Very disappointed in this store. I went in for a glasses exam after being unsuccessful with contacts in the past. The doctor talked me into a contacts exam to which he said he wanted to try some options maybe we could find a better fit the doctor either left or went on vacation or something and his replacement told me I can't wear contacts nothing will fit. So either the first doctor just conned me into the contacts appointment upcharge or the second doctor didn't care to bother trying more than 1 pair of lenses. Either way it left a bad taste. So then I have my glasses exam and ask for the pupillary distance (you need this to get any glasses online) and I was told they won't give me that information unless I buy a pair there. So that's cool, I had to go get another exam somewhere else to get the info they should have given me. Honestly just one move after another showing little care for patient and much more care for nickels and dimes. Sorry I didn't like your frames nor did I want to pay 200$ for lenses. But if you don't like any of the frames they offer you're SOL and have to go get another exam somewhere else. Normally I wouldn't post a yelp review. I work i hospitality so I'm sensitive to the effects. But they sent me a survey, I indicated all my issues in their survey which included a check mark "would you like someone from the store to contact you?" To which I clicked yes. It's been a month so far and nobody bothered. At which point I just want to suggest other people who might want to either not get a contact lense exam or might not want to buy overpriced glasses in their store may prefer to know this stuff before their exam. I was super disappointed from top to bottom. Cost me much more than had I just gone to basically any other optometrist and couldn't even get glasses afterwards. The original optometrist was very nice. His replacement not so much he seemed to want to be done with me. Or the original optometrist knew I couldn't wear contact lenses and wanted to charge me for it anyways. Either way it was a bad experience. Particularly since when I came in I specifically said I don't think contacts are a good idea. They haven't fit in the past. Trying 1 more brand so 3 total isn't exactly comprehensive. I can't believe the amazing service! Their excellent customer service speaks volumes in my book. I went in looking for contacts but I mentioned that I didn't like my current brand and would like to switch. They said I needed to see the optometrist which wasn't what I wanted to hear BUT Dr Cordry was available now so I agreed. I can't believe how fast I was able to get checked and get contacts fitted. It had to be 15min for my check up. Loved the efficiency! In the short time I was with Dr Cordry, he was able to teach me a lot about my eye. I will definitely be coming back whenever I need a new supply of contacts. read more

My first time at this location and when needing an appointment it would be best to consider this location. Though make sure to call and ask questions but also the employees were patient and able to help with making the best decision that works for you. I enjoyed my experience and looking forward to my next visit. The Doctor was also knowledgeable and helpful. They are located in the Columbia mall near and Panera. The staff was not only uneducated, arrogant and rude, they forced me to buy something I didn't want or need because they screwed up, not me. Had they simply matched price or discounted the item, it would have been fine. That is not what happened. I was forced to buy something that I didn't want to order because they made a mistake, not because I made a mistake. No attempt was made to help me to figure the situation out properly and I had to buy another pair of glasses, the pair I actually wanted, out of pocket. Do not go to this non corporate (privately own location or any others owned by them) multiple HIPAA, ADA and other violations (front half of store). Optometrist is good but probably should seek employment elsewhere due to sales/support staff. I'd see him again. First problem: They refused to accommodate a patient before me, who had a disability, request for assistance. An American Disability Act protected event and violation. Stated it was a HIPAA Violation. I informed the staff at the time of their incorrect interpretation of HIPAA and that are actually violating ADA. I ended up helping their patient, because they wouldn't, and all she needed help with was filling out the intake paperwork which she couldn't do because of a tremor. The first girl that helped me was very nice but added on services and had us pay for them "cause they were not sure if insurance would cover them or not". I will say the eye doctor was amazing, provided excellent care, information, and was very professional (Very good eye doctor)! When looking for glasses they offered very little help/suggestions, and I had to ask to see things behind multiple locked cabinets. While I was looking at glass I overhear another associate helping a patient. The associate was talking very "INTENSE" and patronizing is the best way to describe it ( not intentionally rude but aggressive. This same associate then became our person and while she offered a little more feedback in glasses (than another associate who was too busy watching sports) I asked her a question about the coating they use for glasses (as I had a problem with a specific coating in my last glasses) and was trying to make sure they do not use that coating. She did not listen to my question and gave an answer to sell their product. I requested a specific coating and she said they can't do that and that the coating company does not allow it for my prescription type. I then pulled out the certificate of authenticity of that coating in my glasses case. She said "I must have had a different vision problem as that is only offer for lens that need need a different correction. I continued to try and find out answers to my original question and was still met with hostile word choices, told "I still don't believe you had that" "I don't know how to explain it to you any other way I've explained it in layman terms" (as an answer to something not my question in the First place). My spouse was able to find preferred glasses but after leavening I had a bad feeling and started checking reviews. The glasses picked were $485 more expensive then online for the same product. We can understand some price differences but almost $500 more is outrageous. I called to cancel the glasses order (within 19 hours of placing and informed the management of the ADA issue I observed and multiple other HIPAA violations. I was told she is due in at ten but that doesn't mean anything, and if she doesn't return your call please call back again. (I think we may have found the source of the problem!). The manger refused to cancel our transaction, stating we have signs "all sales final" and she was not concerned about their violations and chose to argue her incorrect interpretation stating OUR company policy. I then read their "guarantee" to her (attached) RETURN*. I then tried to explain: a refund can only happen after a purchase. According to universal commercial code, a purchase requires payment and exchange of goods. As the exchange of goods has not occurred, their contractual obligations of the purchase is in breach. So it is not a refund it is simply returning the money back. We will file "good faith complaints" for their violations to the appropriate government/ agencies. Do not support a company who treats people with disabilities this way, or pay their way overpriced prices for terrible customer service staff/management. Don't believe their review ratings many companies buy 5star reviews, and their local Website states a high google review rating but in "quotes" includes only 2 reviews. Shady shady!!! read more

Stay away. Horrible. I have been going to this location for many years without a problem. I do not know what has happened but the staff and management is now completely incompetent. I went in for my annual check up in November and ordered new glasses. I have insurance and have gotten the same options every year with lineless bifocals and transition lenses. When my glasses came in I could not see. They had marked them wrong for the bifocals. They tried to say nothing was wrong, but I could not see. They remarked them and said they were sending them off to be redone. When I got the second set, they were no better. They had me do another eye exam and the Doctor said the lines were not marked right. They marked them a third time and sent them off. When I picked them up (January 18 by now), the lines were finally right. When I went outside, they wouldn't darken. I returned to the store AGAIN, and told them the problem. I was told the staff that put my order in hadn't put in for the transition lenses and since they had already redone them twice, they wouldn't redo them again. The manager had a staff member tell me all of this and stayed in the back instead of talking to me. I paid more out of pocket this time than I had in the past and after looking at my bill, noticed they had charged me for the Pearle Vision warranty without asking me. I asked about this and they would not respond. I paid over $300 out of pocket after insurance and now have glasses that will do me no good. I will now be looking for a new eye doctor. read more

I had an appointment for an eye exam and was going to get glass's as well as I have done in the past with the same insurance, I do understand that I would have to pay up front and submit for reimbursement like before. They refused to fill out the claim form with info needed for reimbursement from my insurance program. Saying it would make them liable???? Liable for what?? This was my first time at a chain optical center and I must say it was an excellent experience. Dr. Cordry performed the exam and provided me with great deal of information; walking me step-by-step, telling me the purpose of each aspect of the exam. Interestingly enough, I've been several high-end optometrist and ophthalmologist and Dr. Cordry was absolutely the most thorough! Picking out my glasses was a delight with Kaptola, she was a terrific help, from what looked good, to the financial aspects. She was great about giving me a lot of choices, ideas and options, her customer service was fantastic! Additionally, I took in a very expensive pair of glasses, from my former eye doctor in Columbia, in that were broken. My former doctor's office told me the lens would need to be replaced in order to re-wire the titanium glasses ($480 lens-cost alone). I showed them to Kaptola to see what it would cost to have them replace the lens and repair them. She walked back to the work area while in waited (10 mins max), I thought she was working up the quote. She returned with my glasses completely re-rewired without having to replace lenses, only the wire and nose piece!!!! I was so happy and surprised! I will be back for a two more pairs! read more

I was anxious but my nerves were quickly put to ease by the amazing staff. The Dr. was so nice and talked through each part of the exam. My husband and I recently visited this location for the first time, but it definitely won't be our last. From start to finish, the staff were friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. They were also efficient and didn't take up our entire afternoon. The doctor spent time explaining exactly what he was doing during the exam. And he was honest and open about what he found (or didn't find) on our exams, saving us money in the end. We didn't deal with aggressive sales strategies, nor hidden fees. My first visit here, the doctor changed my prescription so much that I was running into things, I lost all depth perception. I came in with no complaints with my vision so I was surprised to see that it had changed so much. When I called to ask about it, the staff said that was normal. When I came in to pick up a second pair of frames and mentioned it yet again, the staff was curt with me and not at all helpful. The lenses I had altered in-house were expensive and low quality compared to what I had done at my previous eye place (in a different state). Not going back again. read more

Be sure to check your printed receipt. I was not given my full insurance discount. Completely left off of my purchase. Customers trust that a company will calculate co-pays and allowances correctly. There also shouldn't be an employee that says "I don't do math well"! that's calculating!! There was no issue in getting the $80 refund but I had to return to the mall to do so. Let me start off by saying I have been to this establishment approximately 2 years prior without any issues. Recently however a different story. I scheduled an eye exam to see how much my eyes got out of wack, and in the hopes of getting progressive bifocals. Exam went great but fell apart after. I picked out frames and they were even drawn on for my eye centers to construct the glasses. Was told they would be done in a week. I waited 3 weeks before calling, the clerk said they needed to talk to the manager and would call me back. Never did, another week goes by, received a call from the manager. Stated I owe $10.00 for the office visit. I said okay I will pay that right away when I come in to pick up my glasses. Was told glasses haven't been ordered yet because I have to pay the 10 bucks first. WTF, I waited a month only to find out this S**t. Not even a phone call. Let me also state that I inquired on an exam fee during the initial appointment and was told "system was down don't worry about it, we'll get it going"! I will never go back to this S**t place. I plan on going in and paying for my exam, get my script and order glasses somewhere else!!! Thanks for Nothing!!! read more

I came here to buy glasses a year and a half ago and paid extra for a warranty they assured me would last two years. Now they say their warranty only lasts one year. First of all, their glasses are VERY LOW QUALITY which is why the glasses I purchased from this location are UNUSABLE now. I am still the same prescription as before, but the lenses are COMPLETELY SHOT. Whatever you do, go anywhere else to buy glasses in Columbia. If you do make the mistake of coming here, then DO NOT get any of the lens coatings that they try to talk you into. The lens coatings deteriorate the glasses very quickly.
