Was in Bend this weekend and stopped by to check out the comics and games. Based on the reviews was prepared for some potentially rude service - but it was great! The store isnt huge but it's PACKED with books, games and comics. Their comic selection was great - only complaint was that they just carry new stuff, which is fair given their size. They did carry a good amount of games as well - a lot of them are stacked by the door so you will need help pulling them down - but the staff is friendly so no problem. The guy working there (I'm presuming the owner) was quite friendly and asked my son a bunch of questions about what he's reading and gave him a bunch of suggestions, and when my son showed no interest in talking with him, he gave him some space :) Will come next time I'm in Bend read more

I love coming here to support small businesses and new writers A lot of the comic books are really niche but they also have a lot of main stream stuff I personally really enjoy the shop but it's definitely not for everyone I would overall recommend stopping by especially if you have kids a lot of good children's books but they also have amazing books for young adults and teens the owner actually has written his own book I haven't read it my sister owns it read more

Tons and tons of books and collectibles! I always get overwhelmed by how many books there are and it's hard to choose what I want. Nice store but owner is a narcissist. I was asking about a book, but we couldn't find it. No problem, he tried. Then he tried to sell me on another. Again, no problem, It's a business. But at the end of it, he got offended when I just thanked him for the recommendation. Defended his behavior by stating 'if you ask for advice you should take it.' Except Sir, I didn't? Just such a contrast to the smiling old man he was moments ago. Very two-faced, and not in the cool comicbook villian sense! He had talked for about five mins to a woman, about how long he has owned the store (almost 40 years) and how well his book that he wrote was doing. Tooting his horn. So he doesn't care about service anymore, or repeat business. For me, this changed the whole vibe. Can't come here anymore. read more

Pegasus Books is one of my favorite places in downtown Bend. I often take people here when they're visiting from out of town. This bookstore has been here a long time and it is very fleshed-out with not just books but all kinds of other little things too like card games and memorabilia. Fun place to just walk in and check out what's new. Also Sabrina at the front was really nice :) read more

Just went there to pick up some FunkO pops for the children's unit at the hospital in bend. Owner was very pleasant, selection was big (gamestop can burn. They burned me out of 15 funko pops and sent me ONE...) Anyway, the owner was nice enough to add another funkO to the purchase, free of charge. Needless to say, I quite like this place, and if I need comics again I know where I'm going! read more

The owner doesn't sugarcoat you when you walk in the door. Instead, he asks if you need something. You say no. He leaves you alone, but still makes eye contact. He sold me a great gift for my nephew, and I noticed that he kept straightening the books on the shelves. Looked like he had recently remodeled or moved things around and was taking a lot of pride in the appearance of the store. Pegasus is kept simple, yet chock full of comics, books, games, collectible toys. And it's locally owned, so you can't go wrong with leaving your money on his table and walking out with a quality product. Thumbs up. read more

Cool little bookshop in downtown with a ton of comics, trading cards, new and used books and collectibles (visions of 40-year Old Virgin). I imagine most boys would completely geek out at the variety of anime, posters, etc. It was hard to drag my son out of here. read more

Being a geek, prior to my trip to Bend, I wanted to scope out any comic book stores in the area as you never know what they'll have. Fortunately for Bend, being that their downtown is only a few blocks, it meant a comic book store within walking distance to my hotel. I knew it was a great store when you see great board games and comic books in the window. There were a group of regulars spouting off nonsense but quickly left as they were occupying most of the walkway in the store. As I glanced around I saw their impressive collection of books, comics, action figures and even old collectible cards. Wow, a faded box of Hyborean Gates - the early CCG based on art from Boris Vallejo - NEAT! While the owner was not present, the clerk was incredibly helpful and social - he found me a hardbound copy of The Amazing Screw On Head and we lamented Sci-Fi not picking up the series when it had such a terrific cast.. He tried to sell me on some affordable magic booster boxes, but I was limited on space, so went with two TPBs. Also respectable: the clerk pointed out to another nearby gaming store that focused mostly on Magic. I never found it, but you have to respect a store that is willing to help out a perspective customer for their needs. read more

A great little comic book+ store in downtown Bend. It is packed to the brim with comics, used books, and nerd paraphernalia ranging from pins to collectible figurines. The book selection is small but curated, so you can check out a very manageable number of shelves for poetry, Greek mythology, horror, art, etc. The owner is himself a writer and quite nice to chat with. read more

Like a few other people mentioned I sadly don't feel welcome when I have been in this store. Some of the younger staff is nice but I do not enjoy going into stores and getting the immediate "why are you here?" Vibe :( If you haven't been in they do have a fun selection of games, comics, manga, and collectables for Bend. Something that intrigues me as a diehard manga nerd is that I feel like some of their manga has to be used- some of it looks used and they carry some series that have been out of print for years and they generally have a decent selection of TokyoPop titles- TokyoPop went down in 2011 in America... So I don't believe that these books have been sitting there all these years- I also feel like the titles come in and out of stock. That is all fine but they charge regular retail prices and say that they are all new?? If I understand right the owners wife owns another used bookstore so maybe they are trading?? Honestly I would rather go to Barnes and Noble where the comics and manga selection is larger, plus they run promos on those items frequently. read more

Comic book stores usually put out new comics on Comic Book Wednesdays. Wednesday is usually the day when a lot of new comics come out. No new comics were put out on this particular Wednesday. When I called to ask about this the owner said that he could not put out new comics as his employee, the very friendly and amazing Sebrina, had not put them all out yet. When asked why he couldn't locate any issues or put out new comics on comic book Wednesday he blamed it on his employee, reminded me that there's another comic book store in another town, said he doesn't need this and hung up on me. I have never been treated this way by any store in Bend OR, let alone by the owner. He would be wise to give this comic book store to Sebrina in it's entirety so that Bend can have a proper comic book store ran by someone who cares about comics and their customers. We spent A LOT of money at this place as it's the only comic book store in town only to be hung up on. If you go to Pegasus Books, enjoy Sebrina's excellent customer service and if the owner is there than leave. He will not help you, is not knowledgeable and does not appreciate your business read more

Great "book" store. Much more than a book store ... Owner (Duncan) has been in downtown Bend Oregon for 25+ years. Big books and little books, children's and adult, fiction and non-fiction, hardback and paperback and trade paperback and graphic novels. Books with more words than pictures and books with more pictures than words. They are all part of the book world to me, and I love being surrounded by them every day." I found the store to be a bit hard to walk around and see all but I also understand that he needs to get as much product in the store so that he can reach out to his book/game/graphic novel fans as he can. Good to great selection of some board games and many used books at about 1/2 cover price. Last week found a couple books of interest and purchased one. Next time I find my self with a Thump Coffee in my hand strolling downtown Bend I'll swing in and pick up the other ... or two. Duncan is knowledgeable in all his lines of products. Really neat bookstore with a variety of books, graphic novels, comics that I rarely see in bookstores or comic shops. I stopped in close to closing and bought one book only to come back the next day and buy another book and a graphic novel. I think their selection of comics is really well cultivated as they have some labels and titles that aren't always on display elsewhere. I don't know if they have back issues but they did say they can order things special and it's not strictly a comic book store in any case which is what was so lovely about it. I personally received very friendly (and patient, since I came in 15 min before closing!) service and will absolutely stop in next time I'm in town (to the detriment of my pocket book). read more

I was really wary after having read the reviews on this place, but we figured it was worth a stop. First of all, if you take out the whole complaint about the owner, this is a fantastic store. Like, one of the best in Oregon imo. I'm a sci-fi/fantasy geek, my husband is a comic/collector geek. There was something for both of us here (unlike a lot of comic shops I've been to in the state, that are usually only for comics). He had a good selection of used sci-fi and fantasy books. It wasn't huge, but what he had was good and they were half cover price, as opposed to individually priced like a lot of used book stores. I felt like what series he had were pretty complete, or at the very least he had the first book in the series, which is awesome. The new books didn't have any kind of discount, they were full cover price, but I felt like he had at least one copy of every new best seller (as far as sci-fi fantasy goes) so if you're looking for a new book, he probably has it. As far as comics/collectibles: there were a lot of figurines in the store. Comic, t.v. show, book series and just random collector stuff. My husband bought a count chocula bobble head. It didn't have a price tag and when we asked the price we were both thinking, "Oh man, this is going to be through the roof" BUT! it was only 5 dollars! (And he still had the box!) The rest of the figurines were pretty average prices. 16-20 dollar range. There were also a million different kinds of collectible card sets. They ranged from magic, to t.v. shows to old and new baseball cards. When we went to pay he told me we could just have the Nolan Ryan pack, so I ended up getting another one and he charged me 1 dollar (they were marked 1.50 a piece). The owner was really helpful the whole time. He walked my husband through the whole store, showing him the layout and where things were located. I appreciated his nerdy bantering with what I assumed was a local regular. Someone was looking at something on a top shelf and he ran out really quick and brought them a step-stool so they could reach it. Overall, I feel like our experience was really good. I could kind of see what some reviewers were talking about as far as him talking about prices and money. He was very adamant about why he didn't discount new books, and told my husband that if he could get away with not giving 10% on comic boxes he would. But I feel like these kind of eccentricities are what you expect in privately-owned comic shops, and you kind of have to see it as part of the charm. read more

I never do these reviews, but my experience at Pegasus Books was bad enough to warrant setting up an account at yelp and spending this time just so other people can know what my experience really was. Their actual inventory is fine, but the service while I was there was appalling. The man working there was very rude to my friends and I, and we felt so unwelcome that we decided not to buy anythying and simply left. I couldn't believe how Pegasus treats its customers; it was as if he didn't WANT us to buy anything. He certainly got what he wanted. read more

A terrific bookstore and game shop for general interest readers, kids and especially, sci-fi, graphic and fantasy fans. The owner of the shop was very enthusiastic and steered us towards some great options both for us and the kids...and since we are all genre readers, we loved finding someone who shared our enthusiasms. But I was just as impressed by the selection of new literary fiction, and the massive selection of used paperbacks. If you're in Bend but out of reading material, this is a great stop -- and if you're a genre reader, a MUST stop. read more

A truly amazing store. It is great that a Bend main stay like this has been in business for so many years. I used to go to it when I was young when it was near the train station and when it moved. I finally got to see Duncan and the store a few years ago and brought back a ton of great memories. The store looks great as ever. read more
