Bring water. The good: The hostess (in old-fashioned costume) was very informative in both tours, and very bubbly. The Charlottetown tours was very fun to hear as she would tell us stories about the town (great fires, events that led to the Confederation meetings, hidden tunnels, etc.) Often stops in historical tours to explains some events. Some of the stops have seats. The bad: This is a fast pace walk, so if you are not really in shape, you might have difficulty following. The voice of the hostess can be buried by surrounding sounds (lawnmowers, other tour buses, etc.). The fairy tour is more a walk through a park/forest with stories (nothing to truly see but still nice). We were promised a bathroom break mid-tour but that did not happen. This was one of our favourite activity in PEI. I strongly suggest the historical tour.

I did a couple of day trips out of Charlottetown, renting a bike from MacQueen's each time. The…read morebike was fine and the service was excellent (my water bottle was too big to fit in a standard cage, so they lent me a satchel for it at no extra charge). They had no problem with me returning the bike after hours, either--I just locked the bike up to the rack outside the shop with the lock they had provided. My only quibble is with the routes supplied on their website--on my first trip, I headed out to Tea Hill and China Point using the terse directions on their site and soon had to switch to navigating with my phone. (On the second trip I took, to the North Shore, I used a day trip route provided by the city's tourism department, and that was much easier to follow.) I would definitely rent from here again, though.

When we asked for something besides the regular pedals the bikes came with the friendly staff offered to install SPD clip on pedals and loaned us the appropriate shoes at no extra cost. Also loaned us helmets and bag for the rear rack at no extra cost. And as noted by Tara Z. we also returned the bikes after hours and locked them in front of the shop without any problem. The service was amazing. We would return to MacQueen's without hesitation.

He demonstrated a depth and breadth of knowlege of matters important, trivial, tragic and funny and kept our attention through the two day travels. He went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and enrichment. We saw picturesque areas, I was not wild about Anne of Green Gables, but was surprised at how fascinating the museum and house visit were. He recommended excellent places to eat and we had only pleasant surprises and no disappointments, except that the day we flew home gave warmth and glorious sunshine to everyone on the island, obviously a circumstance beyond his control. Would I return? Absloutely! Would I recomend his tours? ...in a heartbeat.

We had a perfect time on our Prince Edward Tour. The driver was wonderful...I so wish I could…read moreremember his name. He is a native and knew everything there was to know about PEI. He tried to foil me with his Anne of Green Gables trivia but I prevailed! He took us to the "Lake of Shining Waters" and to "Green Gables" and on a trip around the island and to see the new bridge. We also got to stand on the quintessential red cliffs of the island. If you are in the area you have to use them for your tour. If I am ever back on PEI (which I sure home happens) I will be sure to take a tour from them!

The Colonial Charm Inn was a great place to stay while in Charlottetown. Upon entry, the age of the…read morebuilding is really noticeable, but it adds to the small town vibe and experience. Check-in service was superb and we were greeted with a mini tour of the inn and given a map with popular spots around the city. There was also a fresh batch blueberry muffins waiting for us that were to die for! The room we got was good and a bit dated, but given that we were only there to sleep it did it's job! Breakfast the next morning was a lovely plated meal with a yogurt parfait, quiche, and fresh fruit. We didn't know what quite to expect when booking here, but wished we added another day to our stay. Maybe next time!

We planned a major 20-day European vacation for our 25th wedding anniversary, but due to some…read morepersonal reasons we had to cancel and find something more local. My wife quickly reviewed some bed and breakfasts in Prince Edward Island and managed to find the very accommodating Colonial Charm Inn. We were to leave Sunday morning, but were still undecided Friday night. Colonial Charm Inn agreed to hold our room until noon the next day when we would know better whether we could go. Luckily, we were able, and that was the beginning of a very memorable and pleasant 3-day stay at Colonial Charm Inn. At the moment of arriving, we were greeted by Jeff, who immediately made us feel at home. He was very friendly and helpful with any requests or advice that we needed during our stay. The Inn is an older home adorned with antiques, prints, and even a suit of armour or two! The decorating may not appeal to everyone, but we like the historic atmosphere. There was parking in the front or rear of the building. And because, we had expensive bicycles on the rack of our car, they allowed us to store them inside, so we need not strap and lock them on the car every night. Very convenient and safe. We were booked in The Charles Henry Foster Room. An en suite and balcony! The room was perfect. The antique 4-poster bed may not be the perfect comfort for some, but we were fine with it. Let's face it, it's not a high-end hotel. It's the high-end hospitality and charm that was worth every penny. The following morning we met Shelly, Melanie, Hannah, Reg ... and the friendliness and special attention continued. Everyone was very cordial and relaxed. They prepared a wonderful breakfast every morning during our stay. All very fresh and homemade. During our cycling excursions, sight-seeing, and dining out experiences, Reg and Shelly were equipped us with all the maps, brochures, as well as, great advice and recommendations. They could not have made it any easier for us, especially our 25th anniversary dinner arranged and booked for us at The Delta. That was one of (maybe the top two!) culinary experiences we had in our well-travelled lives. (Maybe another review for them) Thank you everyone at Colonial Charm Inn! We can not thank you enough.

We've ridden the ferry in three different years now and continue to be pleased with the…read moreexperiences. It's a delightful way to travel off the island. The cost now from PEI to Nova Scotia is $79 for the car and our three passengers. We enjoyed a cooked breakfast on board, plenty of hot coffee and some terrific sightseeing on the deck. We booked online and had no issues; reservations are a good idea as those without will be boarded last, space permitting.

We had a great experience on the Holiday Island ferry going from Caribou, NS to Wood Islands, PEI…read moreand back. We had booked our itinerary online before we left and so when we arrived, the operators quickly located our reservation and ushered us into the appropriate queue. Boarding was orderly and organized and the ship left promptly. The rest of the 75 minute trip was very pleasant. The weather was beautiful and the deck allowed for a lovely panoramic view of the Northumberland Strait. We saw small fishing boats pass by, with friendly fishermen waving lobsters at us. The concession stand sold tea and coffee, ice cream and snacks while the cafeteria served hot sandwiches and breakfast. They even had poutine, which was still deliciously unhealthy even if it featured pale (rather than the typical dark) gravy used in Québec. The 'green' side of me loved that disposal of waste was separated into compostable, recyclable, and then finally trash bins. Overall a great experience; although it was pricier (~$70) than driving to PEI on the Confederation Bridge (~$40), it saved us time rather than having to reroute our itinerary and was a more enjoyable experience sailing across the Strait.

HINT: If you pay in USA, they do not give change back to you in USA, your change will be in CAN. So for those of you who do not know, right now 1 Canadian dollar is equal to 1.25 American. (The American dollar is worth more then the Canadian dollar.) Hence why you will lose .25 on every American dollar spent. Just a tid-bit.
