    Cute kitchenette

Clearwater Beach is dotted with big and small hotels! We were coming for a long weekend so we weren't interested in getting anything too upscale since we were going to be cruising the sights most of the time! We found the perfect spot with Pelican Pointe! It was smack in the middle of the beachwalk and the rate was great (less than $150 a night, we stayed 3 nights). We were there in October, so prices may vary depending on the season, but it was still gorgeous weather and people were sunbathing and swimming in their pool! There's one parking spot per guest, check in was a breeze and the clerk was informative. She gave us our WiFi password, maps, and brochures of the area which included coupons! The hotel was situated next door to a super fun restaurant, Salty's, which had really good food and on the other side, a nifty ice cream shop with tasty treats! Score! The hotel itself was painted in bright, fiesta type colors which added to its beachy charm. I liked that it wasn't a high rise, just 4 floors with water front balconies overlooking the pool and the gulf. Check out the stairwell with some cool beach scenes painted on the walls! Inside, the room was appointed with typical beach décor and bright colors, turquoise, yellow, salmon. We got 2 doubles and the room came with a futon as well. Our room had a sizable wardrobe equipped with an ironing board and iron, which we used, extra linen for the futon, and two luggage racks. There were 2 TVs, one was mounted on the wall in front of the futon, the other above the dresser in the bedroom. There was a small kitchenette, stocked with utensils, dishware, mini fridge, coffee pot & a selection of java plus a little dinette table by the window. The bathroom had plenty of towels and more pool towels in a basket under the vanity, and a hair dryer on the wall. It was like a cute studio apartment. All and all, it was a comfortable, clean space for a short stay. Here's what can improve: While the towels were plentiful, they felt like sandpaper. I know we were by a sandy beach, but come on... a layer of my skin came off! The bed linens were dated and faded, they looked like old Target styles, and while I love Target, these were just border line Goodwill donations. For such a cute hotel, get some updated fun and cozy comforters! While the iron was new and worked great, the hair dryer was disappointing. It barely blew hot air and ancient. Needs to be replaced (or bring your own). The soap dispensers, while convenient for the hotel, not so convenient for the guests. The liquid shower wash and shampoos weren't sudsy and didn't dispense well. No bar soap by the sink. We ended going to a convenience store and buying soap and other cleansers. (I did appreciate the make up remover towelettes provided though!) It was dim in there, more lighting would be great! Despite the things that could be better, this was a relaxing, average hotel experience. If I ever came back to Clearwater, I'd consider staying here again especially for the good prices. Compared to other hotels in the area, it's probably a 3 star. But for hotels of this caliber, I'm giving it a 4, hoping that with a couple of upgrades, it will be on "pointe"!

This place is clean, affordable, equipped and close to EVERYTHING. 5 min drive from aquarium or jump on jolly trolly. Across street from beach. 5 min walk to Pier60. It's not Uber fancy but who stays in their room a lot on vacation at the beach? Saltwater pool was awesome. Staff was awesome too! I damaged my rental car my first day here and they helped me in every way and let me use office equipment to fax reports to insurance. We got the 2 queen suite and it had a futon as well. Could sleep 6 easily Only con: they need to update their baseboards as they show signs of wear and the tub needed a good scrubbing. This will be our go to Hotel for all vacations

Queen room with food out couch bed.

Pleasantly surprised with my room. Staff are excellent, the room and grounds are very clean. I had a late check in due to flight delays and the staff made it super easy to get in with the use of lock boxes at the front door. Get a room with a pool view! Otherwise you'll be looking at a massive construction site next door. The noise didn't bother me because I was gone from the room all day anyway. My pool facing room also provided a glimpse of the bay. Short walk around another resort across the street to get to the public south Clearwater beach. I'll stay here again if I make it back to Clearwater!

Our room was clean and cozy. We were close to the beach. I loved the separate living room and bedroom area. The ac worked great. I love the new colors of paint in the rooms. I also liked having the area to sit outside. It was walking distance to whatever we needed. Ping pong table was missing the net. The bathroom fan wasn't so good so when taking a shower it would get very humid in the room. However, it is right across from the beach and it was clean! We would stay here again.

View from window. Vacant lot next door.

Came to the area for business, stayed at Pelican Pointe based on price and prior yelp reviews. There were some kids partying in the room next to me, not really a big deal or unexpected for the area but the noise transference between the rooms was horrible. I could hear everything they were doing and saying. I get it, I've been there too having a good time on vacation. I figure I'll just see if the hotel management can help me come up with a solution. I asked to switch rooms and there were none others available. No problem, I'll just check out early and relocate to a different hotel. The front desk woman called the manager who refused to refund my last 2 nights in the hotel because the noisy neighbors were "checking out tomorrow" and I could have the security guard go deal with the problem when he got on shift at 11pm. Very poor customer service, I was unable to use my room for anything really that day, and ended up checking out early anyways without the refund.

Retro Eclectic design, clean, comfortable suite. The renovations are bright & cheery in this older style hotel conveniently located near the beach, restaurants & bars all within walking distance. Standard room is a small suit.

Cute little beach motel directly across from Opal Sands Resort. Right along the strip with a ton of restaurants, bars & most importantly the beach! The beach is exactly 250 steps away from the check in desk of the hotel as they will tell you when you check in! The rooms are all newly renovated, the pool is heated, the rooms have STRONG air conditioning, a microwave, a small kitchen sink, a mini fridge, a comfy futon, a bed(or 2), a flat screen, & a small table to eat meals/play cards/etc. Each room also has a table and chairs outside to relax outside in the warm Florida weather! This motel is in the PERFECT location. My boyfriend and I did not have a car at all for our 4 day stay. Everything we needed/wanted was within a 1.5 walking distance. Any restaurant you could think of, liquor stores, souvenir shops, even a McDonalds! Be sure to check out the back of SurfStyle for a grocery store with everything you could possibly need ( a five min walk across from the beach ) & Pier 60 at night for a art show of vendors who present their handmade art for sale ! Happy Travels !

The hotel itself is beautiful and centrally located on Clearwater Beach with just a short walk across the street to the beach. We booked two suites , a 2 queen private rooftop terrace suite with a full kitchen and a poolside king suite with a kitchenette which were spacious and perfect for our large gathering. The rooftop terrace was definitely a highlight, and the hotel is within walking distance to restaurants, the pier, playgrounds, and shops. I also liked that the pool is on the 8th floor with a great view and access limited to hotel guests only. Pool chairs were very comfortable, towels were unlimited with no towel card system, and beach cabana/umbrella rentals were half off for guests. The hot tub being on the 16th floor separate from the pool didn't make much sense though. Room service was daily, and I appreciated being able to text the front desk instead of calling. I highly recommend using the text feature and keeping everything in writing because there were discrepancies regarding credits we were promised. There were unfortunately several maintenance and service issues during our stay. The living room TV constantly glitched and wouldn't sync properly even after maintenance attempted to fix it. More importantly, the AC completely stopped working in the rooftop terrace suite for hours while we hosted about 25 guests for the graduation party. Everyone was hot and sweaty in almost 100-degree indoor conditions. Thankfully the terrace breeze helped, but being offered only a $100 credit for such a major issue during a once-in-a-lifetime celebration felt insufficient! The parking garage situation was also frustrating. We were told our vehicles could enter and exit freely with the resort fee, but every time we tried leaving, the room keys and garage passes failed. We repeatedly went back to front desk to get new passes and had to pay $40 to exit then contact customer service afterward for refunds such a waste of vacation time Customer service overall was very hit or miss. Some employees were wonderful while others seemed miserable and unfriendly. The onsite coffee shop was particularly disappointing I'd recommend walking across the street from The front lobby to the real Starbucks instead. At times it felt like the hotel relies heavily on its excellent location and beach proximity rather than consistent service standards.Coming from previous stays at Sandpearl Resort, I personally would still choose Sandpearl for smaller family vacations. However, I will say this hotel offers more flexibility for large gatherings and easier garage access compared to Sandpearl's valet-only setup. That said, between the AC outage, power issues in BOTH suites floor 8 and 17, lukewarm water, TV problems, phone problems, garage charges, and inconsistent customer service, I would probably try another Clearwater Beach hotel next time. We still made wonderful graduation memories and the location, spacious suites, rooftop terrace, and beach convenience were definitely the highlights of our stay.

And not one spider or bug on that balcony the whole week we were there! Five stars just for that! All staff were very friendly, in fact I believe it was a manager that bought me and my husband drinks after we walked down 15 flights of stairs during a fire alarm. (I swear nobody else even heeded the alarm, we were the only one in the stairwell). We only ate breakfast in the main restaurant (which was good), but we did have room service a couple of times and enjoyed the rooftop bar, The Tropico, for food and drinks. (The kids menu burgers and fries was plenty for me!) All were good experiences. Hotel is in walking distance of so many restaurants, shops and of course, the pier. We only hung out on the beach one day with the loungers and cabana. I was a little disappointed that they weren't included in the stay. The cost was $30 per day. Otherwise I was content to hang out on the loungers at the pool. A store called Surf Style is just a couple of doors down that has besides clothing, your snacks, drinks and all the tourist goodies.

Unfortunately, our four-night stay was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we've had. The biggest issue was the condition of the room. We have photos documenting what we found. The shower had visible mold when we checked in, and despite daily housekeeping, it was never cleaned during our entire stay. The room itself felt dirty, and the towels had a foul odor, almost as if they had been washed in rancid water. The room was also in poor repair. Most of the electrical outlets were so loose that plugs would not stay in them. We couldn't use a hair dryer, curling iron, or even reliably charge our phones because the plugs would simply fall out. We ended up buying an extension cord so we could run power from the bathroom outlet. There were no functioning towel bars, and the wall hooks that were supposed to hold towels repeatedly fell off the wall. Housekeeping was inconsistent at best. On Tuesday we had to ask for bath towels. On Wednesday we had no washcloths. We asked a housekeeper, then the front desk, and finally called the hotel after waiting. Each time we were told someone would bring them "right up," but they never arrived. We eventually had to use hand towels as washcloths. That same day, housekeeping only made the beds and emptied the trash. The room was not actually cleaned. The room itself was far too small for two queen beds. It felt as though two beds had been squeezed into a room designed for one. The mattresses were lumpy and uncomfortable and felt much smaller than standard queen beds. Had the room been clean, well maintained, and comfortable, I honestly would have overlooked many of the other frustrations. Unfortunately, when the basics of cleanliness and comfort aren't met, everything else becomes much harder to ignore. The beach was the reason we chose this hotel, and while the beach itself is beautiful, the setup was disappointing. Guests are not permitted to bring their own beach chairs and must rent the hotel's. The first two rows closest to the water were occupied by blue cabanas renting for approximately $251 per day. We rented reclining chairs for about $60 per day, yet they were placed in the back row, far from the water, while many of the premium cabanas remained empty. The rows of orange traffic cones surrounding the cabana area also took away from the natural beauty of the beach. The hotel's location is excellent, and direct access to Clearwater Beach is its greatest asset. However, a great location cannot make up for mold, poor housekeeping, maintenance problems, uncomfortable beds, and a room that simply wasn't clean. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe future guests deserve an honest picture of our experience. Based on our stay, I would not return or recommend this property.

PROS; -Walkable to just about everything! We didn't rent a car for our trip so it was perfect to be able to access nearby restaurants, shops, and more all on foot. -The pool deck is very large, well kept, and very well staffed. Tons of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Everyone working there was so dang nice! You can receive pool-side service for food & drink, or head up to the attached bar to grab what you need. Definitely a little on the pricey side, but a lot of good options. -We booked a one-bedroom suite and it was delightful! Sooo spacious, likely more than we needed. It was super clean and modern. Very nice, updated bathrooms and walk-in glass showers. Our patio was also huge, providing beautiful views of the Mandalay Channel. Beds were comfy, and they even so kindly provided us with a cot/crib for our youngest. Hugee for parents - that was super appreciated! -Literally every single person working there that we interacted with was beyond sweet! Five-star service and friendliness from all staff. CONS: -Little to no cleaning service in the room (unless requested??). Maybe I missed how this works, but it was a little of a bummer having overflowing trash cans and dirty dishes we weren't sure what to otherwise do with. They were very quick to bring fresh towels upon request, however! -Given the size of our suite, we would have loved to have a few extra usable items in the kitchen area, like any kind of napkins/paper towels, silverware, and soap do to a little washing up. Surely don't expect it to be fully stocked with appliances and plateware, but it seemed a little odd how big it was with truly nothing to use it for. All in all, we would absolutely stay here again, and would most certainly recommend it to others (especially families). Thanks for a great stay!

Instead, we encountered poor communication, disorganization, and management that seemed incapable of delivering the experience their luxury rates promise. Our room wasn't ready until 8:30 p.m., leaving us waiting more than five hours. Once we finally got in, our luggage wasn't delivered as promised, the room phone didn't work, and maintenance had to make multiple trips to replace it before we could even begin to settle in. By the end of the evening, we still hadn't had a chance to unpack, shower, or relax after a full day of travel. The valet experience was equally disappointing--disorganized, unprofessional, and lacking even the most basic customer service. The mattress was also among the most uncomfortable I've ever slept on. The only employees who reflected the Marriott brand were the bartenders and the maintenance technician. Everyone else, including management, seemed indifferent to the issues we experienced. 3.5/5 Stars - Nice Location, But Service Fell Short…read more I stayed at Opal Sands Resort from Friday through Sunday, and while it was a nice weekend getaway, the experience didn't quite live up to the price or the expectations. Check-In: The check-in experience wasn't the warmest. The front desk associate was polite, but the interaction felt very transactional, more like, "Here's your key, hand me your credit card, have a great day," rather than making us feel welcomed to the resort. Room: Our Gulf View room on the 5th floor overlooking the pool was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was quiet for the most part. Occasionally, you could hear music from the pool area, but it wasn't disruptive. Pool: The pool itself was great. The water temperature was perfect, and we had no trouble finding chairs both times we used it. The music wasn't really our style, so I brought a small speaker and played my own without any issues. Unfortunately, the pool service left a lot to be desired. Getting a server's attention felt like a mission. I ordered a piña colada, which tasted good--especially whatever they put around the rim, but it barely seemed to contain any alcohol. The same happened with a whiskey and club soda; it tasted almost entirely like club soda with just a splash of whiskey. For the prices they charge, I expected much better. Beach: On our second day, we decided to spend time on the beach. The day before, we had asked how the cabanas and umbrellas worked and were told everything was first come, first served. Based on that information, we assumed they were included with the resort stay. We grabbed towels from the pool, found an open cabana, and about 20 minutes later an employee informed us there was a $50 charge to use it. We had no issue paying the fee, but the lack of communication from the front desk and other staff was frustrating. Better communication would have prevented the confusion. Food: I had breakfast at the restaurant on the first floor. The food was decent but nothing memorable or worth going out of your way for. Overall: For the price, I expected a higher level of service and better communication from the staff. The property itself is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, and the location is excellent, but the service and food and beverage experience brought the overall rating down. Overall Rating: 3.5/5 Would I stay here again? Probably not. Next time I'd be more interested in trying the hotel next door, The Sol, which looked beautifully decorated and has two pools instead of one. Hopefully the overall guest experience is better.

Wish I could give it 3.5 stars. We really wanted direct beach access which was the absolute best…read morepart, especially with the free golf cart rides to get down to the beach. There was just too many things that left us disappointed on our first trip here. There are 2 EV charging spots which was a lifesaver this trip and being a trolley stop was absolutely amazing for getting over the bridge into Clearwater Beach stress free. We saw pictures of a tennis and pickleball court online but those have been demolished and replaced by a grassy area :(. Thankfully sand bay tennis park is less than a mile away and the trolley does stop there. 3 volleyball courts which were great and sunsets 10/10! The Easter Egg hunt was a fun and unexpected treat for the kids :) well organized. I checked in early on the app, knowing it was a holiday weekend and there may not be rooms available early. We were able to pick up wristbands right away but we later found out these were not watched or enforced anywhere. In fact, you do not even need a key to enter the building from the pool/beach. I believe this added to the insane crowding at the pool. Could not find a pool chair at ALL - very stressful and had to set our belongings on the ground in order to swim. They could not keep up with the towels either and by 3-4PM, you could not get one at all. The pool bar had short hours and the line was insanely long every day. The pool bar shared the same line as ordering the food truck food which added to that chaos as well. On Friday the food truck shut down early as well. There was one water dispenser in the lobby but it was always empty. I felt like a bother asking the mainstay tavern for water. The food there was very good and we ordered to go. The gym was amazing 10/10. The beds were AWFUL 0/10 they are on a platform with absolute no give at all - ROCK hard!!! Had to walk across the street to the other Marriott location to get espresso coffee. The extra charges are too much - says $30/night to park but after taxes and fees it is $35 a night and $25 a night for the resort fee which doesn't cover anything but bikes as the trolley is already free. It is $45 to rent 2 chairs and an umbrella at the beach. The resort fee should offset this cost!!!!! The location is amazing but these extra charges are just too much and our stay left a lot to be desired. I also had a fraud charge immediately following paying for parking even though I used the QR code at the front desk and have not used that credit card for any other purchases - I wish this was charged directly through the hotel instead. It is not gated.

Great location, nice hotel especially after the renovation. On weekends there is music by the pool…read moretoo. There is still room for improvement with the food served by the pool.

That is why I decided to stay state side on my last vacation of the summer! I'm so glad I did. I chose Clearwater as my final summer destination because it's rated as one of the top US beaches. The honeypot asked what excursions I wanted to do and since it was just a quick 4 day - 3 night trip I decided to just do spa day, jet skis, and beach day. He picked Clearwater Marriott because of the view, spa, and jet skis close by. Phenomenal pick! The room appeared to be a suite. It had a nice living room area with a wet bar. Loved that they gave us cookies and milk during our stay! Super cute! The restroom was nice and the closet was spacious! The balcony and that water view though! It was the highlight of my trip. The honeypot asked if I wanted to stay at JW Marriott or the Marriott Resort and raved about the Marriott over JW so I took his lead. The view was magnificent! I saw dolphins jumping in and out the water every morning. I saw sharks and stingrays all from the balcony. I was literally like a child in awe. The staff were great, they ran this resort like a JW or a Ritz and gave us water for the car, opened doors, and honestly I hadn't expected that level of service but yes, we got it here! The bed was very comfortable. The lounge, the pool, I mean nothing was subpar! Honestly this might have to be a yearly vacay! Thanks Marriott for a wonderful long weekend getaway!

This hotel was a place that you have everything you need. I was upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite and I loved it. The trolley picks up right up front.
