Our girls have been patients at Pediatrics of Florence since they were born. We interviewed several pediatricians and they were by far the best choice for our family. They have taken really good care of our children and have been superb all along the way. Today, Dr. Tagher went way above and beyond the call of duty to help us out when our local pharmacy and the local urgent care messed up. Dr. Tagher made sure our daughter had the care she needed and he fixed the errors and mistakes of two other medical institutions. We would have ended up at Children's Hospital without his help. I love the doctors at this practice! I've taken my kids there since their very first checkups in the hospital. Each practitioner takes their time with my children and makes sure I understand and have all my questions answered. The early morning walk in time is a lifesaver! As a similar reviewer, the lactation consultant also rubbed me the wrong way. She implied my child would not be as smart or have good head/eye control if I did not breastfeed my son. I was struggling to produce milk and my child was losing weight rapidly. My first child wasn't breastfed and is about as intelligent as a child can get. I also don't appreciate two experiences I had with Dr Rob. After I had been pouring all my efforts into breastfeeding my son I was tearful when he did not gain weight and Dr Rob just asked me if I was "having depression or post partum issues" of the sorts. Very insensitive. Then my son was afraid of being at the Dr. at less than 2 years old and implied my child was autistic because that "wasn't normal" for that age. I happen to work at a Childrens hospital and know it to be VERY normal for a child to be afraid of vital and the Doctor. I don't ever wish to see that man again. BUT-- I love this office. I love Dr Macke, she totally gets my child and she's AWESOME. She remembers my son and she's very friendly. She is what keeps us coming back. We NEVER have any issues getting appointments and we are always taken back from the waiting room very quickly here. Other than the above mentioned issues-- I'm very fond of this office and appreciate how quickly they can see my child. read more

Positive aspects include some of the doctors (Dr. Shawn and Dr. Rob) and the nurse practitioner who is both personable and knowledgeable. I appreciated Dr. Shawn and Jessica's down-to-earth approach. Also, there were no problems getting an appointment when needed. In terms of negatives, I had an experience in which a nurse lied to me. I had called and asked her to ask a doctor a question for me. She did not return my call (so I had to call her the next day) and she told me she asked a doctor my question, but instead she simply read from the chart over and over and when I wasn't satisfied with that, she told me I could have an appointment. I didn't want an appointment because I had already brought him in for the same thing and was merely asking a follow-up question. She refused to help me until I CONVINCED her to just ask a doctor my question, 5 minutes into the conversation. Mind you, I had asked her to do this the day before! Finally she agreed. In my opinion, a nurse should not argue with a patient but should accommodate their request if reasonable. And it IS reasonable to ask a follow-up question of a doctor after an appointment. I don't know if it is the policy here to keep patients from talking with doctors or if the problem was just with this nurse. Another negative involved the lactation consultant. Aside from my impression that she wanted to schedule unnecessary (and very expensive) appointments, she lectured me about how parenting involved sacrifices (implying I was not being a good parent) as I sat in her office in tears describing how I could not keep up with the intense 12-hour-a-day breastfeeding regimen she prescribed for me! I would not choose this office again for my children. read more
