On Wed. 10/13 I called Michelle yet again and asked when I could expect to pick up my taxes. She said Terri was very busy and working on them and they'd call. On the day the taxes were due, Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, I called at 1:01 p.m. and spoke yet again to Michelle. She said they would call and it would be before 4:00 pm. Crickets. On Monday, October 18, 2021 at 11:52 am I called and the phone went to voicemail. I hung up, blocked my outgoing number, and called back. Michelle picked up the phone. Natural conclusion: screening, AKA ghosting. I went in later that afternoon and took my files off the conference table along with the printout of my extension filing (meaning my email was opened and read) and walked out. Judy was there and said that Terri wasn't in "today". I gave Ms. Vedders the entire week to get in touch with me. She has not. If you are a longtime client of Ms. Vedders, you probably are in good hands. If you are new to the island, have out-of-state or complicated taxes, you might want to consider firms in Mt. Cole would not stop talking and listen, which made me immediately NOT select him. 2. I was clear this was an "interview" call, not an advisory call. 3. They never sent me a bill, (you don't charge for sales calls) but 2 years later I get a collections call for $100. What? 4. No problem, I call the office and speak to the most rude accounting manager I have ever met (and I'm a CPA). She says she won't reverse the charge in spite of the fact this wasn't a legal discussion but an interview. Bottom Line: This firm is out of date (you'll be paying for an old guy to talk at you), the other partner who is now an elected official won't get back to you, and the business practices are all scam.
