The doctor my kids saw was awesome, great with kids. Other than that, this place has let me down. I got a bill for $210 for each of my kids. So I owed $420. At the bottom said my insurance didnt cover it. I have vision insurance. I called because I was confused because I DO have insurance. The lady told me they have to bill my medical even thought it is for an EYE exam and EYE doctor. I said can you please charge my vision insurance because I do have insurance she said sorry we're not a Walmart were a specialist practice and charge your medical. The receptionist was rude and even the billing lady wouldn't help. So had to pay the $420 even with insurance. A big amount I wasn't aware I would have to pay. They are scamming patients. Wish I would've saw past reviews before taking my kids here. Hope this helps someone in the future. read more

Read before you schedule an appt. My son saw Dr. Pennock from here for 4 years. Dr. Pennock personally is a really nice guy, but every time we went - every 6 months, my son would tell him even with the adjusted prescription, things were still blurry. The Dr. would tell him it's a 20/20 prescription and insist that it was correct. They don't have any up-to-date eye machines to check prescriptions - still use the glasses with an insertable lens. After the last visit where the wait time was 1.5 hrs (ridiculous in my opinion), I ended up taking my son to America's Best. They used their up-to-date technology and told us that the prescription Dr. Pennock had written was not correct. My son had astigmatism which we were never told about, and that's why he has not been able to see clearly for the past 4 years. How does an eye doctor miss the fact that there's astigmatism? America's Best gave him the correct prescription and now after suffering for years, my son can finally see clearly. read more

Shady billing practices. Hoping they see this and change their ways or someone will eventually report them to medicare or their insurance company for abuse. Our prior provider there was excellent and billed completely appropriately, using our vision insurance for eye exams. Saw her multiple times. She left. New provider and maybe new front desk staff. We were there for the yearly eye exams and have the same vision insurance as usual. This time they asked for our medical insurance card before we were even seen. They asked us to sign things on an electronic signature without showing us the form for which we are signing (or offering to show it to us until I mentioned this is not good practice). for the first time BOTH CHILDREN were charged through their medical insurance for what just routine eye exams. We have been there multiple times with the prior provider and always billed though vision. How is it that neither child required medical vision exams before--for years. And SUDDENLY BOTH children meet a medical exam criteria?? They came up with diagnoses which were NOT WHY WE WERE THERE. Maybe true but NOT treated and not reason we were seeing her! One diagnosis was NOT even MENTIONED to us!! Yet we were billed for it instead of the regular eye exam. They did reverse this when I challenged this. They held onto the other medical bill for a very weak reason. these upcharges are certainly a compliance issue. These are unnecessary costs to the medical insurance companies and to the patients. Noting another person complained that he was charge two $40 bills when he sould only have been charged one. The staff admitted this was wrong. The provider is really nice and seems thorough. Am sure she would provide good medical care. Would not hesitate to recommend her for medical issues. Maybe she thinks she's doing people a favor by billing their medical insurance because not eveyone has vision insurance? read more

Don't go here for eye exams, vision insurance doesn't cover it. And the exam is subpar. They didn't accept our vision insurance and never told us until after they sent a bill for $250 and we called to complain. Their excuse is they're medical doctors - but they never told my wife. Had she known that, she would have gone elsewhere - but we weren't even given that option. To top it off, she said the exam was a joke, less than 10 minutes, a fraction of a typical eye exam. When I spoke with them, they said we would never tell anyone vision insurance would cover an eye exam (imagine that!), and that my wife must have misunderstood. My wife said that if she'd known we didn't have vision coverage there, she would have walked out the door before the exam. read more

Receptionist was super rude, wife had an expired insurance card, the provider called 3 times & the receptionist just kept sending to a. Voicemail billing Dept... I then took matters into my own hands & called directly. The girl I spoke to was super rude refused to look up the correct insurance numbers I was offering. Very rudely with sour toned voice she replied, " it's not her job, it's our job to bring the correct card to the appointment". The rudeness was so overwhelming I'm shocked someone hasn't demoted her to Walmart cashier. Needless to say we paid directly because she refused any further treatment without the correct card which I had available by phone but she wouldn't take the info over the phone. Now I gotta file reimbursement forms with my insurance provider etc.... All to save this rude lady 30 seconds of actual work manually entering insurance numbers. Makes it even worse I emailed my concerns directly to the office & no one bothered to follow up to make amends Needless to say I'm searching for a new pediatric eye doctor office to aid my daughter & her vision problems. read more

I had a 13:45 appointment for my 1.5 year old, got in the room around 2:10 which is 25 minutes late. Wait in the room till 14:30 which is almost a hour from my original appointment and still have not see her doctor. I got an appointment within 24 hours of my call. That's almost unheard of! I was scheduled with one physician who started the exam but she quickly realized that another physician in the office would be better suited because of potential surgery that would need to be performed and she went and got the other physician who completed the exam for me. It was super convenient that I didn't have to come back for a second visit with the second physician and that they just worked me into the schedule. I am super grateful with how reasonable, knowledgable and logical the staff and physicians are in this office. Everything was super smooth. I couldn't be happier. read more

deceptive billing practices-will NOT go back. I took my kids for their bi annual exam which is covered by my insurance at no expense to me. Well...because my one son has a small glitch in one eye that is no big deal at all simply something that is looked at, similar to a mole, he was sent into insurance as a medical case and his WHOLE VISIT came out of my pocket. They actually tried to bill my other son as a new patient (which we weren't, we just had not been in a couple years) and code it so THAT wouldn't be covered but finally resent that for me but wouldn't budge on my other son's. Meanwhile this 'mole' took all but a half of a second to even look at and I am out $135 bucks. It was disappointing that they couldn't work with me there and I won't go back. read more

I really dislike this place. My daughter broke her glasses so I went to get them fixed at 5:30 pm and they were closed when they were supposed to be open until 6. Had to go the next day and they were to busy talking about tacos to acknowledge me let alone help me until after 15 minutes. Then my daughter was scheduled for an appointment and they were trying to say my daughter didn't have an appointment that day when I kept insisting she did and I have the appointment card to prove I they just said oh well they must not have put it in the computer. I do not usually write reviews unless a service is exceptional. My experience here was unfortunately EXCEPTIONALLY POOR and I hope to save others the aggravation and disrespect we had here by sharing my experience. I had an appointment at 3:30 for both children. We were taken back late by an unintroduced staff member who did not tell us her title or explain the procedures she was about to do to my children. My daughter used her words to express her concern with eye drops getting instilled since that was a new procedure and her fear was negated and the drops were put in with little explanation, just saying she is of age now to receive them. We sat in the room without any staff communicating to us until I went out to the lobby at 5pm asking for the doctor. I understand extenuating circumstances and situations happening beyond control, but NOTHING was said to us. I am a forgiving and easy going person. If a child needed more time than my children, all they had to do was use their words and I would have graciously surrendered our appointment and rescheduled. My time was wasted and when Eric Pennock finally entered, he quickly and very insincerely said "sorry about the wait" and immediately sat in a chair WITH HIS BACK TO US and began writing. When I tried to express my concern over lack of communication by any staff for an unreasonable wait time, he CONTINUED to speak WITH HIS BACK TO ME seated in the chair. At that point I asked him to please no longer disrespect me as a human and customer and at the very least turn his chair around and give me eye contact. I have NEVER been so DISRESPECTED by ANY health professional. I explained my concern and how the situation could have been easy to accept if there was any COMMUNICATION. I have zero respect for this doctor based on bedside manners, negating my concerns, waiting over two hours to be seen, and talking with his back to me in front of my children, NO THANK YOU, I will never RETURN nor RECOMMEND this establishment or doctor. read more

Just visited this office for the first time ever was told to arrive at a specified time and there would be forms to fill out. Walked in and there was no receptionist. Found out from another client where the sign in sheet was. Waited. Receptionist finally came out. Asked her about the paper work (while no one was at the desk) and got "I will be with you in just a moment" with attitude. At this point we had already been there for approximate 20-30 mins. Waited some more. Receptionist brought the paper work over and waited some more. About after an hour I went to go see how much longer and was told we were next. Waited another 15 mins and decided this was terrible customer service and will go somewhere else. When I told the receptionist I was leaving she said she understood without any compassion whatsoever and said that when you are an "emergency visit" they work you in when they can. I told this as I could potentially be waiting here for the day. None of this was explained when I called in and who knows I'd probably still be waiting there with a 3 year old. I will never go back and waste more hours of my life and deal with a snarky receptionist who thinks her crap doesn't stink. News flash for this office tell patients what to expect and tell them a time you can ACTUALLY see them. I've had better experience at urgent care facilities and hospital emergency rooms. Huge thumbs down from me and it's sad because the doctors may actually be good. I wouldn't know wait time is longer than I'm willing to wait to see any doctor. read more

Took my 4 year old here because I thought they would be extra patient with him since he's a small child. Big mistake. We had a 9am appt and they made us sit in the waiting room until 10:30am. So of course my son was totally uncooperative by the time they took him back. The dr was not understanding, so impatient, and getting frustrated because my son wouldn't cooperate. (But after you make a small child wait 1.5 hours what do you expect?) Diagnosed him with a lazy eye to get him out the door and didn't even tell me which eye was lazy until I had to double-check with the receptionist on the way out (Not her job!) Would have asked the dr, but he didn't tell me and then left abruptly. What a joke. Steer clear. read more
