Top medical care depends very heavily on strong physician communication skills. Dr. Pearlstein and his staff practice this level of communication. Before I continue, let me explain my expertise because it's relevant here. I have worked in doctor-patient communication and shared decision making for 30 years. I have taught this across many kinds of settings: medical schools, nursing call centers, physician and hospital practices, you name it. I went with a dear friend to the neurologist to make sure he was getting the communication from the neurologist that would serve him best. I am very pleased to say that Dr. Pearlstein is an excellent communicator. He: 1. Found a way to share a common experience with my friend. This puts people at ease and opens the conversation up to a discussion of daily life. That means a doctor can think about treatments that will or won't fit with your lifestyle and schedule. 2. Used a calming tone and simple words. This lowers blood pressure and stress and increases a sense of well being. That means you can feel relaxed and take in what the doctor says. 3. Asked us to ask questions. Often, doctors do not want questions from their patients, but then you don't get the whole story. I always ask what I call the "money question": What do your smartest patients ask you that we did not? Dr. Pearlstein had great answers. Look. Doctors are not here to match your politics. They aren't here to support your desire to avoid masking. They are not here to be customer service support. They are here to treat your diseases and save your life or help you live well even with a chronic condition. I would trust Dr. Pearlstein and his staff any day. So what if he hates your chosen political guy? It doesn't matter as long as you get great communication and care. If you want a doctor who shares your political beliefs, you need to reassess your choice. read more

Dr. Pearlstein isn't there anymore, it's just the Nurse Practitioner. I had my yearly appointment and we discussed the meds I was taking. I said I don't take the one rescue med anymore because Advil works fine now. She mentioned a different rescue med and I said I have tried that but it made me sick. Somehow it got twisted it to be the med I stopped taking because I take Advil instead that made me sick and she prescribed a 90 day supply of the med I couldn't take because it made me sick. Then she was guilting me about my asking the PHARMACY to reimburse me for the $9 fee for the medication I can't take because some people without insurance could pay hundreds. Needless to say, I am going start looking for a new neurologist. read more

Very unprofessional. Extremely disappointed. Had my third appointment with Dr. Pearlstine today. While everything seemed to be going nicely it quickly took a shocking turn when the nurse made a disgusting remark to us about wishing to ass****nate a current presidential candidate. She even followed up and acknowledged that she should not have made that remark as I may be a "lover" of said candidate. Dr. Pearlstine found her comment very amusing and said if he had know he would have "shocked" me harder. I find it extremely unprofessional for a doctor or nurse to project their political beliefs on any one for any reason. Especially when it is being done in such a violent manner. I am a life long migraine patient and seen many (many) Neurologists in the greater Philadelphia area , over the years and Dr Pearlstein is head and shoulders better that every other Dr I have seen. He takes the time to talk to me and has found the right treatment to help me with my headaches. read more

Been seeing Dr. Pearlstein for over 4 years now. And I went in for a visit and got harrassed by the "Mask Karen" office manager pushing their office policy on to someone who is Asthmatic. As I explained this when I was initally approached. She then demanded to see a medical note or card? I was like, wtf? Check my medical records from my primary care physician. It's all in there. But all this nitwit cared about was exhaulting her AUTHORITY over me and then ultimately even accused me of harrassing the staff when they were infact harrassing me the entire time about this mask issue. Unfortunately Dr. Pearlstein didn't even care to hear my side of the story. As the "Mask Karen" told Pearlstein only what she wanted him to hear and then they literally told me that I had to leave because I would NOT comply with their policy and just absolutely made things up to make their case stick. Knowing full well that I did NOT harass their staff. And then I was even told that Dr. Pearlstein doesn't want to see me now because I won't wear this mask. Even knowing full well there is a medical condition at hand. As I also explained that these plastic fibers coming from these masks are causing cancer according to "Doctors reports" in people's lungs and they don't work as it clearly says on the side of the mask boxes. And with this being said on top of my Asthmatic condition. They did NOT care at all! And put my physical health and well being into jepardy and refused me further care from the Dr. And finally told me that Dr. Pearlstein doesn't want to see me anymore at all. Imo, that was extremely cowardly. And after being a patient of his for over 4 years now. I would expect Dr. Pearlstein himself to ask me for my side of the story and not just take the side of a person who is clearly only interested in her authority issues and not your well being or your health issues that are preventing you to wear this mask in the first place. Honestly though, the last time I was there prior to this appointment. These people managed to piss off a patient so much so that he threatened to come into the office with a gun and shoot everyone as I was told. And it just so happened to happen on a day that I was scheduled to see the Doctor. Dr. Pearlstein was so upset and physically shaken that when it was my time to see him. He was not hardly interested in me or my severe migranes and pineal cyst. But more for the whack job that threatened his office. Understandable to a point. So, on that note, the entire visit was extremely unprofessional and didn't do me any good at all. And on a personal note. I've always liked Dr. Pearlstein. And it sadens me that this entire thing happened. But in all honesty, it's not fair to me as a patient and infringing upon my Human Rights as a person with medical conditions preventing me from complying with their office policies. If you are like me with a health condition like mine or any other that would prevent you from wearing a mask. I don't advise you to go here. You'll just get harrassed and treated like an animal instead of a human being that needs care. Very sad day indeed. read more

This office cares more about your money than your wellbeing. After being canceled on and having to wait week for another appointment, at their convenience, got to the office and before filling out any paperwork they immediately wanted my copay and a credit card to keep on file. With data theft being as prevalent nowadays, I didn't feel comfortable about this. Then after reading their paperwork, while the front desk still asked for my copay at least twice more, I find out that they want it on file incase the insurance company doesn't pay all of it, and that they can automatically charge my credit card. I asked them about PCI compliance, of which they knew nothing. This is compliance surrounding how customer credit info is kept. Then I asked if there was any information about this since PCI compliance requires multiple audits yearly, and they couldn't provide anything other than to say that they make a copy of the card (physical) then take it upstairs to "their billing guy" (where they said, he's been doing this for years, so he knows what he's doing) and its then entered into a computer and the physical is shredded. I have so many issues with that statement, I can't even go into it all. They keep repeating things like "this is standard" and "nothing has happened before" to try and make it sound better but these phrases have no grounds in anything factual, its all just based on "trust us" and for a doctors office that has talked more about trying to get my money than get me healthy, that is a big red flag.
