We have had such a great experience at Child Success for occupational therapy. Our son has been coming for about a year and we already see tremendous improvement that has given both him and us (his parents) so much confidence. Melissa specifically has been incredible. She is patient, always willing to talk to us, and even communicates with his teachers at school to ensure our son is always getting the care and support he needs. She's also extremely knowledgeable, and is able to explain the roadmap for what she is working on not only now, but in the future, and how it will help our son overcome the challenges he came in with. We decided to do the Kinder Prep Camp after having done the Friendship Club, and were very disappointed with the lack of compassion and accommodation for our anxious 5-year-old compared to all the other regular camps we did this summer. We received a call within an hour of him being at the camp that he was stressed and overstimulated and didn't want to participate, so he was going to need extra support to stay. This was shocking to me considering how little time he had been there, that the point of it was to help kids adjust to kindergarten, and that their ratio was 2 adults to 7 kids. They told me that he consistently improved over the course of the first day and further improved on the second day, but that it would be too costly to keep another adult there to help him. It was sad for us because he left on a high note, telling me that he'd made a friend and that he had done a better job staying in the group. He clearly felt like a success and I wish he'd been given the opportunity to continue improving, but I didn't want him to stay at a camp where the facilitators believed that he was too much for them. He successfully did a year of TK last year and several other camps this summer, some with a ratio of 1 adult to 16 kids. CSC was polite to me and pro-rated me the other days, but it was upsetting because I assumed the most expensive camp I signed up for this summer (held at a therapy location) would be the greatest success, not the one camp that had to call me about an issue. This camp may work out for kids who are already very familiar with their gym environment and don't really need that much help when they feel anxious, but if you're looking for something that will help your child if they struggle in a new environment, this does not seem like the best choice. Some camps that worked well for us this summer were Pedalheads, Compass Clinic's Friendship Island Camp, Campbell Hall's Creative Arts Camp, and Destination Science. read more

We truly can't say enough good things about the Child Success Center. When we first came here, we were feeling lost and overwhelmed--our 4-year-old son had just been expelled from preschool due to aggressive behavior, and we didn't know where to turn. From the moment we walked through the doors, we felt seen, supported, and understood. The team at CSC is not only incredibly knowledgeable and professional, but also deeply caring and attuned to our child's unique needs. Iana and Sam have been a God-send for us. They approach our son with compassion and skill, and we've seen him thrive as a result. The progress we've seen has been nothing short of remarkable. His behavior has improved dramatically, his sleep is better, his confidence has grown, and his overall demeanor has shifted in such a positive way. He's happier, calmer, and more connected to the people/world around him. As parents, we've learned so much through this whole-child approach. The staff takes the time to educate and empower us. We stumbled upon the Childhood Success Center through a google search for a social skills group and Melissa took us through the journey of OT and more. It's been about a year and we have seen our daughter grow leaps and bounds and are so grateful for the CSC. Even during times of staff turnover, Melissa helped us find a therapist that fit our daughter not only skills-wise, but in temperament. Unfortunately, despite their services, this review is of their billing department which is oddly on time with charging your card but less so in providing a receipt of payment. They have also, on occasion, charged my card incorrectly. For those filing their super bill with insurance and require a receipt of payment, my recommendation is to consistently follow up with their billing department and to make sure your billing statements reflect their charge. I was once billed ~$600 incorrectly at a point in which I caught it in time; they promptly reversed before the charge was posted. The latest mischarge took about a month to refund due to an error on CSC's side as well as vendor processing error. I will say that they are very amenable to correct, but you will have to escalate if it is taking longer than usual. Unfortunate that this is something to manage as well, but please be aware. read more

Kindly, friendly and knowledgeable are how I describe Melissa and staff. I had never heard of sensory processing disorder and mistakenly thought OT was for rehabilitation of gross motor skills. I learned so much! Paige was able to help my daughter engage in therapy, social skills and own the strengths she already had. Our son has been going to CSC for over a year for speech, OT and behavioral therapy (aba) in the center and school setting. He is a completely different child (in a good way!) since becoming a part of the CSC family. I say family, because that's how their practitioners treat each member of our family, especially our little guy. I've witnessed firsthand the warmth and compassion they show for all families navigating what can be an extremely overwhelming and, at times, emotional journey. Melissa, the owner, has helped us find the best school environments for our son, even calling on our behalf to check avails in the programs. When it comes to your child and the resources they may need, we've found a comprehensive program and treatment plan for our son at CSC. They even helped us navigate the world of getting an out of network deficiency, which has allowed us to get reimbursement at in network levels. My daughter has been attending the social skills group, Friendship Club, for the last several months, and it is making such a difference in her development. Now my daughter can express when her or other feelings are hurt by using her 'whole body listening' skills and improving her ability to read facial expressions. That has led to to he more empathetic to her family and friends, even to characters in movies. She can now express what a 'small problem' and ' big problem' is and and self-sooth by reflecting on that. They educated her about the Zones of Regulation and knowing when to ask an adult for help. Since joining the group our daughter is steadily showing improved turn taking with family and friends. And what I think is the best part is that all of this has led her to show her family so much more eye contact than ever before. There has just been a great deal of improved behavior overall. We are so grateful for Friendship Club and all the talented therapists at Child Success Center. read more

We've seen a lot of improvement and he finally graduated after a few months! My son was so sad! He loved going to therapy class. We will miss our time here. read more

Where pre-K teachers saw "a typical boy who just started to speak a little late and just needed an extra year to catch up for Kindergarten", Melissa saw a developmental challenge that with speech and educational therapy for just the critical development window, followed by simple tutoring support and an IEP through public school, has made all the difference in his self-confidence, collegiate choices, and skills as a life learner. My issue with CSC is how the primary focus seems to be extremely money centric. I have family in the medical field and have been a patient as well for serious medical conditions and understand how the medical field works. Unfortunately, simple courtesies typically afforded to patients are nickel and dimed at CSC. When we first had our child evaluated by Melissa I., she convinced us that our child needed extensive therapy, multiple times per week, for an indefinite period of time. Ok fine. We want to do whatever is best for our child, even if CSCs hourly rate is insanely costly. After our initial evaluation with Melissa I., to simply speak with her about the results of the evaluation and plan going forward, she told us it would cost us hundreds of dollars to have that conversation. This seems wrong to a) charge for this service on top of the huge fee we paid to have the evaluation in the first place b) if you are going to charge, to make it such an exorbitant amount. Why is this not included as part of the evaluation process? Once we became established clients, Melissa's "warm and caring" attitude vanished as she seems solely concerned in hooking the next client. She didn't even acknowledge our presence when passing each other in the hallways of CSC numerous times thereafter. The nickel and diming continued throughout our time there. Any time we asked to have our therapist speak with an outside professional to give an update to the status of our child, a 15 min phone call would be charged over $50. This is despite having been clients of CSC for so long we had paid them easily $20,000 for therapeutic services. This seemed incredibly inappropriate to not afford families a short courtesy call to help children reach their full potential when they have been long term loyal clients and stretched to their financial limits. In the end, CSC seems to be all about the bottom line. $$$$ read more

Have to give another shout out to CSC. We still drive up to SM just to come to this extraordinary OT clinic. This special place is so comprehensive with speech, OT, Ed therapy, behavior and feeding help. An awesome story: our OT had been trying to help my daughters oral motor skills because she still drools past the expected stage of development. She was able to pull an experienced Speech therapist into the session. That therapist recommended having her adenoids checked. Turns out... 100% blockage and having surgery to remove them!! We saw at least 4 ENTs and other specialists and it was this SLP who figured it out! And this is because of the comprehensive center that CSC is. With all these specialists in one place... we were able to have different experts look at my daughter easily and it results in potentially life changing results. You are in good, comprehensive care if you come to CSC. Better than most MDs in my humble opinion! All the best to every parent out there looking for help read more

My son Elliott has been receiving intensive early intervention therapy at Child Sucess Center for almost two years. He is receiving OT, Speech & ABA therapy. The ABA is mainly at school, but also includes clinic & home sessions. As I reflected on the last two years, I thought about what is working for Elliott. And it really comes down to relationships and collaboration. The strong relationships we developed with Elliott's therapists cultivated a partnership in his treatment. Melissa once told me parent involvement isn't about spending 30 minutes to an hour each day focusing on his goals at home. It's about finding moments, a few minutes couple of times a day to make play therapeutic; work on thumb positioning with blocks or encouraging him to reach up on his tippy toes to grab something. The more we built our partnerships the more his therapists invested in his growth and development. Collaboration amongst his team of therapists also contributed greatly to his progress. Instead of each therapist working independently in their own specialty, they work collaboratively to help strengthen the crossover. Speech and OT goals are now incorporated in behavior therapy, behavior therapy allows his therapists to be more effective during their sessions. And all goals and skills are presented at school and reinforced with behavior therapy. With a strong relationship and team collaboration, Elliott's therapists have been more willing to advocate for him. If they see something isn't working, they talk about it, brainstorm ideas and figure out how to solve it! As a parent it's a winning combination! read more

I worked with Melissa after concerns for developmental delay in my now 10-month old. Melissa was wonderful, focusing on working through what had my daughter stuck instead of focusing on where she should be at this age (a glass half full approach). All of this was accomplished through playing and teaching me how to incorporate skill building in with how we play. Nothing felt forced or particularly frustrating for my daughter, and the games made playing even more fun for me as well. I learned so much about child development through or session as well. The close collaboration across disciplines allowed me to provide wholistic, individualized care tailored to each child and family. Fantastic place! Best of the best. We started our son at Child Success Center in early 2022 through the end of 2022 (until we moved out of state), and the sheer dedication and investment in my child's outcome let me know we were at home! The facilities are set up beautifully with plenty of enticing play options for the kids, and the whole team working there brings valuable knowledge and approaches to each session. I very much felt like all of the practitioners absolutely wanted nothing but success for our son, and their creative and deeply educated approaches made me feel that my son had an A+ team at his side. My son expressed a lot of love for these team members too, which is always a good sign. Melissa clearly knows what she's doing in the OT realm, and she was always there to discuss some of the deeper elements of what might be at play with our son. That professional knowledge was deeply appreciated every time we spoke - she truly is fantastic at navigating the waters for (and with) the children. CSC gave us a great recommendation to an ENT doctor regarding a possible tongue tie consultation+procedure, and it turns out that ENT is internationally known, very highly regarded, and teaches other ENTs - so I also appreciated that the team they turned us to was high quality, to say the least! I would also like to point out that the team showed incredible patience and easily navigated through every moment with my son, and used any bumpy moment as an opportunity to do what they do best - show us ways to work on it together and continue to put the child at the very center of everyone's best efforts. Our son is greatly benefitting from in person OT with Courteney to work on fine, gross motor skills, maintaining focus to stay on task and social skills. Child Success Center has been a huge blessing to us from the moment we learned of them at the IDALA conference. Our son who just finished 2nd grade is dyslexic, at the end of the school year he was at least 1.5 grade levels behind where he should have been. We have an IEP in place at school, which allows him a generous amount of time with the resources teacher, but he needed true Educational Therapy, which isn't offered through the school district. When first speaking to Melissa, Merilee and Stacey at CSC, I was immediately put at ease. They were so kind, patient with all of my questions and emails, informed me of the Child Success Foundation which is available to assist in paying for therapy sessions, and they promptly invited me to visit for a tour. I was blown away on the tour! The facility is fun, engaging, organized, clean and I just knew my son would love attending sessions there. I met with Stacey and she assured me that what my son needed was Educational Therapy. I immediately trusted her and knew he would be in the best and most capable hands with Stacey. I worked with with Donna from the Foundation to work through the application process for the grant to assist in paying for our therapy sessions. It is a huge gift to received the grant. Our son has been attending Educational therapy for approximately 8 weeks now, either 2 or 4 days a week, as he is part of a summer catch up program called SPARKs program. Stacey has worked diligently with our son. She has recognized that he also has difficulty paying attention and listening to instructions. She engages every challenge he has and works with him on it! I am thrilled to say that he is now reading 4 syllable words and inquiring their meaning! My husband and I are so proud/excited/relieved/amazed/thankful and couldn't have found a better place for our son to learn in a way that makes sense to him. This has boosted his confidence and is preparing him to enter the 3rd grade soon, more ready to learn. He will continue Ed. Therapy to give him the tools that he needs to learn and we just couldn't be more grateful for Child Success Center for being there when we needed them most. read more

We have had a wonderful experience with Child Success Center. Melissa, the Director, was super helpful with setting us up with the right speech and OT therapists for our son (5 years old) and fit him in quickly by moving some things around. Melanie Pensak provided speech therapy and she was lovely and fun to be around. More importantly she really helped my son with his articulation issues and he is at the end of treatment now in just over six months. My son always loves seeing Melanie. Gina Yoo was our OT who has since left and she was amazing. Her replacements seem to be as warm, kind, and well trained as Gina. I wouldn't hesitate to try any of them. We also did the Kindergarten Camp this past July 2016 and it was super helpful in preparing my son for Kindergarten. Shelby and her team of trainees were on top of this bunch of mostly wild boys and really helped them with their writing skills and their self regulation skills. I don't think we would have had as smooth a transition to Kindergarten this past week if it weren't for Shebly, Melanie, Gina, Christine, Melissa, and of course the always warm, helping and caring Marilee at the front office. The therapists, staff, Director, and other parents and children who attend CSC all make this a very supportive and empowering environment for anyone struggling with getting help for their child. We were introduced to CSC by my therapist in 2012 and I've been so thankful that she sent us to Melissa and her wonderful staff. I really can't say enough about this miracle place. This sounds corny but they saved my sanity. The staff are so friendly and every therapist knows each child by name. I often end up chatting with other parents in the waiting area and get great advice from them as well. It becomes a micro-community. We started going to CSC when my 2.5 year old (at the time) son had a speech delay and was having trouble in preschool. Melissa and her therapists did a very thorough evaluation of his strengths and needs and put together a strong game plan. They explained everything to us and helped us feel comfortable with the process. Even after only 6 months of speech therapy my son became quite a talker and now I can hardly get him to stop asking questions! Later it was brought to our attention by Melissa and his Speech Therapist that he might need some Occupational Therapy as they had noticed some issues with his body movements while he played in their therapy gym. His preschool echoed that they thought there were some deeper issues beyond his speech delay. We voiced our concerns to Melissa and she made herself available to meet with us to discuss several options we had and in the end put us in touch with a fabulous Developmental Pediatrician. His preschool nor our own pediatrician had any helpful advice, we were left to figure things out ourselves. Without Melissa's guidance and support I'm not sure where we'd be now. At this point my son has been going to CSC for speech therapy for 2 years and occupational therapy for almost a year and he is so happy now. He's much more social and engaged and does better at school. He loves his "teachers" at CSC and is so excited to go every week. Most of the time he doesn't want to leave. Melissa goes above and beyond what is expected of her. The entire process of swallowing my pride as a parent and getting my son early intervention was difficult but they have supported our family the entire way. She really cares about each child and treats them with love and respect. She takes the time to pair your child with the best therapist for them and makes sure they learn how best to engage your child to create a strong and trusting relationship. And they treat the parents in the same nurturing way. Melissa has been a great resource when we needed help and I am just so thankful to her. I will always be grateful for CSC and would highly recommend them to anyone whose child needs extra support. read more

My son has been going to the Child Success Center since August 2016. We have seen tremendous positive changes in his behavior and his ability to deal with issues. He is now having less frequent issues at school and also less severe issues at school. Shelby is talking to his teacher and helping her deal with school issues. Roxanne and Shelby are both wonderful. They are patient and kind. They are extremely talented and know lots of different strategies. They know how to make it fun for my son so he will want to return to the center. The interventions he is receiving now will benefit him so much as he gets older. It is so worth the investment in your child to work with the Center. Child Success Center has been a blessing for our son. Everyone is friendly, competent and professional. During the last few months our son has made great strides with his speech therapist Melanie. He gets so happy to see her. He was less than two years old when he began at Child Success Center and could speak only a few words. His first new word at CSC was "purple"; not the easiest word for his age. This week he said, "I love you", very special moment for us. Now he regularly says three word phrases, verbally asks for help and he is well on his way to catching up to his age group. My son and I had a great experience here working with Amy. She is the sweetest, caring, patient OT in the world in my experience. She has helped my 6 year old so much and has also taught me so much about how to have a better understanding and compassion for what we have been going through. I always leave with more knowledge and so motivation to use what Amy taught us and use those tools at home. Unfortunately, CSC no longer will accept our insurance so we have to find a different facility but we will truly miss Amy. We have a special place in our hearts and I'll never forget the experience we had and will forever be grateful. Amy is my idol. CSC was recommended by my son's school after kindergarten. It was our first experience with Occupational Therapy. Melissa and Courtney conducted a thorough intake to find out where my son needed help, explained everything in detail and then put together a plan of action. My son loved working with Courtney twice a week at their facility, which is packed with all sorts of fun activities like tire swings, monkey bars and even a zip line. Once school started it became too hard to get to the westside from Hollywood every week with our work schedules, but my son still asks if he can go and see Courtney. Our experience with the wonderful staff at CDC was with our daughter and her speech patterns. Via the direction of Melissa she very efficiently found a mutually convenient time to work with us and paired us with the amazing Tori. Over a very short period of time, Tori helped our daughter and resolved speech issues in a fun and welcoming environment (and always with a smile). After each weekly session we were given work to take home and practice which enabled us to continue to work within Tori's framework in between the face to face meetings. This further accelerated her development. Our daughter very much enjoyed her time with Tori and looked forward to spending the 50mins with her each week.
