Love walking here along the river. Really pretty with the trees and the river. It's great in the day and so pretty after dinner. Trail follows a wooded path that leads to a walk along the river (that is also still wooded). My only dislike is that some sections have a steep cliff drop to the river. BUT there is usually also a single lane trail a bit farther inland you could use if heights bother you (which is the case with me). I walk on the inside and my husband likes the outside closer to the edge. Very pretty to see the river and watch it flow while walking alongside it. Also love looking for birds here. Nice gentle walk with exposed roots. read more

Peebles Island State Park is a decent hiking destination. Tip: The difficulty level of the hiking here is easy to moderate While this isn't a good place to head for if you're craving a heavy workout, it's good for some casual outdoor activity. There's signage here to provide info on the area, and there are also some nice views. All in all a pleasant place to visit :-) read more

First time here. It was beautiful. The trails are easy to navigate and clearly marked. There was a full parking lot but the trails were not crowded. People were polite and didn't crowd the paths. I can't wait for snow and do a snowshoe hike. read more

LOVE Peebles and how close it is to home. Makes for a quick and easy weeknight hike/walk with my fur babies. I even decided to take some maternity photos there when I was pregnant with my actual babies because the scenery is so pretty. It can definitely get busy on the weekends so plan accordingly. I tend to enjoy going later in the evenings since one of my dogs is not too fond of other dogs, so I would prefer to play it safe. The trails are appropriate for all ages, although there are some steep cliff areas to be mindful of for the little ones. The views are especially nice at sunset, and you will more than likely see several deer as you make your way through the wooded trails. The bathroom/pavillion areas seem nice and well kept, though I've never had to utilize them during a visit. There is ample parking as well. I can't wait until the weather gets nice again so I can get back there! read more

A wonderful park with trails for walking, hiking and jogging, with views of the Hudson and Mohawk rivers. Plenty of lawn space to just rest and relax as well. Note: Bikes are not allowed on the trails. read more

Nice place to go for a walk or light hike. Not much to see or do but good for appreciating nature and a breath of fresh air. The highlight of our visit was spotting a couple of deers during our walk through the woods. read more

Went hiking here earlier today. When we arrrived, there were a couple of young women leaving. We had the place to ourselves and our black lab. Beautiful, spacious park with multiple trails, and LOTS of whitetail deer! Loved it! Will come back again! read more

I gotta be honest, living near this park is one on the reasons to keep me in upstate NY. It's a beautiful place to walk around in. The views of the river are amazing. The pathways are so nicely dug out and I've never been able to come so close to deer in my life. It's a magical experience to be able to stare at a deer about 20 feet away without them feeling like you're gonna shoot them. There's just enough land to explore and get lost in. This is a great place to come and think about things, meditate or enjoy with a friend. Also, Geocache anyone? Make mine Peebles Island! read more

Truly one of the most special gems of the Capital Region, and also a popular one. Peebles Island is perfect for hikers, walkers, and dogs of all ages. Do a loop - or two - and see the endless views off the cliffs. This is a year-round go-to for me and my dog. read more

Peebles Island has very easy walking trails. There are a few buried roots to watch out for, but the paths are well worn and flat. It would be a perfect place to take young children to give them the feel of hiking without fear that they'll tumble off the edge of a cliff or complain about being tired (there are some cliff edges near the water though, so some caution is needed). During our one hour walk, we saw a beaver, (!) seven deer, and a variety of chipmunks and birds. I was so excited to see all of the woodland creatures, so I imagine children would be over the moon! There are bathroom facilities near the pavilion. Apparently also in the visitor center, but it was closed when I went (Saturday morning in May). The bathrooms were not the greatest in terms of cleanliness and function (weak air hand dryer, no baby changing table, very weak flush), but they were there at least! Parking costs $6 per vehicle, but apparently you can park before the entrance (before the bridge) and walk in. However, there are no parking signs along the side of the road, despite cars parking there. Feel free to take your chances, but I don't mind paying a few bucks to support our state parks. read more

Love this place. I recently started running and the running path along side the road is great. Beautiful views if you decide to go for a hike as well. Amazing, so lucky to have such a wonderful place to visit nature so close to home. The deck near the pavilion is great for lunch by the water. The picnic tables could use replacing, but such a pleasant experience. read more

This is a lovely hidden gem in the capital district. Awesome trails for bikes and hikes and great pavilions with plenty of picnic tables and hibachi style grills make Peebles State Park a perfect spot for a family reunions, class picnics and office get togethers. I would highly recommend this for couples and crowds! read more

This park is great. I have gone there hundreds of times. You can rent a nice spot next to the water for an event. Also the hiking trails are very easy. You can see deer all the time. Also great for bike riding. Just a short walk over to Waterford NY. read more

An OK place if there is nowhere else to go for a walk/hike. Not strenuous at all but good for a run during the colder seasons. On a plus side, the water views are beautiful, especially during sunset. read more
