The worst. Only cashes payroll check amd only 1000 limit. Get lost!!! This is 2025. I don't know how you plan to stay in business.

DO NOT USE THIS BANK,THEY HAVE FAULTY SECURITY MEASURES IN PLACE. I had someone steal a check made out to a corporation and they simply signed their own name and cashed the check for thousands of dollars. Peapack bank failed to reconcile the signature with the payee. What was VERY upsetting is when you call the branch to rectify the problem, the DUMB lady just hangs up the phone on you hoping you will disappear. What bank considers an upgraded ATM machine an improvement in service when it operates like no other ATM. An example: First: The machine is slow and does not always respond to user selections off the touch screen. Second, the bank card goes in the ATM slot with the widest part of the card, sideways if you will, unlike any other machine I've used. No big deal but why not keep it like the previous ATM. Third, I requested a withdrawal of $400 as I usually do and not paying attention to an intermediate menu item that determines the bill size, I get four $100 bills. What business wants to break a $100 bill, especially if they don't know you? Went back to the drive-through and had the teller give me twenty $20 bills. I contacted PGB and expressed my disappointment with the upgrade, my only request as an improvement was to have the default bill size be $20, I'm not holding my breath. The majority of my interactions with the bank are via the ATM, big zero on the upgrade. The only upside is you can request $5 and $10 bills. Bank staff is great, the ding is against PGB's decision to "upgrade" their ATM without considering the impact to what is is used for the most. read more

I used PGB for a little over 10 years. This is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. Fees for absolutely everything, outdated website, faulty app, and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The tellers need better training. read more

Been with this bank since 2008. Started by opening my account in the califon branch. I have hesitated making a review because I thought I was catching everyone on bad days but everyday seems to be a bad day for them. Everyone seems miserable to work here, no one says hello or offers to help it is so bizarre. read more

Gosh I love this place! It's free biotch! FREE! I said! Free checking FREE savings FREE FREE FREE! The staff is the best AND they don't seem to have a huge turn-over - SO the person who took your money and deposited it last week? She's still there the following week AND she REMEMBERS YOU! Actually, no matter which branch you go to (Summit, Morristown, Far Hills, Bernardsville) They ALL remember you ;) No one pushes you to open anything. As a matter of fact, they give stuff away. This bank is horrible. Complete THIEVES. I opened up an account here after moving back to NJ...I opened it with minimum amount and then they began charging fees because it was a "dormant account." I explained to them as a full-time student and single father trying to provide for two kids, every penny counts and they still werent interested in returning the fees. It's the customer service that earns PG Bank a one-star review. Two episodes of pain: 1. One day the bank called me, told me they hadn't seen my mortgage payment for the current month, treated me in a very accusatory way. I apologized and told them I wasn't sure what happened because my mortgage is paid by an automatic payment from another bank. It turns out they HAD received the payment, but their back-office operations were so dysfunctional, they missed it. I had to go to the other bank and do all the work to investigate the issue and prove they were wrong. No apology whatsoever. 2. I needed some kind of proof that I had closed a HELOC from PG Bank. I just needed a simple email or letter. They told me they had 30 days to issue the letter, and that it had to go to some county office first before they would send me anything. They are all defensive and combative, didn't propose any simple solution to help me out. Why don't they understand that if the customer service interactions are so negative, the customer is going to go elsewhere? read more

Let me star by saying that I had two VERY large checks to deposit; one was a little bit less than the other. I asked my wife to deposit the smaller one at TD Bank and and the larger one at Peapack Gladstone Bank. The ONLY reason that I did this was that I have a moral/philosophical desire to utilize local small/medium sized businesses instead of large national/international chains as much as possible. In other words, we went out of our way to do this for what we feel are admirable/gallant reasons. We deposited both checks on Saturday. Both checks were drawn by the same person. The check deposited at TD Bank cleared and was available by Tuesday morning. I needed some of the funds from the check deposited at Peapack Gladstone by Friday at the latest or I was set to lose @$5,000 due to the loss of an early payment discount that expired on that day. I had not heard anything from either bank by close of business on Tuesday, so naturally I assumed that the funds at Peapack Gladstone would also be available by late Thursday/early Friday if not already. On Wednesday afternoon I received a call from a junior branch employee at Peapack Gladstone telling me that the check that I deposited was suspicious and that they were placing a hold on it for 7 business days after the deposit which meant that I certainly would not be available to take advantage of the early payment discount that was required by Friday close of business. I called the bank and stopped by the branch to no avail. After hours of work I found my way to the office of the head of Retail Banking Operations Anthony V. Bilotta Jr. a VP. The message from bottom to top was consistent - too bad, you are just going to have wait out the hold. Of course I explained the consequences of not being able to have access to at least part of the funds (5k) a very small portion of the check. I also explained that the person who wrote the check would be willing to show up in person with a valid drivers license and/or US Passport. Again, the response was too bad. I have read many reviews and gotten the sense that Peapack Gladstone only cares about customers with large bank accounts. Either that is not even the case or we are talking really really large bank accounts. I understand that the bank has a responsibility to protect itself and the person who wrote the check. But, if their reason for not paying it was that it was suspicous and looked as if it had been altered then wouldn't the person who made the check with valid government issued ID showing up in person either at the branch or at the HQ good enough to alleviate that concern? I guess not. The alleged alteration to the check was a line that went through the word "thousand" which was the third word on the check. All other aspects of the check in their totality support the fact that the line that passes through the word "thousand" is the cross on the letter "t" in the word. If the bank argues that in their opinion the line from the t that continues through some of the word "thousand" was some very weak attempt to void that word or the check in total I have another problem. Regulation CC requires that the bank notify the customer immediately of the hold. First, the teller mentioned the line to my wife. I would think that is when they noticed it, but even if it was later I only received a call on Wednesday from a junior bank employee. I finally received a letter from the bank on the following Saturday that was mailed on Friday. The Federal Banking Regulation requires that a notice is mailed the business day after it was noticed by the bank. I should also mention that the bank took the money from Wells Fargo on Monday. So, they have been sitting on it for a week. I made it clear on Wednesday how important these funds were to me and that I would be willing to present the maker of the check with ID. Mr. Bilotta made it clear that he wasn't interested in doing anything to help me expedite the process regardless of any loss that it may cause me. Again, this was a very large deposit. So, if you have everyday banking to do beware. It may go smooth for a while; however, when it comes down to it I found that I was on my own. There was absolutely no compassion or willingness to compromise or go the extra mile for me. VERY disappointing. I am closing all my accounts and making complaints to the relevant bodies. read more

They have the most ridiculous staff, you can never get them on phone, Looks like the whole firm is on vacation forever. They have 0 interest in doing business. Has Peapack Gladstone lost their minds, I have had a personal checking account with Peapack Gladstone Bank for the past 10 years. Last month I got charged $10.00 on my FREE checking account. When I called they said they changed their policy on offering free checking accounts. No mater what level of relationship you have with the bank. If you don't maintain $3000.00 in a checking account you get wacked. No over all relationship, no senior checking, no long term relationship, etc. I have different relationship levels with Chase, Santander, Sun National, PNC, BankAmerica, none of which charge a fee for my checking accounts. Most have larger foot prints area wise that Peapack Gladstone with branches across the US. Some even refund the fee that other Banks charge for using their ATM's. Not a very bright policy for a small local bank. I am still waiting for the Vice President of Retail Banking Anthony Bilotta to return my call.. Guess he really care about the banks customers. read more

I believe Peapack Gladstone Bank took advantage of my elderly uncle. When he was 88 years old, they convinced him to sign a Revocable Trust document appointing the bank as Trustee of all his investment assets. No family members, witnesses, or impartial notaries were present at the signing to evaluate his understanding of the documents before he signed them. In fact, the document was notarized 3 days after my uncle signed it, in another state, and without my uncle present. He also signed a fee agreement, which he later stated to his attorney that he did not understand. The Trust had no benefit to my uncle or his estate, but greatly benefited Peapack Gladstone Bank by appointing the bank as sole Trustee, giving them total control over his assets, and providing regular monthly fees to the bank. After my uncle's death, the bank used their authority to hire lawyers to administer the trust distribution and paid them from the trust (totaling more than $19,000), while they continued to take their full Trustee fee of approximately $3500 per month over the course of the trust administration and distribution. Additionally, and most shockingly, the fee agreement that my uncle signed when they executed the Revocable Trust document allowed for a termination fee to be charged upon my uncle's death! The termination fee totaled just shy of $100,000. My uncle and his wife were customers of the bank for over 35 years. The bank's actions may not be illegal, but what they did is morally and ethically wrong. It is my hope that this bank never takes advantage of another elderly client again.
