Our son has been…read morecoming for about a year and we already see tremendous improvement that has given both him and us (his parents) so much confidence. Melissa specifically has been incredible. She is patient, always willing to talk to us, and even communicates with his teachers at school to ensure our son is always getting the care and support he needs. She's also extremely knowledgeable, and is able to explain the roadmap for what she is working on not only now, but in the future, and how it will help our son overcome the challenges he came in with. We are so grateful we found Child Success!

We received a call within an hour of him being at the camp that he was stressed and overstimulated and didn't want to participate, so he was going to need extra support to stay. This was shocking to me considering how little time he had been there, that the point of it was to help kids adjust to kindergarten, and that their ratio was 2 adults to 7 kids. They told me that he consistently improved over the course of the first day and further improved on the second day, but that it would be too costly to keep another adult there to help him. It was sad for us because he left on a high note, telling me that he'd made a friend and that he had done a better job staying in the group. He clearly felt like a success and I wish he'd been given the opportunity to continue improving, but I didn't want him to stay at a camp where the facilitators believed that he was too much for them. He successfully did a year of TK last year and several other camps this summer, some with a ratio of 1 adult to 16 kids. CSC was polite to me and pro-rated me the other days, but it was upsetting because I assumed the most expensive camp I signed up for this summer (held at a therapy location) would be the greatest success, not the one camp that had to call me about an issue. This camp may work out for kids who are already very familiar with their gym environment and don't really need that much help when they feel anxious, but if you're looking for something that will help your child if they struggle in a new environment, this does not seem like the best choice. Some camps that worked well for us this summer were Pedalheads, Compass Clinic's Friendship Island Camp, Campbell Hall's Creative Arts Camp, and Destination Science.

Now, a year later at age 4, He's talking more, expressing himself better, and his confidence has grown so much. His therapists, Ms. Kenzie and Ms. Emily, are incredible -- patient, caring, and very skilled. But what truly stands out is that the entire Santa Monica team operates with the same level of kindness, professionalism, and inclusivity. Everyone there is welcoming and supportive from the moment you walk in. They work with children of all abilities and all types of speech disorders, including kids with autism, ASL users, and children who communicate with AAC devices. They are respectful, inclusive, and meet each child right where they are. They also involve the whole family, offering guidance and tools so we can support our son at home. My son feels safe, understood, and excited for his sessions each week. Their flexibility with scheduling -- whether in-person or Zoom -- has been a huge help for our busy family. I truly can't say enough good things about this entire team. They've made such a positive difference in my son's communication and overall confidence. Highly recommend to any parent seeking caring and inclusive speech therapy.

The general consensus was that my little guy just had a speech delay and would eventually catch up. His progress would plateau quickly, and it felt like something was missing or just wasn't clicking for him. Word-of-mouth led us to an assessment with Lisa when my son was about 2.5 years old. From the very first session, I could tell she really got him. Lisa immediately (correctly) suspected apraxia and began using a completely different approach tailored to his needs. The progress he has made in just five months has been nothing short of amazing. Lisa's expertise is unmatched, and you can feel how deeply invested she is in helping your child succeed. She and her wonderful team--especially Seenu and Erin--know exactly how to challenge my little guy while keeping every session fun, encouraging, and full of positivity. He happily walks into his sessions and comes out smiling every single time. Lisa is also incredibly responsive and collaborative. Working with her truly feels like a partnership. For the first time, I feel like we have a real plan and are seeing meaningful progress. We are beyond grateful for Lisa, Seenu, and Erin--they've truly changed our lives!

I waited till my little one was 18 months to apply for him to be tested through the state. Sure enough he was found to be a little delayed and needed speech therapy. The process was easy, three therapist came to my home to test him. They all made recommendations for speech therapy. A few days later I was contacted by Sara and she offered to be his therapist. We started seeing her right away. Her process is a little different as she asks the parents not to get involved between her and the child. I saw him struggle, I saw her push, they both interacted with each other in their own ways. My son has gotten frustrated several times but she never gave up. She kept on pushing, she took notes with all the words he started saying and asked me to go over them at home. It was like I had homework as a parent. A few months later my son had a whole list of the vocabulary words. He is still not able to say full sentences but he's getting there. Phrases like thank you and help me or what we're hearing more of now. He's able to put two words together which is the start. Sarah has another speech therapist that helps her when she's not available. Her name is Jennifer. Jennifer is the complete opposite, she likes parents to interact with the child. She teaches me how to teach him at home or how to make him say words. Overall I feel like I'm getting the best of both worlds and my son keeps on thriving.
