My son has been going to this office since he was born and I will be completely honest I hated…read moregoing to this doctors office, each and every visit. It was like dreading a root canal. Between the rude front desk, HIGH TURN OVER RATE ( I swear every visit I would see someone new who didn't know what they were doing), the unorganized staff in the back to the ridiculously long wait times, it was just too much to tolerate. So I stopped taking him for a while to this office. Now after I had my daughter I gave this office another try, due to the fact it was close to my home. But once again experienced the same HORRIBLE, UNORGANIZED, RUDE service. So I stopped taking her. It wasn't until I returned to Virginia to handle my daughters 3 year visit that all of that changed. I had the absolute pleasure of getting an appointment with a new practitioner they hired by the name of Arielle!!! And OMG!!!!!!! this doctor is absolutely AMAZING!!!!!! From start to finish she completely made not only myself but my daughter feel so comfortable!!!! My daughter was pulled back ON TIME, and everything ran like a well oiled machine!!!!! Arielle was BEYOND PROFESSIONAL and so personable (I say this because a lot of those drs are very dry and have little to no personalities) at the same time!! Arielle stayed smiling with my daughter, laughing with her and was so THROUGH!! She even called after her appointment to follow up with results after a test that was given and was even just as great over the phone. I LOVE HER and wouldn't make another appointment to see anyone but her! I was so pleased. Thank you seriously Arielle over and over again!!!!

Despite moving to Norfolk, we still drive all the way to Greenbriar to see her doc because the staff is both kind and professional, and they go out of their way to help us get sorted with med refills, quick appointments when she's sick, and treatment that's not solely focused around pills. I appreciate the fact that they can also now do med refills by electronic process instead of having to go down to the office to get a physical script form each time it needs refilled.

We were forced to go to a 3rd party urgent care only to wait 2 hours and have them direct us to CHKD ER which took another 4 hours. By this time my son was in awful shape. All we needed was antibiotics prescribed! Why was it that my PCP could not see him? 3 o'clock on a weekday is completely reasonable to see a return patient when all we needed was standard antibiotics. This place is too worried about their own agendas and not about real emergencies and patient care. This is our community and we pay top dollar premiums to receive this sort of "health care". You almost have to be a rude family to receive prompt care. It should not be this way. I feel it's the staffs issue not the doctors. I run a health care facility and compassionate care is not here or at least not when we really needed it. They try to solve problems with stickers.

Communication with the office is TERRIBLE. It is close to impossible to reach someone at the office and their automatic answering service to leave voicemails is faulty. I have spent more time trying to contact the office than ever actually being there. We have had experiences with the nursing staff being rude and sadly the establishment is far from welcoming and very outdated. In the end, although we did appreciate Toland's knowledge and care for our child, the disorganized business side and unwelcoming staff led us to leave this practice and seek care elsewhere.

He was seen in the Emergency Department, the Pediatric ICU, and in the in-patient Neuroscience unit, along with being seen by doctors in Endocrinology. Every single person, from the nursing care partners, to the nurses to the doctors and specialists, were fully engaged in his treatment and care. They provided regular updates on his status and the treatments he was receiving. Their professionalism and dedication made this scary experience much easier to deal with and I was confident that my son was receiving the best care possible. In addition to the amazing medical staff, the rest of the CHKD staff was very helpful and attentive as well, to include the dietary specialists, the intake registration, the janitorial staff, the Chaplain, the pharmacy and the integrative care team. I've never had such a positive medical experience in my life and I really want to thank CHKD for helping my son through this difficult situation.

She was exceptional, as was Ryan, the registered nurse who cared for my son in the post-operative unit. About a week before surgery, I was informed that only one parent would be allowed to stay overnight. After surgery, we were transferred to 7C - POD A, where Mikayla was our registered nurse during the day shift (7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) on Wednesday and Thursday. I was told my son would need to stay overnight so the medical team could monitor his fluid intake and ensure he was able to take his medications. When we arrived in Room 718A, I noticed there was another patient area on the opposite side of a curtain. I asked Mikayla if another family could be assigned to the room, and she confirmed that they could. Since there was only one bathroom, it would also have to be shared. I immediately had concerns about this arrangement. There was very little privacy, and I did not feel comfortable or safe not knowing who might be staying on the other side of the curtain. Sharing a bathroom with another family also raised concerns about sanitation. After we settled into the room, Mikayla brought in IV Tylenol and explained that the physician had ordered Motrin to be given orally, which made sense because they wanted to monitor my son's ability to swallow. However, I mentioned that Ryan and Dr. Baldassari had both informed me that my son would also receive a steroid to help reduce swelling in his throat. Mikayla was unaware of this medication at first, but after I explained what I had been told, the steroid was eventually administered through his IV. At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, another family was admitted to the other side of our room. It appeared to be a husband, wife, and their child. My concern is this: if I was told only one parent could stay overnight, why was it acceptable for two parents to stay with another patient in the same room? In addition, I could clearly hear conversations regarding that child's medical care and upcoming procedure. This was a significant violation of patient privacy. Sharing a room separated only by a curtain, along with sharing a bathroom, did not seem appropriate from either a privacy or sanitation standpoint. Unfortunately, my interactions with Mikayla became increasingly uncomfortable. I felt that she became visibly frustrated with me. She rolled her eyes, and her tone of voice changed after I expressed that I did not want to stay another night with my three-year-old son. I understood the medical team's concerns because my son was reluctant to take his Tylenol and Motrin by mouth and had not met the required fluid intake. He drank approximately 190 mL instead of the required 300 mL for discharge. However, I explained that he is only three years old, had just undergone major surgery, and was not in a familiar environment. I assured her that he would likely drink more and take his medication once he returned home. Later that morning, after I asked when the doctor would be coming by, Mikayla stated that the physician had already seen me. I explained that a doctor briefly came into the room around 6:00 a.m., which startled me because I was asleep, and I was not under the impression that another overnight stay would be necessary. I politely requested to speak with the physician again. Mikayla appeared irritated and responded that she would send the doctor a message herself. After breakfast, Mikayla returned and informed me that she was preparing my son's discharge paperwork so we could "skedaddle." I found that comment to be unprofessional and inappropriate when speaking to a patient's family. While reviewing the discharge instructions, she repeatedly asked me, "Make sense?" I felt that her communication was condescending rather than respectful. I already had Tylenol and Motrin at home, but Dr. Baldassari had informed me that a prescription for Dexamethasone would also be sent to our pharmacy. I asked Mikayla whether that prescription had been sent. She stated that she was unsure and would contact the physician. After we packed our belongings, she returned and asked which pharmacy we used instead of confirming that the prescription had already been sent. I explained that we live in North Carolina and asked that it be sent to our local CVS pharmacy. I never received a notification from the pharmacy that day. The following morning, July 3, 2026, I contacted the hospital and spoke with the charge nurse on the morning regarding the prescription for Dexamethasone. The charge nurse searched the system and told me the prescription was sent to CHKD outpatient pharmacy located downstairs in the hospital. I informed her I told Mikayla before I left yesterday and I watched her right the pharmacy down to send the order to due me living in North Carolina. The charge nurse explained it wasn't Mikayla's fault.

I kindly asked "can we please focus on rescheduling I have to tend to my 2mo old" she THREATENS to ban me from their practice!! I reschedule the appointment but I received a letter in the mail them dropping my sons from their practice because I didn't like how she was talking to me on the phone!! This practice is not new, but new to the PA area…read more The location is beside the new Sentara Hospital and closer to Princess Anne Rd. in the Glenn Mitchell Building. I have only been to this satellite office twice and have been impressed. The entire complex is only seven years old and still looks new. The parking lot has plenty of room and has always been clean. The small lobby prior to getting on the elevator was clear of debris. Two elevators are in the three story building which is adequate. Sentara Pediatric is located on the third floor, right off the elevators and left side of corridor. The check in has been very easy and proved a breeze on my last visit too. They of course need an insurance card on every visit which is there new policy. AS well asking if your child, or you have traveled outside of the U.S. The waiting room is new, spacious, sophisticated and even has a new born area that is walled off with class. This is the waiting room that you seldom get, but always want. A few toys are on the table, but no annoying TV running kids cartoons, or movies that usually get ignored any way. It took no time at all for my son to be called back to his primary physician Dr. Victoria Strasnick. Her nurse Mary did her thing with weight and height first. The back area is very clean and organized. I also saw the doctors secretary Candice who answers the phone and is super wonderful all of the time. The standard put in a room and told the doctor will be in shortly which in some offices could mean 10-15, maybe in 20 plus minutes. Well my son's doctor popped in immediately and gave him a great exam. She also allows time to talk about how he is doing at school, look at his current games he plays on his phone and is most often high energy smiling constantly. We come to this practice for several reasons, most certainly Dr. Strasnick who has been often voted best of Hampton Roads. However, we also go her for there ease of getting into the office and that is usually a pitfall of pediatricians, especially on Mondays. Another reason is office sick visits that start at 7:30 AM, no appointment required, this is rare folks. Also, she has a great supporting cast of experienced physicians around her, important when your doctor may be on vacation etc. This is now our 10th year with Sentara Pediatric Physicians. I have recommended them to many friends, several who now have there children as patients. I often get thanked by these friends because they know the difference and in some cases had made changes. Our family has been happy with their care and I think yours would be too
