They are not clear about what you are paying for. The clear program they have you pay $400 for what they said was 2 cleanings and 20% off the other services. However their prices are so high the 20% off is still more than other dentists. Also they tried to sell me on more than I actually needed as I got a second opinion elsewhere. I know all dentists are sales people just as this practice is. They are not there for your best interest. read more

Found this dentist office on Yelp and thought how is it possible that everyone gave it 5 stars! Could they possibly be that good? The short answer...YES! They are that good!! I came here to have a tooth checked out. I was hoping to have an appointment with Dr. Salem since she has such great reviews and credentials but she's so booked that I ended up with Dr. Gallagher. I was nervous about this at first but found him to be absolutely fantastic! He saw me right away and checked out the tooth that was hurting me. He told me I needed a root canal. They have a designated oral surgeon who does root canals on specific day. I booked the appointment and got in to have it done. The surgeon and and her assistant were excellent. Didn't take forever and I booked another appointment with Dr. Gallagher to have the crown put on. I went in for my appointment with Dr. Gallagher and he stared working on the buildup of my tooth to put on a crown. This takes 2 visits. He explained everything he was doing and put me at ease since I'm one of many people who are afraid of the dentist. Lol. One thing I pleasantly noticed is the way he treated his assistant. He always said please while asking her for what he needed. I've worked with a Dr. Before (veterinary) and never heard please or thank you from him so I found his kindness to be admirable. I'm so happy I got him as my dentist and I never thought I'd say this but I'm not even nervous about my next appointment. Wish I'd known about this place sooner. Their so fantastic and friendly here, even the receptionist was great! I'd recommend Dr. Gallagher to anyone needing a dentist. He's excellent! read more

I know most providers are motivated by their desire to help others, and I would even say that might be true about Dr. Teresa Salem, however, I think she may have overestimated her own capabilities in the course of treatment she recommended to and performed on my mother. Dr. Salem began treating my 81 year old mother in 2019 and at the outset, she seemed confident and caring. Over the next three years, my mother went through multiple procedures, recommended and performed by Dr. Salem, which were supposed to culminate in a comfortable, improved situation with her teeth. Dr. Salem actually told us the course of treatment she was proposing was exactly what she would recommend for her own mother! My mother endured painful extractions, root canals, crowns, and implants, and in the end, the work Dr. Salem did basically fell apart. My mother spent somewhere around $12,000 out of pocket (not including insurance payments). After a particularly painful infection earlier this year, my mother saw another dentist in the Pearl Dental practice who took an X-Ray and sent her home without mentioning that the "permanent" bridge put in by Dr. Salem was not only cracked, it was loose! This was when we completely lost faith in this group. After several attempts to reach Dr. Salem with no call back or any answers to questions about my mother's condition, my mother wrote a letter to Dr. Salem which was not answered. We requested her patient records and they were never sent. Her new dentist requested her records and they were never sent. We went as far as having an attorney write a letter and that was also ignored. We are now faced with having to pursue legal action which is so incredibly difficult, expensive, and upsetting for my mother who is now 86 years old and facing more dental work to salvage her remaining teeth. My mother is so discouraged right now. Dr. Salem told us she guaranteed her work, but she has not responded to our calls and will not talk to us about trying to work something out. Dr. Salem's LinkedIn profile shows she is currently a member of the ADA and I was unable to locate her as an active member on the Mass. ADA website. I would never recommend this practice, especially for senior dental care. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Salem for almost five years. I must say that she is the most dedicated, ethical, and skilled medical professional I have ever dealt with. I was among the first patients in the Boston area to have implants installed some twenty-five to thirty years ago when they were first introduced. The implants I originally had were designed to hold one tooth, but she was able to combine my old implants with the new ones she expertly installed and adapted them to attach a full set of top teeth. I was told by several dentists and larger implant firms they could not combine new implants with the old as the modern implants would not be compatible. She proved them all wrong and produced a great final product. I will always be grateful for the skill, character and persistence she displayed and would never even consider seeing another dentist. In addition to her talents, her offices are extremely clean and hygienic, and the entire staff is highly skilled and always pleasant, courteous and helpful. My experience has made me a lifetime patient. Do yourself a favor and check out Dr. Salem and Pearl Dental, you will never regret your decision to do so or your beautiful smile she will help create! read more

This Dentist office does not care about any of their patients, it is only about them making as much money from you as they can, for the services they provide. I will explain, last year I went to them to get a tooth extraction. I was not aware and never told that my dentist "who did take my insurance" does not do extractions. So they had another dentist who works in the same office extract my tooth. This dentist "did not take my insurance" which due to not taking my insurance cost me a greater amount of "out of pocket" money. They claimed it was their fault for not letting me know before the procedure and apologized. I was stupid for not dropping them then last year when this happened. Just recently I had gone into the office for a cleaning where they advised me I needed a crown to cover an old filling. They introduced a new Dentist, who looked over my teeth after the cleaning and advised me of the problem with an old filling. This time after I left the office I checked with my insurance and was advised the dentist who recommended the crown "was not" on my insurance. Once again I would have owed a considerable amount of money without insurance covering. When I called their office about my issue they advised me that the Dentist that I had, had recently retired and no other Doctors in the office took my insurance. I said thanks so much again for not letting me know they had no Doctors in the office that accepted my insurance. I also said goodbye, you will never see me again. read more

Going to the dentist really doesn't get any better than this..deserves 10*'s! Dr. Salem and the staff at Holbrook/Pearl Dental are unquestionably the best! A very modern, high-tech and highly efficient dental practice. You also don't have to wait in the waiting room - Pearl recognizes your time is valuable and is ready when you are! Historically I've been to some top rated practices in the area and after my dentist had moved, decided to give Pearl a try. I only wish was that I had done so years sooner! My entire family goes to Pearl Dental now and can't be happier. I was in need of some major dental restoration work and Dr. Salem went so far out of her way to accommodate - working nights and weekends (and on her scheduled time off) and the end result was beyond amazing and so much better than I ever could have imagined. In the few years that I have been going to the practice, Dr. Salem has continually modernized and improved the overall efficiency of the practice. The transformation we have seen has been amazing. While some might think that change is not the best, the change we have experienced has been positive and has helped to significantly reduce the overall time needed for procedures that from our experiences were otherwise significantly longer (and more costly) and much less pleasant. Dr Salem clearly has a practical grasp on current and advanced dental techniques (including pain mitigation) with an amazing staff who are all top notch skilled dental professionals that are all eager to provide a truly positive experience. TERESA SALEM COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL - I showed up to my six month appointment this week only to find out that my usual Dentist is no longer with the practice, as well as my usual Dental Hygienist of 20 years! I was never informed by letter or phone. This leads me to believe Teresa Salem is trying to acquire clients that were not originally hers. To top it off, the new Dental Hygienist numbed my entire mouth for a cleaning and I had to cancel all my conference calls this morning with my clients! She told me the numbing would only be for 10 minutes! Plus, when asked about X-rays that needed to be done, the prices were increased considerably. Clearly Teresa Salem does not practice good customer service or good business practices. In fact, I am suspect of her practice in general. What kind of professional DMD shows four women with hardhats and drills for advertising on teeth cleaning!? Not too bright (Pun intended). My first time visiting the office went so smoothly. I registered as a new patient at a convenient computer station and had the best, most gentle cleaning ever! At 25 weeks pregnant, she was extra mindful of my comfort level and sensitive gums during the cleaning. The dentist came in afterwards to take a look at my teeth and even did a neck and head check (which I've never had but thought was kind of cool and throrough). The dentist and technician gave me some recommendations for taking care of my teeth (electric tooth brush) and sent me home with a bag of samples and coupons. AWFUL..Pulled a tooth for me in July and I have been suffering since!Damaged tissue inside cheek with tools(permanent damage), fractured sinus,serious infection leading to surgery, possible nerve damage causing constant eye pain. I told dentist a few days after procedure that something was wrong and they told me it would heal, I told DR Salem a few days later something not right, terrible ear pain, eye pain, face pain, jaw pain (couldn't open my mouth all the way)and she brushed me off and said it will heal.I ended up a few days later calling my GP who sent me for CT scan and found serious infection in my sinus cavity in my face from the procedure. ENT specialist found fracture in sinus and infection lead to surgery.Still have eye pain and jaw still not completely the same. Damage to inside of my cheek I don't think will ever resolve, I have a permanent hole there now. Its been 4 months of hell and all over 1 tooth. I should have known when the girl who gave me the consent form laughed and said no one ever reads those when I tried to read it over! STAY AWAY read more

I had the pleasure the other day of going to Holbrook Dental for the first time. The dental assistant, Valarie, greeted me as I came in. After a brief "new patient" questionnaire, I went back to see Gina, a registered dental hygienist. She did a fantastic job diagnosing the condition of my teeth, with x-rays and a close look at every tooth. Then she did a quick but thorough cleaning, and Dr. Theresa Salem came in to go over everything with me. Turns out, I need a few fillings, and I decided to do an "in office" whitening procedure too, over the next few weeks. I was thrilled with the friendly, positive atmosphere in the office, and with the team that Dr. Salem has put together at Holbrook Dental - Valarie as dental assistant, Gina as dental hygienist, and Rachel as the office manager. Everyone I spoke to was warm and welcoming, and the great vibe turned a visit to the dentist from an unpleasant chore into an easy and quick trip. I'm looking forward to future visits! read more

Absolutely love this place! Theresa does an unbelievable job. I have never had a cavity filled and not had pain after until I came here! She replaced all my mercury fillings (yuck) with the new white ones she explained how she would do it before and how they way she does it is a safe way to ensure no mercury would get in my system. The girl who cleaned my teeth also was super helpful and very professional. I have never seen such a clean facility!! The receptionist Rachel is so super friendly also she makes you feel so welcomed!
