Super friendly service from Taylor who convinced me to try the tayberry (blackberry and cherry) hand pie, she said it was named after her. The pie was super flavorful, not too tart or too sweet, the pastry wasn't too thick either, just the perfect amount. Also got the toffee almond cookie with flaky sea salt, superb, chewy, crispy. However, I ate the rest later and found it to be too salty. Also got the cold brew and one of the lotus energy drinks, overall great offerings and super service.

Cute space with coffee shop vibes but with lots of pie! They have mini pies and hand pies in all flavors, cookies, and coffee. Nice place to sit with a coffee and snack or to carry out your favorite flavors. We tried blueberry peach and cherry hand pies which were as big as a slice of pie. The service was friendly and helpful.

Great costumer service and even better pies. Stop on by if you are passing through right off the highway, easy off and easy on.

i'm not going to let an opportunity to try a new dessert/pastry shop pass me by. so i pulled over in the pouring rain and decided on a cherry hand pie to go so that it could become tonight's dessert. the shop is cute, with plenty of places to sit and lots of options, both savory and sweet. there's a self service water decanter and drinks and pastries to choose from ordering at the counter. i'm curious what the patronage is like in terms of locals vs visitors. for people passing through mt. vernon this will be another option in the downtown sector where they can take a load off and grab something to raise their waning blood sugar. thinking ahead a few months, they should be able to do a rocking business once the tulip festival rolls around.

Forgot to take pictures of the food before eating it because it was just so GOOD! I ordered a Caprese Panini and a Raspberry Rhubarb Hand Pie. The Caprese Panini was AMAZING. The cheese was smooth and very stretchy and the flavors were all there. The hand pie was so flaky that it stuck to my chapstick. You can tell the pies were made fresh. My friend and I decided to eat there because the ambiance felt as though you were sitting in a cozy cafe. The service was also very swift. Coming back here often with my friend!! Very excellent pie. We got it warmed up and ate it in the cafe with some ice cream -- it was sooo good. So simple but made really well. Wasn't very busy in on a weekday afternoon, we came after visiting the tulips. Soo worth a stop for some delicious pies.

We stopped by after seeing tulips. Located in downtown near the co-op is Pegasus Pie, a cute modern coffee and pie shop. They are currently have construction so there isn't much room to sit inside. We ordered a rhubarb pie and a toffee chocolate chip cookie. One review said it was better than Snohomish Pie Co. The crust and crunchy crumble does make me love this pie more too! I was surprised! But the contrast of soft filling with the flaky crust and crunchy topping was delicious! The cookie was a bit too sweet for me, I'd order a plain chocolate chip one in the future. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Mount Vernon!

I love this place! I am a dasher for DoorDash, usually in Oak Harbor. I have had to be in Mount Vernon in the early mornings and discovered this gem...so cute! I stopped in this morning to sample the foods for myself. We ordered a cheesy potato pocket pie and a veggie quiche with our coffees. The food was as wonderful as the service. We will definitely be back!

    Marionberry Pie, absolute perfection!

We wanted a good Marionberry Pie for Thanksgiving, I knew exactly where to go for that, I had tried a small Pegasus Pie earlier this year, so I went back in to see what I could find. I ordered a 9" pie and picked it up the next day. The price of the pie was a little shocking at first, but after considering the downtown Mount Vernon location, the quality of the pie, and that they most likely pay their employees a living wage, I gladly paid it. After telling my son how much the pie was he stated "it better be life changing". Well I am here to say that the Marionberry pie was a life changing experience, one of the best pies I've had since my grandmother passed away 20 years ago, and she made really good berry pies. The crust is soooo good, just perfect, and the consistency of the pie filling was spot on, and held up for days after without drying out. I was also impressed with the bakery back behind the scenes, I would have asked for a tour if the weren't so busy. Thank you Pegasus Pie, it's nice to see a successful business in downtown Mount Vernon.

Excellent hand pies and on the weekends amazing biscuits and gravy. Favorite combo is jalapeño cheddar biscuit with mushroom gravy -- so good! Sometimes there isn't much in the pastry case and service at times can be a bit of a wait for hot items, but I hope as this place continues to grow in popularity those things will be resolved. Very cute and cozy stop for a Saturday morning breakfast.

This was a slice of quiche after tip it was $8.70

I'm not sure if this is the normal size, but I was very disappointed and it wasn't even heated up

The inside of the pie was less than half filling.

There are things here that Whole Foods and Met Market only dream of, and freshness they cannot match. Yes it is a bit more than Safemeyers, but the quality is superior. The bread selection alone makes it worth the visit, and that is not to mention excellent brewed coffee, a high quality and ever changing cafeteria, and technical books covering everything from air frier food prep to building a home. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about what they sell, and if you ask a question they can not answer, they will find one.

Came in on a Tuesday around 11:30 AM for lunch. We were really hoping that we beat the crowds…read morebecause we usually don't go here anymore only because we don't like to wait and wait to be seated and then wait some more. What can I say? We were really hungry and really wanted their food and they have a nice variety on their menu. So we waited. It didn't even seem like there were that many people waiting or on the waiting list. Nonetheless, we waited probably 20 minutes in the entry. They called our name and seated us. They have a lot of tables set up throughout their space. I see there is seating upstairs but not sure when/if they seat up there. Their restrooms are now gender neutral and one toilet. That's nice! There was a changing table in the one I visited. The server came around within about five minutes and when we ordered our food, It took about another 20 to 25 minutes. I had time to shop the whole adjacent store, make a purchase and still waited awhile for our food. This is always a period of time that feels like it takes forever because by now you're starving and have looked at all of their sweets in the display case while in the waiting area and smelled all the cinnamon scented candles and the food being prepared in the kitchen. My Linda's brother-in-law scramble was delicious. I opted for the bacon sprinkled. It didn't seem like 4 dollars worth of bacon and there's plenty of flavor in that scramble otherwise. $23.54 with the bacon sprinkles. My hubby had the country biscuits and gravy, and he said it was good. $17.79. My husband did mention that he was disappointed that the country biscuit and gravy didn't automatically come with their breakfast potatoes. You have to choose- eggs OR potatoes. He ordered a side of breakfast potatoes, and it was a small bowl. $6.50. We shared the French toast and took most of that to go as well as some of the hash. $14.99. It was plain. We both had water to drink and had to ask for a refill. That all came up to $68.47 plus tip. The receipt says, "If you pay cash, your total may be rounded per this location's payment policy." I didn't see what that policy says.

Calico Cupboard is one of those places that you NEED to go to when you're in town…read more When you get there, you just sign in yourself at the stand which is a good system so no one has to check you in when they're already pretty busy. While you're waiting you can go to the shop down the stairs or go to the dessert area right next to the waiting area to get some great desserts. Last time i was there I saw frosted cream cheese sugar cookies, and pies, and more. When you get seated there are so many great food options, lots of options, same with drinks. They are only open until 3:30 pm so be sure to manage time well. And don't expect an empty place, it's usually populated. Tight space, so scoot in those chairs as far as you can.
