I took my mother there and saw Dr Dan Ricchiuti and she was tested for bladder cancer and after 3 weeks she never heard back so I had to call the office. After numerous calls and messages, someone finally answered the phone. I was told my mother's tests were negative and she was fine. Why did nobody call to let her know? She spent 3 weeks wondering if she had cancer or not. I asked to speak to management and spoke to Amelia and she was very rude and talked down to me like I was stupid. The office has new employees every time I take my mom for an appointment , and none of them look or act professional. Just a very unorginized practice with many rude workers and managers. My mother will be switching to Southwoods from now on!

The nurse, Joy, was the complete opposite. She was always willing to help and has a good personality. My relationship with Dr. Novak started out fine. He listened, he sent me to the specialists I needed, and had a decent bedside manner. That all changed in 2020. I don't know if it was the stress of everything going on, or potentially even burnout, but his attitude did a complete 180. He was suddenly rushing me through my appointments, wasn't helping me with various issues, etc. I spent a whole year with elevated blood sugar that he refused to do anything with my meds for it - he just kept telling me to diet better and lose weight. When he finally DID something, it was to tell me to take a dosage that he's been told multiple times makes me sick. Maybe read your notes/learn someone's medical history before making decisions. This change in demeanor also happened after I got my service dog and he (naturally) started attending my appointments. I don't want to think that Novak's actually an ableist, but I can't help but wonder - especially when he made comments about my SD a couple of times. It's not as though he didn't already know my various conditions. I have zero time for doctors who can't be bothered to give me even the minimum of care. He never even entered anything into the Mercy Healthcare system. He doesn't have a computer/tablet, and hand writes everything. Which is fine, up unto the point where other physicians can't access my history or any of those details - not even my bloodwork was added in! It really just goes to show how much he cares about the health of his patients.

His staff is friendly and ready to help. They always find an appoingment that works with your schedule. He also works from a location nearer my home, but I choose to see him in this office because there is no waiting. He isn't stingy with his time while always being there on time for my appointment. He orders a few more tests than I'd like but better safe than sorry. I am happy to be his patient and will recommend him.
