would be able to setvice me if I paid an expediting fee. I told him to write up the service and was later told the expediting fee was $100 . What was was basically an oil change for a single engine Yamaha was in the neighborhood of $300. Total ripoff. On the way out of the lot, I went into the showroom, spoke to the sales manager, and told him of my displeasure with the level of customer satisfaction. That I had to argue to pay an extra $100 for what was about 1 hour of labor. He told me he had never heard this complaint before, which I find very hard to believe based on the fact of the number of Yanaha boats they sell. He told me that he would bring it up at his next managers' meeting in a week or 2. I asked him to email me the outcome of this. I never heard back. Stay away.

Those reviews hide a service department that's chaotic, careless, and defensive. After my experience, I'd call them the Jiffy Lube of boat service- fast, sloppy, and all about volume, not quality. (No disrespect to Jiffy Lube- a quick-turn model works for their services, not for marine service). We own an 18-ft Godfrey pontoon. On Oct 11, 2025 I dropped it off for five things: raise the trailer height (fenders too close to tires), fix a misaligned bimini top, repair the prop, winterize the Yamaha outboard, and do a full interior/exterior detail. They confirmed twice (by phone and again at drop-off) that they could handle the trailer work. It's even listed on my repair order (Photo 1). You could make a drinking game out of how many times they tell you how busy they are. I told them I understood it was a busy time of the year and to take their time. I heard nothing for two-and-a-half weeks until Oct 28, when they finally called about the propeller only. I approved a new prop and a trim-tab. When I asked about the trailer, they said they hadn't gotten to it yet- fair enough. Then, on Nov 6 at 8:49 AM, I suddenly got a call: "Your boat's ready for pickup." I asked about the trailer- "We're too busy." I asked if they could get it back in, as this was really the only reason I took it to them. Everything else was simple service I could have done myself, but I do not have a way to float the boat off of the trailer at home. They said they would take care of it. Fifteen minutes later they called back to say the manager told them they were too busy and wouldn't take it back in. The main reason I brought it there was simply ignored. When I arrived Nov 8, I expected at least a clean, detailed boat for the $495 charge. What I found was unbelievable: a boat dirtier than when I dropped it off, dirt outlines from old registration letters, water marks on the pontoons, and an interior still full of debris and stains (Photo 2,3,4,5,6,7). One cup-holder ring was missing that was not before (Photo 8). Even an employee quietly admitted it did not appear to have been detailed. Inside, the manager showed me a slip of paper that said "DONE" as proof it was cleaned. When I disagreed, he started getting defensive, saying that I "didn't understand boat detailing", "it's not like auto detailing" and they were "too busy." He finally dropped the charge to $180 for "interior only." By this point I was annoyed and let him know most of my frustration was from the fact that I expected all the other work to be completed properly, since they ignored my main concern with the trailer. I told the manager I could have done all the other things at home myself- I had them do it simply because it was there. His response was crazy- looks at me and yells "then why didn't you?!" He assured the interior was done and I trusted him. Only once home I realized the interior wasn't detailed either. I also checked the bimini top- they drilled new holes, but it still doesn't align correctly (Photo 9,10) and now has a tear in the fabric (Photo 11). Then I saw a $100 charge for two plastic clips I was never called about. The invoice shows "approved" beside every item, yet the only call I received was about the prop. Those clips cost $12.59 each on Amazon (I keep extras), and mine weren't broken when I dropped it off. So here's the reality: they ignored the main repair, did unauthorized work (still not fixed), returned my boat dirtier, damaged the bimini, and the manager was completely out of line and somehow gave a total of $1,662.85. Everything here is backed by photos and time-stamped records. Other Photos: Does not appear anything was greased (Photo 12), Details of work performed (Photo 13,14). For a business representing a brand like Godfrey, this is embarrassing. Highway Marine's service team prioritizes quick oil changes and seasonal revenue over craftsmanship or honesty. If you care about your boat, your time, or respect- go elsewhere.

I visited on a weekday and perhaps that made all the difference in the world. My experience form beginning to end was fantastic. I think one thing that seems to bother most people is the BBQ lunch. The BBQ lunch was apart of my package and when I arrived they were just loading the buns to be taken out on the river. I'm getting a little ahead of myself here but you'll understand in a minute. When I arrived, there were already several eager adventurous folks checking in, buying waterproof items for sale, collecting their water rafts and some even already on the water. I checked in with my Groupon and as directed, I left my keys - collected my Kayak and proceeded to the bus. Please note, the rule is, everyone must wear a mask until you're actually on the water; great rule as it gets crowded in the shop as well as on the bus. It keeps everyone safe. I chose the kayak experience which was awesome but the real fun is in a tube. After my journey down the river, I immediately purchase another Groupon just so that I could come back and have a tubing experience. So, back to the BBQ lunch. By the time I paddles my way down (a few signs for the waters edge for direction) to the BBQ shack on the water, they were still setting up. I guess I paddle too fast. I decided to keep moseying down the river as I had already packed a lunch just in case after reading the reviews about the BBQ shack not being up and running. Oh well, next time I'll enjoy a burger. Again, this is the perfect mid week escape. The ride outside of NY is quick and there's plenty of parking. Although it says Delaware tubing it's actually located in New Jersey; well at least the border between the two. I would recommend going early and taking as much time as you like in a tube with family and friends. I would also recommend bringing children as they will develop a lifelong love of being on the water. I'm a big fan now and I can't wait to return in a few weeks. P.S. I was told by my bus driver, they offer a fall foliage experience where they only allow kayaks on the river.

Unfortunately, our recent trip with a group of six was extremely frustrating due to the organization and scheduling. Our original time slot was changed because there were not enough groups, which we understood. However, our new 10:20 time slot was expanded to accommodate additional groups, and we were then required to wait an extended period for a very large group that arrived late. As a result, we did not begin rafting until after 12:15, and the safety review had to be rushed because of the delay. Throughout the trip, our group was repeatedly forced to stop and wait for the late group, who frequently fell out of their raft and struggled to follow the safety instructions. I estimate we spent close to an hour collectively waiting along the river. Even the group scheduled after ours eventually passed us, and we did not return to the bus until shortly after 5:00. I want to emphasize that Olivia, Bailey, Kristen, and Sid were excellent guides and did their best under difficult circumstances. My frustration is entirely with the organization and scheduling of the trip. Additionally, while this was outside of anyone's control, we paid for Class II and III rapids, but the river flow that day was approximately 820 CFS, making the experience much closer to Class I and II. I hope you will take this feedback seriously, as this experience was significantly different from the positive experiences that led me to book with White Water Challengers again.
