We had our last session with Emmy today and we were so sad about it! We were with Emmy for two months starting when my son was 20 months old, who wasn't babbling or saying any words save for some animal sounds, and the progress he made in those 7 weeks was nothing short of remarkable. He's babbling, using a lot of sign language to communicate, and has started saying a ton more words. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Having gone with him to every session, I also learned a lot about how to better communicate with my son and how to give him the tools he needs to succeed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only reason we left Pediatric Therapy Playhouse was because we qualified for the free early intervention program through the state -- otherwise we would've stayed with Emmy! He was speech-delayed and had not been diagnosed with autism yet. He began with Hannah (she is no longer here) and now sees Claire. She is fantastic as well. They can't even keep an appointment. I lived very far and it hard to request a day off. I even email the therapist malina the day before regarding the appointment and she said nothing. Then in the morning they called yo cancel my appointment because she called out sick. So now I can't cancel my day off and I won't be able to request another day off to take my child for awhile. I was told to fill out an intake form via a portal and when I was unable to work the portal which has has a million questions and kept kicking me off they promptly cancelled my appointment and refused to take my info via email or on the phone. My son received services from pediatric therapy playhouse for almost two years. In those two years they only focused on his AAC device. Never his actual speech which was really important to us. I decided to call PTP to tell them what my family wanted to focus on which was to help my son with certain sounds he's having difficulty with. We want a professional to teach him how and where to place your tongue in order to produce sounds/ words. I asked Jennifer if that was something a speech therapist does or should I be looking for a different specialist. She told me that IS something a speech therapist should do yet she asked me if I've called other facilities. Why would I have to call other facilities when you just admitted that's something a speech therapist should do? That was rude. After that comment, I asked to talk to someone else and she said "they're just going to tell you the same thing". Which Was basically that they can't help me, even tho that's something that should be offered. Instead of having someone else follow up with me, they had the CEO Jessie Ginsburg email me. In the email she states that she went ahead and contacted our SLP from the past two years and our current one. I didn't appreciate how the manner was handled. I believe I should have received a call first, Jessie should have collected the facts from me first before running to our therapist to stir the pot. I felt like I was in high school. I said something that was concerning me and they ran to tell everyone involved before checking in with me. It made me feel too uncomfortable to continue services with our current SLP. That and I refuse to continue paying this company that has wasted our time and money. Early intervention is so important and I'm so disappointed we trusted PTP with these vital years and they never even taught my son not one word. read more

My son was diagnosed with mild Autism when he was 3 years old. Our son was a 3 years old non-verbal with mild autism. We really did not know what to think or do about it, all we knew is that we needed to find help with his speech and development. We really don't think we could of done all we have done without Jessie's help. Jessie helped us with the school process and of curse with our son's language. My son who will be 3 next month has been seeing Hannah twice a week for about 2 months. We still have a long way to go but even is this short of a time I've seen great improvement on my sons speech. He was already a talker but spoke inaudible speech, sign language, and only mommy knows what you want language. Anyways since these 2 months he's become more clear and even putting two works together. Something he wasn't doing before Hannah. Like I said, we still have a long road ahead of us, but a very pleasant and enjoyable one. My son enjoys "playing" with all of Hannah's toys and learning at the same time. Jessie was a gift to our entire family. When she started to work with my 3 year old son, he was non-verbal. We had worked with several speech therapists over a year and a half with limited success. Jessie started using prompt on our son and we started seeing results very quickly. Over the year we worked with Jessie his language started to explode from utterances to 3-5 word phrases. She was creative and thoughtful about the "games" she played with him and how she engaged him. She created a special little camp for him and other kids in the practice using the Hanen method. Of course my son couldn't appreciate all Jessie brought to the table but adored her and loved working with her every week. As for me, I loved that she included our whole family. She was conscientious about educating me each session so I could continue the work at home. Before we fully understood my sons challenges she was supportive and encouraging about my sons prognosis and future abilities. I often felt discouraged, scared and frustrated by the confusion around my son's diagnosis but Jessie remained consistent, thoughtful and hopeful. My older two children would sometimes attend our sessions and Jessie would include them at the end of the session and teach them how to engage my youngest in speech play. What a gift! 4 years into speech therapy we've worked with 8 (at least) speech therapists both privately and through school. Jessie walks the wonderful line of familiarity, gentleness, and playfulness but also professional, disciplined and appropriate. Sometimes you don't know what you were looking for until you find it. For us, it was Jessie for our son's speech development. We were sad to lose her to Los Angeles. If you're reading this, good luck. I know how discouraging it can be to have a child with delays. It sometimes moves at snails pace but is so worth it in the end to hear them talk and see their confidence. read more

As a result, my girls are talking nonstop! Jessie also worked with my 3 year old son who has Aspergers. She uses Floortime Therapy and pairs my son with other peers to help him with his social skills. Jessie gives me a detailed home plan each week, which is great for me, my husband and our au pair. Jessie is a fantastic speech therapist and we feel so lucky to have found her! My son started with her when he was 22 months old. Though he understood language well, he didn't speak any words. Jessie used PROMPT to show him how to make sounds with his mouth, and she taught me lots of techniques that we could practice at home. She was great at teaching him through play and finding the right toys that he responded to. My son always looked forward to seeing her and I was thrilled to see him make progress very quickly. Jessie and Samantha are incredible professionals!! My son needed speech therapy for a language delay and we came here for several months as they took our insurance. After an initial consult over the phone with Jessie, we were booked with Samantha for his therapy sessions. Samantha is a breath of fresh air and so good with children. My son made a lot of progress in a few short months. She allows parents and caregivers into the sessions so that she can teach them how to follow-up at home. She also suggests using special programs like PROMPT and Hanen methods to help keep the conversation going at home. I would whole-heartedly recommend these two women. We worked with Jessie for almost a year. My then two year old had a speech delay with little verbal communication. She understood verbal commands, but could not speak her mind, using gestures and noises. We were referred by a friend and saw Jessie once a week for just under a year. My daughter looked forward to seeing Jessie. She called her "my friend" and loved playing with her. Jessie worked with my daughter through play. The three of us were on the floor playing for the entire time. I was able to learn, practice and ask questions about continuing the work at home by being in the room and working along side Jessie. She encouraged me and gave guidance on best practices for outside the therapy session. When we finished with Jessie, my daughter's vocabulary increased so much. She is a talker and doesn't need gestures anymore. She has a good use of the K and G sounds, back of the throat sounds, that we spent a lot of time on and really helped in understanding her.
