Dr. Singh was horrible to me. My 2 year old began vomiting and then dry heaving at 11 pm. I was concerned about dehydration so I called to ask some questions (as the office encourages). Dr. Singh was absolutely furious. She was condescending and unbelievably rude. It would be hard to overstate how rude she was--she even chewed me out for giving the pharmacy address too slowly. I have no idea what her problem is, but she took it out on me while my child was sick. Keep your children away from her. read more

For the last 11 years, since my daughter was born, I have been lucky enough to have received optimal medical care for both my children. From the unmatched friendly and accommodating service offered at the front office, Barbara and Celeste never cease to amaze, to the organized and accurate follow up from billing and annual office visit scheduling - this group is stellar! It's safe to say my children have seen every pediatrician in the group, as they always guarantee a same day visit for a sick child, and each physician is as caring, personable and professional as the next. Just as important is the practice's nursing staff. This group of nurses is wonderful! They know my children's health history, they always inquire about current events and they make light of tough moments. Dr. Theriot and Dr. Livingston are our primary physicians and they are true godsends. They are both incredibly engaging with my children and really listen to what they have to say. I feel so grateful we switched over to this pediatric practice. We weren't getting the care we wanted with my daughter's asthma at a different practice, but coming here has been a dream! My son was born at LB memorial and Dr Singh was on call. It was fate! We switched our daughter to her as well. She is an "above and beyond" doc. So caring, so knowledgeable, and patient. Started off by bringing my 3 kids here & this is the first & only office that billed my insurance in a way to charge more for a first time visit, even when it's a preventative visit. Which meant I had to pay out of pocket if I didn't spend many hours fighting for it to be fixed. They also charged me for a well child visit & sick child visit for the same day for a single child even though it was only a well child visit. Since my kid was ill when it was time for her well visit, I called ahead to ask to reschedule the visit bc my kid was getting over a cold, but they said to just bring her in for the well child check, it should be fine bc that's all it'll be because they want to make sure she's hitting her milestones.The billing ladies, who are consistently rude, didn't see the issue with this based on the notes (it's insurance fraud to say we discussed illness so you can charge for it, when we did not). I take care of sick kids for a living, I never asked how to care for the URI my child had. Took me several weeks of follow up calls to actually get this resolved because the office manager was on vacation, but no one knew when she'd be back. There was another time I took one of my children in for a steroid due to her croup. The MD said he could give her a shot of dexamethasone, but refused to give it orally, stating it can only be given as a shot. This is 100% false. We've since moved to Los Alamitos Pediatrics & are much happier. Haven't had a single billing issue & the doctors seem competent. read more

We've been going to PMC for 20 years. I love the staff & doctors. Barbara & Celeste are always helpful and friendly. Over time, we've seen all the doctors. They are all so caring for their patients. We appreciate the time they take to make sure our questions are answered. Many years ago, as new parents - we picked this office because we loved Dr. Theriot. We also loved the small parking lot adjacent to the building and the assurance that someone would always see our children. I can't tell you how true this is. The doctors have been with us from birth on, well-checks, late night calls, and even Saturday appointments. We've been back to the hospital and they've been there too. While sometimes appointments are late, I appreciate that it's because they have made themselves available to someone who needed them. PMC was where my OBGYN took her kids so it was the only place I called. Loved the PMC doctors since the day they visited me at the hospital after my birth. Dr. Theriot and Dr. Welty came my first and second day at Long Beach Memorial Hospital. I loved how they interacted with me and my daughter. It was like she was their own family. Dr. Theriot even changed her diaper during her exam (dude you're the doctor! You didn't have to do that. There is me, my husband and an entire nurse staff here!) The medical office is pristine. Being an interior designer with an architecture degree, I especially appreciate the mid century Killingsworth building. PMC: if you're reading this call me when you want to renovate the interior!! My husband is a LB architect too! We'll give you a deal! I have been seen by Dr. Livingston, Dr. Singh, and Dr. Ripp and they each have a different loving care and energy to appointments. The front desk staff is efficient and friendly. I never wait more then 5-10 minutes and they are good about calling the day before to confirm. After he appointment I usually walk straight out, easy peasy. Dedicated free parking lot. Separate entry for sick kids. Easy billing and appointment scheduling. read more

Awesome is the only way to describe this medical group. My 24 year old daughter was a patient of Dr Goodin until her 24 birthday. Yes I said 24 as they don't throw you out ! She is now about about to give birth to her 1st child and it's a no brainer of where to go. They have gone far beyond on many occasions. When your kid is sick wait times become frustrating to all of us. In almost 20 years I don't think I ever felt rushed by the doc. Matter of fact there were times when I wondered how can you a spend this much time with us. The answer was they care and occasionally that makes someone else wait. I don't think overbooking is the issue but sometimes overbooking is a necessary evil in order to make sure they get all the sick kids in. First and foremost, the doctors are great and my issue was never with them. My wife just had our 3rd child in March, all of whom have been patients at Pediatric Medical since birth. For the last year we've been receiving out of network bills from our insurance company. Obviously very concerned, I've walked into this office a total of five times to discuss the issue. Each and every time I was told to not worry about it, that we were definitely in network. Mind you, I have an Anthem Blue Cross PPO Plus. I trusted this office and what they were saying and not was that a mistake. Last week I was told that's they are very sorry for their mistake, but that they accept MOST PPO, but not PPO plus. Yesterday, after confronting the office manager I was told that legally it's my responsibility, and that even though they told me each and every time my insurance company was making the mistake, that the fault is mine and I would not be reimbursed anything. This office is run TERRIBLY! From the receptionist's to the Office manager, it's an absolute disgrace. My wife has complained for a year about the service she receives from the front desk, but it wasn't until we finally received confirmation about the office not taking the select plan that we decided to leave. Worst part, my insurance company warned me that offices may flat out lie to you. It's obvious that I was either lied to or misinformed out of laziness, considering it took all of five minutes for the receptionist to walk into the Office manager and find out we weren't in network. Would have been great to ask someone knowledgeable from the beginning instead of promising me everything was all ok. read more

Great pediatrician office. The doctors are great. Dr Theriot and Dr Livingston are my favorites, Dr Samson is also awesome. I haven't seen too much of the other doctors, but when I have seen them, they've been knowledgable and friendly. In general, the doctors have this anti-alarmist attitude which I love. Even when my kids were sick, in the NICU, going to the ER, the doctors were always calm and reasonable and realistic about expectations. They are thorough, but conservative in all the right ways. They don't rush to medicate and they maintain a good balance of medical intervention and letting nature run her course. The nuts and bolts: They have their own dedicated, free, parking lot. When you call during business hours, it's not an automated system, it's a person who answers and screens the calls. They may need to put you on hold, but they do screen to see if you can hold first. After hours they have an exchange than can have a doctor call you in minutes. They have same day appointments, after hours appointments, and Saturday appointments as needed. They do hospital rounds at LB Memorial so if you're delivering there, they'll check on your baby there. If your kid is admitted to the hospital, they will check on them there also just so when you see them for follow ups, they're up to speed. Office staff is warm and friendly, nursing staff is great. They have the well/sick separate waiting rooms as well as a teen room. Stickers a-plenty when kids are done with their appointments. read more

The Doctors: We've had the opportunity to see Dr. Cox and Dr. Theriot in the office and Dr. Samson while in the hospital after our baby was born. My husband and I were impressed with all three. Each has his/her own style, which likely differ from that of the other physicians as well. PMC is supportive of parents "shopping around" between the doctors so that as parents you choose the doctor you and your child have the best connection with. I saw another Yelper mention that one of the doctors was abrupt. I was initially caught off-guard by this as well. My impression changed, though, because it seemed to my husband and me that the doctor had a somewhat checklist approach of what to check for a regular check up and he wanted to make sure that he got through that before we got to any concerns we had. It made me feel like he was being very thorough. The Staff: The front desk staff has seemed nice so far, as have the rest of the office and nursing staff. So far, we haven't encountered the issues other Yelpers have. We also haven't had any billing issues. PMC bills my insurance directly and then sends me a bill for the balance. Appointment Availability: So far, we have had no problems scheduling appointments or making changes to appointments. I also like the fact that PMC has so many doctors. I grew up in a similar practice in which I had a primary pediatrician but saw the other pediatricians when mine wasn't available. I like the flexibility of this as a parent because it means that when needed, my baby will get the medical attention she needs. Parking: They have their own parking lot and we've never had a problem with parking. Other Perks: (1) They have a sick entrance and a regular entrance. Great for ensuring that patients and their parents don't get other kids sick. (2) The doctors all write down notes throughout the appointment and you are given a copy of the notes. It's great because you can keep the notes for your files. Overall: We've enjoyed our experience at PMC thus far and we are very much looking forward to our continued relationship with the practice. read more

These Doctors are awesome because they care and unfortunately I should know. We had some bad experiences with pedi's in the past that just didnt care and that's scary when it's your baby's health. I have seen Dr Welty and Dr Livingston and they were both brilliant! I worry alot and always have tons of questions, well, they answer them and don't rush me. Um... I love them. I've seen all the doctors except two. I'm always reluctant to try something new, so when I make an appointment and my preferred doctor isn't available, I'm always pleasantly surprised by the new doctor I've never seen before. So now, i just see whoever because they are all so wonderful. They are all friendly, patient and knowledgeable. Another reviewer posted "the doctors have this anti-alarmist attitude which I love." and that is so true. When I have a concern, I leave the office feeling very comfortable even though my child is sick. They really make you feel at ease. I work in the hospital and asked one of the pediatric nurses who are familiar with the different groups, and she highly recommended them and said she thought they were one of the best. The nursing staff are all very nice and personable. My husband loves them because they are just very practical doctors. I once had to call them after hours on a saturday night, and I thought I would wait a long time to get a call back, but much to my surprise, the after hours answering service put me to a doctor right away. He then told me to call back every 2 hours for the next 4 hours so he could get an update. I said "so if he has no symptoms do you still want me to call?" and his response was "Yes! I don't want to have to wonder what happened and worry while I'm at home!" That's dedication. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I recommend them to anyone looking for a pediatrician's office. Luckily I live close to them, but I would still make a drive to keep seeing them for my son. read more

I have been a patient at PMC for 2 years now. The wait time is ridiculous. I have never had an experience when i could be in and out in a 2 hour time frame just for a doctor's appointment. First you check in and wait for 15 mins(minimunm) to be called in once you are called in you wait at least 30 mins to 45 mins for the doctor to show up which is absolutely unacceptable. And then the doctor needs 30 mins and another 15 mins for vaccinations. This is the case if you are on time, if you are late they make you wait even longer. It gets extremely hard for a working mom if you have to report back to work within a certain time frame. I know for a fact that they double book patients all the time but practices should have respect for the patient's time and appointment. read more

Love PMC! I have been bringing both of my children there for over 10 years and have had a very positive experience. I appreciate the fact if you call and your child needs to be seen, the front staff will schedule the appointment for that day. Dr. Goodin, Dr. Theriot, and Dr. Livingston are amazing and very thorough in the examinations. The only reason I am only giving 4 stars is due to 2 misdiagnoses by Dr. Ripp and having to be put on hold by the front staff for an extended amount of time. This place is aweful especially when it comes to patient services. The worst pediatric experience ever. Starting from the phone call, they will not talk to you but put you on hold for 10-15 mins. ( I have multiple kids with them and that is the experience everytime, 7 yrs by now ). When I arrived on site, the staff would enjoy taking to each other but giving the service to customers. I witnessed they put clients phone calls on hold for long and just chatted and gossips to other staff. Overall, this is getting more like a business run by the government if you know what I meant - they do not care! I am so happy other people also point this out. Doctors we have seen seem to be ok. Well it looks like I am alone as far as my opinion on this Medical office. Pediatric Medical was highly recommended to me by my OBGYN who I completely adore! The first visit to meet Dr. Theriot I was impressed he was friendly and so was the staff but as 6 months passed I started noticing a HUGE difference. In a nutshell: 1) The wait time begin to increase to 45minutes or more 2) Primary doctor was NEVER available when making appointments way in advance 3) Dr. Samsung / Theriot made me feel VERY rushed and seemed annoyed to answer any questions I had. Theriot would often reply "I will get to that ? let me finish" Dr. Theriot and Samsung personalities were somewhat robotic and both Dr.s are very "Old School" 4) A test was given to my son 2x here that was not necessary according to our new Dr. also, Dr. Theriot was always in a rush that one time during my sons check up he missed a huge blister on his toe! There are many more things I could mention. 5) Pediatric Medical Center does not remind you that you have an appointment or when the next exam needs to be scheduled! This is my first child and I had no clue at what months to bring him in for his check-ups. My own dentist reminds me when my 6 month cleaning is due!! 6)They will bill you $25 when you phone in for any amount of advice. 7) The lady that collects co-payments etc...is completely rude 8) Nurses lack personality I feel as though my son is treated like a number here, there are many patients, They over book. I feel that the staff and doctors are about the dollar and not the children. I'm glad I went with my intuition and found a new Dr. I was hoping to find a place that made us feel like family and this was defiantly not the place! On a positive note there is one lady Barbara that works up front and handles all the check-ins She is very sweet and always smiling! She will be missed. We found PMC through our insurance company and the reviews online were positive. We had made appointments with other Pediatricians but after meeting with Dr. Cox for an informational interview, we cancelled the rest of our meetings. The Staff and Physicians are top rate. The Doctors, Nurses and Staff are all incredible warm and friendly and the office is a place where children feel at home. We've been seen mostly by Dr. Livingstone lately and we can't say enough about the care and concern she and the others have for our son. I have two daughters, ages 15 and 13. Both have been taken care of by PMC doctors since birth. We have been through it ALL together. I appreciate their knowledge and ability to explain things in regular English. They helped diagnose my daughter with a severe allergy to corn, which was causing her to have ADD tendencies. Once we eliminated the high fructose corn syrup - VOILA! She was able to focus in school and at home with her studies and has been living her best life without medication. When I was going through a terrible divorce, they referred us to the best child psychologists and always called to see how my girls and I were doing. They are doctors with a heart and great skill and references for other medical professionals. The staff and nurses are kind, helpful, and treat kids and parents with respect. The facilities are SPOTLESS and happy. I cannot imagine sending my kids anywhere else for medical care. We are now usually seen by the two female doctors, Dr. Livingston, and Dr. Singh, because my girls are more comfortable being seen by women. Every child deserves to be seen by exceptional pediatricians, and every parent deserves to experience medical care they can trust for their child. PMC doctors, nurses, and staff provide all of this, naturally. I cannot imagine sending my girls to any other healthcare professional. Thank you PMC! read more

Tried to schedule an appointment and was turned away because we want to delay vaccines as our child had a regression in milestones post one of his vaccines. He is finally able to hold himself up again after 3 months. The office manager was very condescending and rude. All I wanted was to schedule an appointment to consult with a physician, and to get his opinion on how to proceed but the office manager had to get on her high horse and share her disapproval of my concern regarding my child's vaccine schedule. She was very dismissive and indicated that Pediatric Medical Center was not for my son. She went on to state that her daughter had had a reaction to MMR and that she didn't care. great doctors, BUT my only concern was about the nurses. My baby got a vaccine from a person who didn't wear any gloves, didn't wash her hands before the procedure and sticked the band-aid on her hand like it was a post-itbefore putting on my baby's leg. As a dentist I know the high standards hygene procedures and DON'T let you baby having any medical procedure with a nurse like that. I was so nervous with my baby crying due the vaccine that couldn't complain and tell her to at least wash the hands first. Don't let your baby having vaccines like this! read more

My wife and I chose this pediatric group after much research before the birth of our first child. He's 2 1/2 now, and our experience with the doctor's and front office staff has been nothing less than exceptional. As first time parents, we aways feel like we can call and speak with a nurse for any advice/questions we may have. Hands down best Pediatricians I have ever seen. My sons are now 17 and 13. My older son has a variety of rather complex health issues and I know that he gets the best care available. We tend to see Dr. SAmson the most but also have had excellent experiences with Dr. SIngh and Dr. RIpp. I would never take my children anywhere else. read more

Today was our first day here. Our other pediatrician retired. What a great office! All staff was so nice and friendly especially Barbara who helped to make sure we had all of our paperwork and answered all questions. We saw Dr. Theriot and I must say what a nice man. He didn't rush around and he sat and listened to me and my daughter. He directed questions to her and made her feel like her opinion mattered. (She is 11) I found this office through a post I did on Facebook asking my friends for referrals. I received over 15 messages telling me how great this place is...I agree. When we left they even made us an appointment with an Orthopedic doctor to make sure my daughters broken finger heals properly. read more

Our daughter has Prader Willi Syndrome and requires a team of medical professionals. Dr. Welty is the leader of our team and has been since our little one got out of the NICU. He has always directed us to top notch specialists to handle things beyond his expertise and manages our specials day to day health with poise and concern. Don't even get me started on the outstanding nurses and staff there who all recognize our now 7 year old miracle. We have been with Dr. Theriot and the other doctors at PMC for over 17 years, and while the practice has grown very large in that time, I have never felt as my children were not well taken cared of. Sometimes it is hard to get in for a routine appointment, but your child will always been seen that day if they are sick. As far as something the doctor "missed", it is our responsibility as parents to bring up any concern we have to the doctor. As far as a "phone fee", I probably call the office for advice more than any other mother (lol) and have NEVER, EVER been charged a fee in the seventten years my boys have been patients and 9 times out of 10 I get a phone call about the next day's appointment from the cheery Miss Barbara! read more

I have a 20 month old baby, my first one and this office was recommended to us by my wonderful OB, Dr. Kelvie. I have 6 out of the 6 doctors there and have been very impressed so far. They are super with my baby and patient with me and all my questions. Also, whenever I have a question outside of my scheduled vistis, I can always call them and someone there will help me with whatever it is! Great staff, great doctors. My son sees Dr Theriot. Dr Theriot is so patient and kind. He thoroughly explains everything. He answers any questions I have and never makes me feel rushed. My daughter sees Dr Singh. She is also wonderful. Very patient and explains everything clearly. I've seen most of the other doctors for non-routine sick appointments for my children. All of the doctors have been great. I appreciate the Saturday availability as well.
