The dentist is exceptional and the staff is very good and friendly. I was impressed until I…read morereceived my first invoice. There were 4 unknown charges for $254. They send you home with a bag of toothpaste and mouthwash that were very very expensive. Also included in the bag were a sonic toothbrush and water pick. Everything just goes on your bill or gets charged to your account without your knowledge. I went to Aspen a total of 3 times and not once was my appointment on time. I am happy with the service I received but not enough to get taken advantage of. I have called the office in Onalaska 3 times and requested a call back to ask what the unknown charges that totaled over $1000. Still waiting

5 star because my general dentist was amazing. I never got her name even after 4 visits. But she…read morehad the first stall in the back. She is very caring and gentle. She explains and walks you through everything in detail. 3 stars because of the wait from the Doctors. They seem to always be in a rush to get the job done but very slow at tending to their patients. I had my wisdom teeth extracted and the entire time, I was a bit nervous as Dr. Hala kept looking up and away from my mouth while so working to extract my teeth all just to have a conversation with an intern about shopping and deals on purses. Not sure if her distraction caused two needles to break in my mouth but it was nerve wrecking. On top of that, my mouth wasn't even fully numb yet prior to her starting the work. Eventually the pain lessened as my extraction continued. My last visit today was scheduled for 2pm. I got there 10 mins early as usual. Checked in and was taken to the back around 2:05p. I was put into an exam room to get my fillings, however waited for almost 40 mins. As minutes went by, i couldn't help but walk to the front desk to ask for a cancelation since it seems i was either forgotten or they were too busy to see me. After canceling all my appointments and asked for a full refund since i had prepaid for a years plan, the dental assistant came to look for me and asked what was going on. The clerk told get I'm leaving because i had somewhere else to be at and wouldn't make it on time due to the delay of their service. They asked to reschedule but i politely declined and asked for a refund. The delay and over lapping of scheduling caused me to leave Aspen Dental. I wish i could stay with my dental hygenist because she's super sweet. But i couldn't stand the unprofessionalism from the doctors. We pay for their service and take time out of work to be there on their schedule. Yet we are left forgotten and are waiting for extended time. And to note. I was extra charged without knowing i was extra charged due to the sweet dental hygenist telling me. She was able to get me a refund. Then again, as i canceled my plan with them, i later find out, i was being extra charged for work but it wasn't going to be brought to my attention and they had planned to set the money aside for future work. Look at your bill and question them if you are on a plan. Make sure that you're being charged for what's being done and not more. Thank you to my hygenist and the clerk from today telling me about those extra charges and making sure i get my money back.

There were no surprises. They were professional, helpful with insurance, and timely…read more My visit was thorough. The Dentist doesn't push to do work that doesn't need to be done immediately and gives options that meet the care that I wanted done and prioritized. Couldn't be happier. The staff are REALLY polite and accommodating. Have never had a bad experience in the years I've been going there! I just started bringing my daughter there and she says it is far better than the other dentists we've been seeing through the medical clinic in town.

Don't make my mistake. I rushed into this decision, and have been $paying$ for it ever since…read more I got two opinions for Invisalign. The first (free consult) was from a real orthodontist, at Great River Orthodontists in La Crosse. I was quoted $6,450.00. The second consultation (which cost $150) from Dr. Cowgill, was $3,900. I'm on a limited income, so I was thrilled Cowgill was cheaper. (Now I would gladly pay the difference to see an Orthodontist) Dr. Cowgill told me three things at that consult: I was an easy case/most likely wouldn't need refinements at all after my initial 14 trays (Didn't come true, I was a patient for 16 months before I transferred to an Orthodontist), we'd keep going until I was satisfied with my smile (at my last appointment before I transferred he told me quite condescendingly there was nothing more he could do for me, and my teeth are just shaped the way they are), and I would like my smile in the end (Definitively untrue). My first surprise was I was expecting Dr. Cowgill to see me during appointments. (In fact, there had been a brouhaha because I originally wanted Tuesday afternoon visits and Dr. Cowgill apparently takes that afternoon off each week.) I had a woman I had never met- I later learned via google she is a different dentist at the practice. I think I saw her 2, possibly 3 times overall, right in the beginning, and then I just saw a hygienist. My second surprise was when I mentioned after getting my first tray I had purchased an Outie to remove trays and she (dentist) had never heard of them. I had learned of them after joining the Invisalign Reddit forum online. I found it disturbing dental professionals hadn't advised me on them, or even HEARD of them. I wasn't advised on Chewies, either, which most people on my forum seemed to have been advised on by their orthodontists. My visits were about two minutes long overall. Again, comparing myself to the subreddit of people going through my same process, others seemed to actually have the orthodontist/ dentist physically look at their mouth to confirm they were tracking well, and compared their visits to ClinCheck videos. I was never offered to see my clincheck during visits, nor was I checked to see I was tracking. My experience has been a hygienist handing me my new tray and checking to see that I could put it on. Another terrible surprise was learning I had signed up for Invisalign "Lite". Everything to my recollection was I was never told this was different from regular Invisalign. I was told I had a light case- I took that to mean "mild/easy to fix" When I got my first trays, I took a look at the bag when I got home. I thought it was weird that "Lite" was written on them, so again, I turned to google. I learned there that after my 14 trays were up, Invisalign would assign me a number of refinements. If my teeth were still crooked after that round of refinements, I'd have to pay out of pocket for further treatment. (Unlike regular Invisalign patients- they keep going until satisfied) Cue my panic. (Another thing I learned on my forum was people often waited months to get started as their orthodontist and Invisalign went back and forth on the best treatment plan. This wasn't my experience. Invisalign dictated everything, I doubt the dentist ever questioned any of it. I got my trays as soon as they were first advised and created both times) I felt dismissed whenever I brought up concerns to the hygienists, like my fear that I wasn't tracking. Any concern was basically answered by "it just takes time". I FINALLY saw Dr. Cowgill after I finished my 14 trays. He looked at my teeth and said something along the lines of "whoa, these still have a long way to go!" No crap, Sherlock. It felt so horrible to hear that. I KNEW I wasn't tracking well, and my concerns had been dismissed by the hygienists- no one ever went to get the dentist to actually confirm I was tracking properly. So aggravating! Furthering my alarm, Dr. Cowgill then guessed I would need only three refinement trays and then he'd basically sand down my crookedness. Look, I obviously didn't go to dental school, but even I knew he was tripping balls if he thought three would do the trick. Invisalign ended up sending eleven, nearly four times his professional estimation. After my fourth tray of refinements, I sent a picture of my top teeth on day one (5.5 months earlier), and the day 28 of refinements to my best friend. She guessed my day one pictures were me nearly done with treatment. I honestly to god cried when she said that. It was proof to me I wasn't crazy, I WASNT tracking properly. And if anyone reading this is thinking I didn't wear them properly-FALSE! I timed myself every time I took them out. I never took them out for more than 2/24 hours. ok im being cut off for space...just spend the money for an Ortho, Cowgill is inept and rude. Ortho says she can straighten them for, C says it's impossible. I'll trust the Ortho.

It finally became something that I could no longer avoid so I went to Grand River Dental because I really trust the dentists there to do the best job. It turns out that I was correct to trust them because they made the whole process seamless. I was in and out with four less wisdom teeth and barely any pain and no swelling (granted i was on pain killers) I was back to work the next day and minus the obvious healing curve, everything was back to normal very quickly. My wisdom teeth were fully grown in so it's possible that my procedure went smoother than someone whose teeth are not fully grown in or impacted, but even then, I would trust this team to do the best job they could to minimize the trauma from this surgery. Nothing that I was scared of happening happened and I am so grateful to this dental team!

Dr. Malin is a real expert at his craft and his chair-side manner is fantastic! I was particularly impressed by how much state-of-the-art equipment Dr. Malin had in the office. I've been to other doctors for CT scans and all the rest, but Dr. Malin was able to do it all in his office the same day. To top it off all of the staff at GRD are all very friendly and helpful as well! Definitely will come back and definitely recommend Grand River Dental! Thanks, Dr. Malin!
