The room was incredibly clean!!! You can tell they put hard work into making sure each inch of the place is cleaned and prepped for each guest. In this trip We've visited 13 states, and used multiple hotels and restaurants stop bathrooms.... The ThunderBird Lodge by far had the BEST toilet paper we've used since being at home. Small detail? Yes. Big difference? holy CRAP (no pun intended) yes! This was our first time in Oklahoma, and Mel made sure to let us know about tornado warnings and what channel to watch the storm on. She was very concerned about our safety, and made sure to notate which car was ours and which ones didn't belong to guests, to eliminate sketchy people and keep the guests safe. There was also a cute little cat that roamed the parking lot and let us pet him. A really great stay and really great atmosphere!

Some things to keep in mind: - it's an older place so don't expect "fancy" furnishings, but everything is extremely well-cared for, clean, and thoughtfully arranged - the overall grounds are fun to roam around--make sure to visit the gazebos and pool area turned into dog park! - they are updating some things like the TVs and making it even more dog friendly (it's already extremely dog friendly!) so stay tuned for more ... The bed was comfy, the room cozy and the hot tub was private and the perfect addition! We walked to dinner and came back and enjoyed a glass of wine in the back sitting area. The staff was so friendly with complimentary cookies and wine (not only white...wish there was a red option) in the evening. And breakfast...it was delicious and the perfect portions. The Inn is located in a residential part of town. Our room was a corner room, The Morning Song on the first floor and convenient to all parts of the Inn. Parking was available in the rear as well as the front driveway. The room had a king bed, large walk in shower and was clean and comfortable. Breakfast, snacks and wine was included. Breakfast service was prompt and the food was delicious. The smoothie was refreshing. The staff was helpful in recommending restaurants for dinner.

Geez...I must have lost a lot of money to have gotten that room many...years ago. Now they only give me a King suite, but at least it's free. Is it free though? HECK NO. The King suite at Riverwind is about the same as other 3 star hotel's King suite. It's nice and comfortable, with decent amenities and service. Customer could have been friendlier, but apparently the receptionist only slept 3 hours. Yeah, she appeared fatigue. Can't really complain much here because at least they give you a little back for your losses. If they would have given me the presidential suite, then I would have given a better rating.

At the Oklahoma State Visitors Center when you enter the state from Texas there was a book on…read morevisiting OU and taking a tour. After reading it and growing up next to a diehard OU alum I called up the number and inquired about a tour. They were very helpful on short notice. When my Dad and I got there we were greeted and they made us feel welcomed. We were mistakenly put in the tour for prospective students and taken all over campus. The student tour guide knew her stuff and took us everywhere. In and out of class rooms, dorms, offices, reading rooms and more. She answered our questions when we had them and even let our group take a break here and there. The tour was a blast! When we got back to the visitors center after the tour was over the staff was nice and helped my Dad and I find our way back to the student union for lunch and where to buy t shirts and hats. If you have 3 hours or so and want to go on a neat walking tour filled with history, culture and people facebooking on their cellphone while riding a bike through campus then you should take the OU tour.
