Last weekend, we were here a reception and a few of tiles on the floor of the large hall on the main level were loose. One tile at the tail end of the buffet line was so bad that when several guests - including me - stepped on it, it would tilt upward and cause you to lose your balance a little. Someone pointed it out to the staff but I don't think they did or could fix it right then and there. I did also notice that some of the table covers were a little dirty. Not what you want to see when you're attending a semi-formal occasion. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect clean/white linens, especially when it's for a special occasion. At the buffet, the only silverware they had out were forks. I know most of the items are easily edible with just a fork but when you have items such as (very) bony goat curry, a knife would help get some of that meat off. I'm sure some folks - especially those with small kids - could have also used a spoon. I'm not trying to nitpick but I found it odd that you can't at least have the option of multiple utensils. I wouldn't rush here for a meal but wouldn't decline coming for another such gathering in the future.

The hotel itself is run down - in a great location with friendly staff. Nothing about this place has "wowed" me and the restaurant is no exception. Most of the front desk staff is just hanging out. My group sat at the bar and we asked quite a few questions about the menu - we do this everywhere... curious foodies! Waiter was not sure about menu items so the Rabbi came out and offered vague descriptions. I wanted a martini and the waiter was not a bartender so I had to WALK myself to the bar across the lobby to order my own drink and bring it back to the restaurant. What? The Mediterranean trio appetizer had good filling. Over fried and greasy. The Rabbi offered me a napkin to dab off the excess oil. What? Walking across the lobby to order my 2nd martini and carry back to the restaurant... Greek salad salad was well prepared with fresh vegetables and herbs. Lamb chops? Off the chain delicious!!! Lamb kebab presented on the skewer was fair and salty. There was only one other table in the restaurant - the service was slow and inattentive. Having to ask for things multiple times. There is potential here - it is unrealized.

The bridal suites on the second floor and main floor are really nice and clean. The waterways on the premise are always working and if you're lucky enough a swan will be there. We met with Pat twice before our wedding and he put us at ease right away. He simplified the whole process and made what could have been a very stressful day, easy as could be. He was exceptionally responsive, always one step ahead of everything and was able to meet any request (no matter how complicated). I have no idea how he does it but he made the whole day run so smooth and made it all look effortless. It truly felt like he went above and beyond and we could not be happier with everything he did for us. I could honestly write paragraphs about all of the ways he is the most wonderful maitre'd ever but I think I might exceed the word count. From the moment I arrived on my wedding day to the moment I left, Diana was there to make sure we had anything we needed. From delivering lipgloss and advil to bustling my dress and putting on my veil, she was there to help with everything. She always knew exactly what we needed and did it all with a positive attitude.
