We shopped at Pebble People the last time we visited Solvang. My kids bought me my first cuckoo clock here for Mother's Day and it was a wonderful experience. At this visit I was looking for a delicate sterling silver ring that our daughter has been searching for. I was surprised to find it and took a picture to send to her. In doing that I also took a picture of the wall of clocks, since it was nostalgic to our last visit. My husband then told me about the No Videos/Photos signs (sorry!). Our daughter texted back saying it was the ring she wanted. A staff member happened to come up at that moment who asked if I needed any help. She opened the case, but the ring was too big. She was so kind to look through the other sizes with me, but they didn't have more. We then walked around admiring all the collectibles and the wonderful details of the wooden German clocks. We plan to come back when our daughter visits in the Spring. Hopefully they will have her size then. read more

Awesome finds at this store. Coolest collection of clocks, random collectables and trinkets. I bought a few things that I didn't need! Couldn't help myself! Store is clean, big and bright. Prices are fair. Customer service was pretty horrible. The no filming / photos policy seems ridiculous since a lot of these items are already online and at other retail outlets as well as drop shipped from other outlets. I literally saw a family that left a bunch of items on the counter and walk out mad cause of that policy. Good way to lose sales but hey it's not my business... I'd recommend checking it out but don't you dare take out your phone or camera! And hopefully you will get good customer service because my wife and I did not! Good luck... read more

If you're looking for some real authentic Dutch / European wooden clocks then this spot is for you. It's definitely just a fun place to come look around and see all of the different clocks and if you are a collector then you'll be in heaven. I like a store like this because even though I'm not likely to buy something they are at least informing and teaching the public about the communities heritage and culture. I can get behind that. This store consisted mainly of clocks, jewelry, Disney figurines, and in the back was an "interesting" assortment of "stuff". I docked a star because their back room with the exception of the clocks just seemed junky. Not for me. Not trying to hate on the business but the back room feels like a swap meet of random items and themes but at high prices. Definitely interesting to look at but could never see myself buying these dusty dragon pieces or odds and ends pieces. Staff were pretty nice and helpful. I will say it's unfortunate that you can't take pictures inside or that the staff have to enforce it. Being in a tourist town it's unusual to have such cool items but then telling all of these people who will likely not be back that they can't take pictures of the clocks, knowing that's what people are coming in to look at. Doesn't seem worth staff having to go through that every few minutes but kudos to them, they do follow the rules and I heard them have to tell many people to not take pictures. While this store is more of a 3 for me in terms of inventory, I bumped them up to 4 stars because the staff were nice and the clocks are just so cool and worth a look. According to their website, Pebble People is a family-run business in Solvang for 43 years, specializing in handcrafted clocks, jewelry, music boxes, etc. There are a couple hand sanitizers around the store. We walked in because we saw the Disney items from the front door and had to stop and look. There's a ton of stuff to look at. Because the store was so big we split up and took our own page at looking at things. I saw some jewelry I really liked but couldn't bring myself to buy it. None of the staff stopped to check how I was doing or if I had any questions. If they did I would've asked what one of the necklaces I liked was made out of. There's also a small section with dragons. I like dragons so I spent the most amount of time debating about that necklace and staring at the dragons, deciding if any of what they were selling would go with what dragons I already had at home. This was my first visit to Solvang, and Pebble People; utterly delighted with both. My sister visited Solvang as a child; the inly thing she remembered was Pebble People, so of course, it was our first stop. Having lived through the Pet Rock craze, the little Pebble People offerings were so relatable (purchased two) and portable. One might argue that anybody could get smooth pebbles and make little sculptures, but for a certainty I could not. The shop offers many beautiful items of varying prices including watches, silver and semi-precious jewelry, clocks and snow globes among other items (not an exhaustive list, sorry). The staff were all very friendly but neither overbearing nor intrusive (and even remembered who I was when I returned to claim my mobile phone - oops!). We'll be making a return trip to visit Pebble People! read more

Cutest shop with the most amazing collection of cuckoo clocks. Husband had always wanted one so I got him one for Christmas! We spent hours browsing the shop. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We finally decided on one that was made in Germany and it was carefully packaged for the ride home. It's now hanging in my husband's office and he couldn't be happier. Always wanted a cuckoo clock from a recent European business trip few years ago and never managed to fit one in my luggage. Imagine my surprise when finding this quaint shop after weekend brunch! Lots of options such as wind up and battery operated, and in all sizes, some with popping birds, some without. I settled for this battery operated small one with a dog and rotating "dancers". The two older ladies who were working in the shop answered my questions and didn't really pressure too much. One stayed fairly nearby to answer questions. The clocks are supposedly made in Germany and they include a 1 year warranty. You get the one on the wall, because at least you know it's working - so check for any aesthetic defects before they box it up! This is particularly important if you don't live nearby and the receipt has a "no refund" policy and strict exchange policy within 14 days if something is wrong. read more

When in Solvang, this beautiful shop is an absolute must! We were in town a few days ago to celebrate 20 years of marriage. We browsed this shop for a bit and the most beautiful pair of butterfly earrings caught my eye. I've never wanted any other piece of jewelry like I wanted these. The price tag was a bit more than I felt comfortable spending. Needless to say these earrings have been on my mind since then. I've been kicking myself for not buying them then. But they sell a lot of things that you will love. They can sell cuckoo clocks, or if you want, they have things you can take home. They have beautiful music boxes, Christmas stuff (magnets and such). They have the big houses that can play so many songs on there :D (but really expensive). Mostly though, they have things that you know you can find a place for at home. It's great decor! I got myself some Christmas Disney stuff (ha- they have that stuff here too!) And they have such a huge selection of these things- I'm not even kidding. A great store to buy little trinkets of everything. Of course they're known for their cuckoo clocks there's a whole wall of them there. They also have very nice music boxes. In addition to that though, there are tons of things for almost everyone. There is collections of Betty Boop, Wizard of Oz, Disney, Fantasy, Over 50, Horses, everything. It's like Aahs or Hot Topic, but for your grandmother. The workers kind of follow you round a lot, i'm guessing because they don't want you to break anything. Walked by the Solvang Pebble People and noticed that they had something we wanted to look at so we stopped in. They had a whole wall of Cuckoo Clocks. That was the main draw for us. My wife and I grew up with a Cuckoo Clock in our grandparents houses and had always wanted to get one. They had many different types and styles available. We chose a traditional German style musical Cuckoo Clock that we needed to wind every day. We really preferred the old-style hand made mechanical Cuckoo's as opposed to the battery operated ones. Not only do the Pebble People have Cuckoo Clocks, but a wide variety of other clocks, Disney items, Disney Art, Steins, Dragons and Fairies, watches, Christmas items and of course their Pebble People. A great shop to stop in and check out. There was so much to look at the staff was quite friendly and helpful with everything. Solvang has some unique stores. Came across this store with Sidney T on our mini road trip. There were lots and lots of music boxes. Music boxes from 'you are my sunshine to twinkle twinkle little stars' If you want to some popular piano instrumental, they also have canon D and fur Elise. The store seems to be own by these elderly women who are all so cute. The store also sells earrings, and cute Disney statues. When you walk into the store, you will see the pebble rocks made into different animals. So glad I decided to stop in this cute little shop. I have been searching online and everywhere I can think for a replacement to a ring my mom got me when I was a teenager. The one she got me was worn down and bent from years of wear and oddly enough, I found the exact ring in this shop! I couldn't believe my eyes. Has no one heard of this place before?! It's one of the best shops in Solvang! If you are wondering why this shop is called Pebble People, check out the pictures I posted. SOOO CUTE! PP has an array of music boxes, antique looking clocks, statues, beer steins, jewelry, merry-go-rounds, toys, and more trinkets than you could ever need. I am sure I overlooked something because I didn't get to spend a lot of time at PP. My brother fell in love with the collection of old-school Disney statues. They aren't in production anymore so if you are an avid Disney statue (are they called statues?!) collector, then make the drive to Solvang and check out PP. The shopkeepers are friendly and willing to answer any questions you have. They are also very eager to open up their cases so you can look at their merchandise closely. I highly recommend you stopping by...even if you aren't looking to buy anything I guarantee you will find something to entertain you!! The prices are not too bad, but I wasn't looking to dump anymore money that day. However, I was definitely tempted to buy some of their rings. If anyone ever sees a gold/copper/silvery ring shaped like two leaves, then you will see the ring that I fell in love with! Too bad it cost a cool $70 or else I would have snatched it up. And the customer service is fantastic here. The deals of the mechanical clocks that came from Germany. There are a few manual clocks too. They cost around $350 to $750. I would say it is a good deal, and their is limited warranty. Knowledge of products are exceptional for selling them. My mom commented that she wanted the cardinal body sensor thing to be made of wood instead of plastic. The husband's owner said to us - she knows her stuff! True! Some of the sweetest people work here. :) We were in the area on a Friday morning, and, as their door was open, we walked in. They greeted us kindly, even though we later realized that we walked in around half an hour earlier than when they normally open. Whoops.... :/ It's a very charming little store. They have jewelry, music boxes, porcelain/ceramic figures, and, the piece de resistance: cuckoo clocks! I can only imagine how crazy they might get hearing all of those clocks going at the same time, but they all seemed very sane to me. :) For jewelry, all was pretty reasonably priced. I scored some black pearl earrings, which the very nice lady even changed out the posts so that it would work as clip-on earrings! I also got a very pretty Black Hills Gold ring. When considering the supply of Black Hills Gold isn't very high, I definitely got a good price on that, as well. And they had a much bigger selection of Black Hills Gold than I've ever seen. They also have modern Seiko musical clocks in the second room. Be careful when you go into the second room, as there are steps that lead down! I didn't see the steps and nearly fell, but that was because I was wow-ed by the number of items they have in the store. They did duct tape the stairs with bright tape, so I probably should've seen it. :/ Will be back if we're in the area. Very cute store, and each and every one of the employees were very helpful and knew their stuff.
