By pure luck, it was a full moon over Saint Louis too which felt a little on the nose in the best possible way. The rooftop is solid, a clear arc of the city that makes you slow down to appreciate the view. The space itself is exactly what you want at the end of the night. Open, relaxed and elevated enough to feel like a finale without trying too hard. The music was much louder than I'd prefer and not an artist I'd ever queue up for a mellow nightcap and it did sort of get in the way of the vibe. The kitchen had already closed, which killed the idea of a final nibble with our round of drinks. The bartender did offer the workaround of having DoorDash delivered to the bar but we weren't going to hang around that long. The Old Fashioned he put together was excellent, balanced and smooth. Just what I needed as my Fitbit clocked over 10k steps. As a final stop on a Loop night, the Moonrise works beautifully. You get the view of downtown Saint Louis in the distance, the atmosphere, the giant Moon doing its thing and a comfortable landing spot before calling it a night. Huge snack pantry for purchase with a variety of items. The room provided breakfast in the main lobby. Celiacs have the choice of Hard Boiled Egg, Fruit and Cheerios. The warm food items are all baked in a huge oven so cross contamination is eminent. The chef did say they have a separate toaster in the kitchen for Gluten Free items provided by the guest to toast. As for the room, incredibly clean, stocked and even had a small Swan Towel in the bathroom. The bed was super comfortable, fluffy pillows and was clean. 5 Star for the STAY & Quality 2 STARS for the Celiac Food Options- (Hotel Mgmt- add prepackaged GF items) Overall, highly recommended the hotel, but for my Celiacs- not recommended for breakfast meal but a quick bite of fruit and java! There is a $10/night fee for self/ parking, which is a bit odd. There are spaces right outside the hotel or in lot just behind it. I will say that I was unaware of the fee for parking (I just happened to hear someone at the front desk telling a guest about it). I always check-in through the app, so I often don't come in contact with the front desk staff. Once I overheard that conversation, I called the front desk from my room and the parking fee was confirmed. I had to give them a description of my vehicle and I the state of registration. Makes me wonder if I would have been ticketed or towed if I didn't learn of the parking situation. There should be signs or a note in the app notifying guests about your parking. That is my only complaint. Rooms were fine, the free breakfast was standard for a Hampton Inn. Worth noting: there was no closet in my room. I found this to be very odd. There was a full length mirror bolted over what appeared to have once been a closet. Luckily I didn't need to hang any clothes, but that was really odd to me.

The Lobby Lounge is an excellent place to unwind. There's plenty of comfortable seating, a sushi bar that adds to the experience, and an atmosphere that's both elegant and inviting. Even though the lobby was bustling, it somehow still felt secluded and relaxing. One of the things I appreciated most was being able to enjoy a conversation without having to compete with loud music or excessive noise. Service was exceptional from start to finish. We enjoyed a wonderful bottle of bubbles along with a bourbon, and everything was presented flawlessly.

Salad bar could've used more options for toppings. Boiled eggs served at breakfast could be diced for salads in the evening. Bacon at breakfast could be repurposed the same way as a topping for their baked potato night. Green onions are cheap and would've been a nice addition for the potato night. Just because you're on a limited budget doesn't mean the experience has to *feel* cheap too.

The public spaces in the hotel accommodated all our needs smoothly whether it was a meeting, breakfast, motor coach access, or a banquet (the rooftop event space was spectacular). The proprietors were accessible and explained their choices in the remodeling without being defensive in any way. Our stay here was one of the highlights of an extended weekend in St. Louis. Would highly recommend. Although the hotel is downtown it is not in the most developed area, but the quality of the operation made everyone attending pleased to have stayed here as opposed to some more expensive cookie cutter options in busier parts of town.

First of all, they don't offer a free lot and they don't have attached parking. Neither is a dealbreaker, but it honestly feels somewhat criminal to not have any signage near the front of the hotel directing you where to go. I had to drive around the building and pull over to google how to park here. Then I had to make a u turn and drive back around to find the surface lot. I THEN discovered that parking is $40 a day which honestly is wild. I'm not new to travelling and I'd expect $40 maybe at a garage in NYC or DC or maybe even Chicago, but in STL? Not even covered parking? Wild. After I parked I walked inside. It was a hot day so I followed some other guests inside the side entrance so I could avoid walking two or three blocks to the front in over 100 degree heat index. Well, it was a mistake as since I didn't yet have a room key I couldn't get to the lobby from the side and then had to ask for help. The person I asked was honestly a bit rude but he pointed me in the right direction and I found my way. Once at the front desk again, the person working was pretty cold, but I got checked in and then was gifted this weird little blue bag of halloween candy for being a Hilton rewards member. Honestly, this was the first really weird thing that happened, I'd recommend either not giving out random bags of candy at all or gifting something like a nice bottle of water, or something more elegant. It just felt really odd. Once I got my key I headed across what looks like an indoor mall space to the elevators and then up to my room. While the hotel lobby is spectacularly gorgeous, the hotel itself is pretty dated and somewhat run down. For the price I was thinking this would be an elegant place to stay but again it was just super inflated pricing. Once I got to my room I was greeted with a broken door lock, dirty dishes outside my door to be collected by housekeeping and a view of the indoor aquarium. Not having any actual natural light was the worst part of it for me, I could sit by my window and watch people watch the otters from a few stories up. It was so bizarre. The room itself was clean enough, though there were some areas that could have used a deep cleaning or updating. As for Union Station itself aside from the hotel? It's probably more of a 4/5 star destination as it has a lot to offer, but if you're looking for a hotel in downtown STL I'd skip this one until they do a big renovation.

The Fleur-de-Lys is the epitome of a luxurious getaway. While it is not likely the norm, the owners, Mark & Leslie, met us at the front door, quite literally inviting us into their establishment. It was simply the most welcoming manner in which to be introduced to this treasure and Leslie quickly engaged us with the history of the home and how she and Mark had recently become the owners. We chose this destination based upon the significance of the Fleur-de-lis to my love, a native New Orleanian. Given St. Louis' rich French heritage, the mansion was originally outfitted with four chimneys that feature the fleur-de-lis design and the pattern is repeated throughout the home. While we enjoyed a quiet morning coffee in the back of the property, a lovely shaded patio area, she noticed how many places the symbol was present. She actually made mention to Mark & Leslie that they could make an activity out of counting/finding all of the fleur-de-lis around the home. What a fun idea! We were fortunate enough to book the Tower Grove Park room, a spacious room fitted with a king-size bed and a two-person jacuzzi tub. There is even a 'fainting couch' for that extra French touch! The bed was amazingly comfortable and the decor and accoutrements were exceptional, right down to the pocket doors and writing desk. But a B&B is set apart by the fare served in the morning, and this is where Mark, a chef by trade, and Leslie, a self-taught baker, knock it out of the park. That morning's menu included a fruit starter, fresh juice, Leslie's home-baked sourdough toast and home-baked English muffins, and Mark's egg and sausage soufflés with country potatoes. The entire breakfast had us completely over the moon! We felt so at home that we wanted to clear our own place - so we did! The rates are competitive and well worth every moment spent here. There is parking behind the property, as well as across from the property, and each guest is allowed a unique security code so as to gain entry while you are enjoying your stay. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this getaway, and Mark, Leslie, & assistant Sammy made us feel like family from the moment we crossed the threshold. We'll be back - and you should give Fleur-de-Lys a try!

Location is perfect to venture out in any direction. We appreciate our stay at the Fleur-De-Lys Mansion, and highly recommend it as a destination stay spot whenever in St. Louis.

We would return here and just ask to be in a room that was not near the maintenance closet where the door was opened and closed all morning long waking us up every day. Avoid room 501.

Options included scrambled and hard-boiled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, cereal, bagels for toasting, and a waffle-making station. The breakfast staff was especially kind and helpful. The pool is small, but the kids loved it, and you can even see the Arch from the pool area. The hotel is conveniently located within a short walk of the Arch and just steps from The Dome at America's Center. Horseshoe Casino is also within walking distance. It was quick and easy to get an Uber from the hotel to anywhere we wanted to go. Overall, it was a good stay. While it wasn't anything extraordinary, it met our needs and offered a convenient location for exploring Saint Louis.
