We have family in the area and came across this jewel while visiting. The grounds are well…read moremaintained. There are nice FHU and rustics sites with several miles of dog-friendly trails. This is not a large State Park but it has a lot to offer. The historical site is a short walk from the campground and contains a plethora of information. The rangers are very friendly and gladly answer any questions as well as giving nature hikes and historical tours. The sites slope downhill toward the river but get leveler the closer you are to be the river. Large Motorhomes will want to avoid the first row (closest to the road) and possibly the second row. You will definitely need a few more leveling blocks on these rows. The last two rows are not too bad with few to no leveling blocks needed. We found Verizon and AT&T Cell and Data Services to work well. The park offers free WiFi that is readily usable most of the day. Note: If you have a long trailer or Motorhome, say 30' or more. There are several routes to get here coming off of 11E. Make sure and call the campground for directions. You want to follow the route from the Limestone area that takes you under the railroad tracks. Otherwise, you will be on some uncomfortable narrow curvy roads.

This is by far the nicest park! The park is located on the Nolichucky River with beautiful long and wide sites. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Bathrooms and laundry are cleaned several times a day. Firewood and ice are delivered directly to your site upon request. While here we had an Uncle pass away. My sister in law from Pennsylvania was able to rent one of the themed campers instead of staying at a hotel. She enjoyed her stay and we are planning a family get together here in the future. We don't have small children with us at this time but the playground is inviting. The attention to detail at this KOA is awesome!

We were following the KOA cancellation policy requiring 48 hours which would result in a $10.00 cancellation fee. The manager was not very nice and told us he would only refund us 4 days of our remains 8 days. I am sure he has rented the site for all 8 days by now because again it is a delightful spot Lesson learned Be aware that not all KOA campgrounds are going to adhere to the KOA cancellation policy before booking

Campground is clean and free from trash and looks updated and better every season. Stayed in the Rustic cabin 1. Again it had a great view of the Noli from porch. Cabin was well equipped with comfy beds a heater, a/c unit, small fridge, coffee maker and microwave. Water in front of unit is conveniently located. Bathroom and showers clean/dry floors and well stocked and centrally located. Camp staff is very professional and efficient, and are always looking to be helpful and friendly. First there is space. Space between you and your neighbor. Second Charlotte and Steve are the most kind,friendly informative and top notch hospitality. Anything from sharing recourses they have used and telling us about the best places to eat and find produce. It makes you feel like part of the community. Third this place is big and the mowing looks like a chore in itself. From the clubhouse laundry facilities showers and grounds are kept immaculate. It is so peaceful here and very safe. Last but not least is the pond with fish and frogs that put you to sleep at night. Nothing beats this place

As a USMC Veteran with a VA Service Dog, I had arrived at Johnnys to them not even wanting me to…read morestay and asking me to leave. after a brief discussion of about 30 minutes I was able to stay two nights. upon waking up, I was refunded my last night and asked to leave due to them having too many dogs at the location. Most being employees. will never be staying there again. Resupply is taxed at over 100% and sometimes closer to 200% in profits. Not satisfied and will NEVER return. camp across the street at the river and pay the $5 to shower if need be.
