Generally speaking staying at the Sandpearl Resort was a great experience. The place feels new. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. If you get a room with a gulf view it is actually a wonderful view that you can enjoy on the private terrace. I did not use the pool, but it seems large enough for the people staying there. The beach experience is a little different from what I am used to. No, this isn't Miami. The sand is powder fine. The beach is very wide making service to the shore line impossible. Thus, is the huge gap between the Sandpearl chairs and the water a regulation or just practical? I don't know, and it really doesn't matter. Service is good on the beach. HOWEVER, when they say it takes about thirty minutes for them to make the rounds take that into account. The time between when you see someone no matter what the reason is going to be about that long for a full capacity layout. The food on the beach is excellent -- well, at least those grouper nuggets were. Wow! I want to have a fish and chips plate made with those! Anyway... Caretta on the Gulf was also a hit. So, if you just wanted to be lazy and stay 100% here that would actually work. With that said, the location seems to be great to just walk out and venture down the tourist town to explore as well. I wish they did a better job of explaining the logistics. Where are you supposed to get those wristbands before going to the beach? How do you reserve a chair ahead of time? Well, next time I can ask those questions via their text system but when you don't know what you don't know that doesn't work. Plus, the entire place feels just a little bit more pricey than the value received. It is not terrible, but it is certainly on the edge especially taking into account the valet fees.

The hotel was spectacular! The rooms were spacious and clean, our balcony was HUGE with an incredible oceanfront view. The amenities were excellent, free gym access with a view, complimentary beach chairs which is amazing so you don't have to carry all the beach supplies. Switch between pool and beach instantly. The poolside service from Tate Island grill was incredible, fast , delicious and reasonably priced. The hotel wristbands were an absolute favorite no need to carry around a bag with a card, the wristbands gives you access to everything by conveniently tapping it to open doors. The beach was 200 feet away, right by the towel station. Marketplace inside the hotel had tasty snacks and quick breakfast options. Sandpearl is located centrally in the middle of all the action access to dozens of places to eat and shop. Their texting service was a great way to stay in touch with activities like nightly movie night at the pool or s'mores by the beach fire. You can request extra towels, bed etc via text. Checking out was super easy. The valet was pricey for hotel guest but you can always expect that across the board. Definitely would stay here again.

We had a nice stay. Clean and good service. I visited the spa for a massage and it was excellent! Beaches were pretty.

    Unfixed tub

I expected luxury and instead this place was unsafe, unsanitary, and wildly mismanaged. I am outlining every issue clearly and categorically: 1. Cleanliness & Housekeeping * Sheets were never changed the entire week. * The only toiletry provided was shampoo--no conditioner, lotion, body wash, or toothpaste. * The robe provided had visible stains. * Trash cabinet outside our room is broken and slams against my legs every time I open it. Despite repeated complaints, it was never fixed. It has severely bruised up my legs, and despite multiple complaints, it still hasn't been repaired. * Trash regularly piles up outside our room balcony , attracting bugs and the smell from the trash being left open all days smells horrible. There was a noticeable bug problem in and around the room. * Shared microwave offered as the only heating option was unsanitary for a property of this level. 2. Room Condition & Safety Hazards * The shower does not drain properly--I slipped and fell, and have had itchy, irritated feet ever since from standing water. * The hot tub had rocks inside, which caused me to rip off a toenail. * Alarm clock went off at 4 AM in my today here without reason. * Elevator doors close with force, posing a safety risk--especially to children. * Room phone never worked--I was left a handwritten note about it, but never received a solution. Without a working phone, I had no access to room service or emergency communication. * Sink in the bathroom is so tall my kids couldn't use it. * Fridge had no freezer compartment. * The outdoor movie system never worked, and there were no servers or food service available as advertised. No kid activities offered. 3. Resort Layout Flaws & Family Safety * Balconies are not private--they connect side-to-side, creating a safety concern for children and zero personal space. * There is no safe way to exit the property with a stroller--the only sidewalk ramp leads directly into the street without a proper buffer, which is terrifying with small kids. * Despite advertising beach access, this is not a private beach, just beachfront exposure. 4. Staff Conduct & Professionalism * I raised serious concerns and was offered a 9:07 PM in-room meeting with a male manager--instead of a daytime or professional office discussion. As a woman traveling with children, this felt inappropriate, unsafe, and coercive. That alone would have justified a refund. * I asked multiple times for a formal way to speak with general management--I am still waiting. * I was told "service unavailable" after sending a detailed written complaint. The lack of response was unacceptable. * A staff member even ran over my foot with a trash cart, and there was no incident report or follow-up. 5. Security & Grounds * The resort gate is often left open, allowing unauthorized individuals and even squatters to access the grounds. * Wristbands are not enforced, so people can walk freely around the resort without being guests. * Police were seen on site during our stay--no communication was provided as to why. * There is an exposed electrical panel located next to active sprinklers, which poses a serious fire or shock hazard, especially to children. Conclusion This property is not luxury--it is poorly maintained, dangerously designed, and operated with a disturbing lack of accountability. Management failed to offer meaningful solutions or even basic respect for guest safety. Travelers, especially families, deserve to know the truth about Sandpearl. This is not a resort--it's a liability.

The hotel itself is beautiful and centrally located on Clearwater Beach with just a short walk across the street to the beach. We booked two suites , a 2 queen private rooftop terrace suite with a full kitchen and a poolside king suite with a kitchenette which were spacious and perfect for our large gathering. The rooftop terrace was definitely a highlight, and the hotel is within walking distance to restaurants, the pier, playgrounds, and shops. I also liked that the pool is on the 8th floor with a great view and access limited to hotel guests only. Pool chairs were very comfortable, towels were unlimited with no towel card system, and beach cabana/umbrella rentals were half off for guests. The hot tub being on the 16th floor separate from the pool didn't make much sense though. Room service was daily, and I appreciated being able to text the front desk instead of calling. I highly recommend using the text feature and keeping everything in writing because there were discrepancies regarding credits we were promised. There were unfortunately several maintenance and service issues during our stay. The living room TV constantly glitched and wouldn't sync properly even after maintenance attempted to fix it. More importantly, the AC completely stopped working in the rooftop terrace suite for hours while we hosted about 25 guests for the graduation party. Everyone was hot and sweaty in almost 100-degree indoor conditions. Thankfully the terrace breeze helped, but being offered only a $100 credit for such a major issue during a once-in-a-lifetime celebration felt insufficient! The parking garage situation was also frustrating. We were told our vehicles could enter and exit freely with the resort fee, but every time we tried leaving, the room keys and garage passes failed. We repeatedly went back to front desk to get new passes and had to pay $40 to exit then contact customer service afterward for refunds such a waste of vacation time Customer service overall was very hit or miss. Some employees were wonderful while others seemed miserable and unfriendly. The onsite coffee shop was particularly disappointing I'd recommend walking across the street from The front lobby to the real Starbucks instead. At times it felt like the hotel relies heavily on its excellent location and beach proximity rather than consistent service standards.Coming from previous stays at Sandpearl Resort, I personally would still choose Sandpearl for smaller family vacations. However, I will say this hotel offers more flexibility for large gatherings and easier garage access compared to Sandpearl's valet-only setup. That said, between the AC outage, power issues in BOTH suites floor 8 and 17, lukewarm water, TV problems, phone problems, garage charges, and inconsistent customer service, I would probably try another Clearwater Beach hotel next time. We still made wonderful graduation memories and the location, spacious suites, rooftop terrace, and beach convenience were definitely the highlights of our stay.

And not one spider or bug on that balcony the whole week we were there! Five stars just for that! All staff were very friendly, in fact I believe it was a manager that bought me and my husband drinks after we walked down 15 flights of stairs during a fire alarm. (I swear nobody else even heeded the alarm, we were the only one in the stairwell). We only ate breakfast in the main restaurant (which was good), but we did have room service a couple of times and enjoyed the rooftop bar, The Tropico, for food and drinks. (The kids menu burgers and fries was plenty for me!) All were good experiences. Hotel is in walking distance of so many restaurants, shops and of course, the pier. We only hung out on the beach one day with the loungers and cabana. I was a little disappointed that they weren't included in the stay. The cost was $30 per day. Otherwise I was content to hang out on the loungers at the pool. A store called Surf Style is just a couple of doors down that has besides clothing, your snacks, drinks and all the tourist goodies.

Located on the beach in Clearwater, this resort has amazing views of the cotton candy sunsets , a spa , fine dining restaurants and a great outdoor pool and tiki bar that we visited daily for lunch. I booked a spa appointment for the Grounded Serenity ( about $325 for 120 minutes ) which was a perfect way to end my stay at the resort. The spa is on sight and you can book your services in advance or while staying at the resort. Go online as they have so many options that are fabulous. Valet parking is around $40 a night and there is a daily resort fee added to the stay. Rooms range from about $289-400 a night depending on time of year and suite selected. I've stayed at other resorts and hotel brands in Clearwater and I must say, this was worth every dollar spent. I look forward to more stays at this Resort for sure.

3.5/5 Stars - Nice Location, But Service Fell Short…read more I stayed at Opal Sands Resort from Friday through Sunday, and while it was a nice weekend getaway, the experience didn't quite live up to the price or the expectations. Check-In: The check-in experience wasn't the warmest. The front desk associate was polite, but the interaction felt very transactional, more like, "Here's your key, hand me your credit card, have a great day," rather than making us feel welcomed to the resort. Room: Our Gulf View room on the 5th floor overlooking the pool was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was quiet for the most part. Occasionally, you could hear music from the pool area, but it wasn't disruptive. Pool: The pool itself was great. The water temperature was perfect, and we had no trouble finding chairs both times we used it. The music wasn't really our style, so I brought a small speaker and played my own without any issues. Unfortunately, the pool service left a lot to be desired. Getting a server's attention felt like a mission. I ordered a piña colada, which tasted good--especially whatever they put around the rim, but it barely seemed to contain any alcohol. The same happened with a whiskey and club soda; it tasted almost entirely like club soda with just a splash of whiskey. For the prices they charge, I expected much better. Beach: On our second day, we decided to spend time on the beach. The day before, we had asked how the cabanas and umbrellas worked and were told everything was first come, first served. Based on that information, we assumed they were included with the resort stay. We grabbed towels from the pool, found an open cabana, and about 20 minutes later an employee informed us there was a $50 charge to use it. We had no issue paying the fee, but the lack of communication from the front desk and other staff was frustrating. Better communication would have prevented the confusion. Food: I had breakfast at the restaurant on the first floor. The food was decent but nothing memorable or worth going out of your way for. Overall: For the price, I expected a higher level of service and better communication from the staff. The property itself is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, and the location is excellent, but the service and food and beverage experience brought the overall rating down. Overall Rating: 3.5/5 Would I stay here again? Probably not. Next time I'd be more interested in trying the hotel next door, The Sol, which looked beautifully decorated and has two pools instead of one. Hopefully the overall guest experience is better.

There was just too many things that left us disappointed on our first trip here. There are 2 EV charging spots which was a lifesaver this trip and being a trolley stop was absolutely amazing for getting over the bridge into Clearwater Beach stress free. We saw pictures of a tennis and pickleball court online but those have been demolished and replaced by a grassy area :(. Thankfully sand bay tennis park is less than a mile away and the trolley does stop there. 3 volleyball courts which were great and sunsets 10/10! The Easter Egg hunt was a fun and unexpected treat for the kids :) well organized. I checked in early on the app, knowing it was a holiday weekend and there may not be rooms available early. We were able to pick up wristbands right away but we later found out these were not watched or enforced anywhere. In fact, you do not even need a key to enter the building from the pool/beach. I believe this added to the insane crowding at the pool. Could not find a pool chair at ALL - very stressful and had to set our belongings on the ground in order to swim. They could not keep up with the towels either and by 3-4PM, you could not get one at all. The pool bar had short hours and the line was insanely long every day. The pool bar shared the same line as ordering the food truck food which added to that chaos as well. On Friday the food truck shut down early as well. There was one water dispenser in the lobby but it was always empty. I felt like a bother asking the mainstay tavern for water. The food there was very good and we ordered to go. The gym was amazing 10/10. The beds were AWFUL 0/10 they are on a platform with absolute no give at all - ROCK hard!!! Had to walk across the street to the other Marriott location to get espresso coffee. The extra charges are too much - says $30/night to park but after taxes and fees it is $35 a night and $25 a night for the resort fee which doesn't cover anything but bikes as the trolley is already free. It is $45 to rent 2 chairs and an umbrella at the beach. The resort fee should offset this cost!!!!! The location is amazing but these extra charges are just too much and our stay left a lot to be desired. I also had a fraud charge immediately following paying for parking even though I used the QR code at the front desk and have not used that credit card for any other purchases - I wish this was charged directly through the hotel instead. It is not gated.

It's kind of strange as you have to go up from the parking garage to the 5th level to get to the front desk as there is now obvious entrance street level. When you're eating breakfast you have a great view of the marina and beach. It was fun to watch the dolphins that came into the marina to eat. The location of the hotel is extremely convenient, right on the marina and only a short walk from the beach. Staff was polite and very helpful. The elevators are fast which is nice too. The cost was reasonable, especially compared to other hotels on the beach. Lot's to watch on tv including free Netflix. It's a little older hotel but they keep it clean and in good condition. On the 10th floor is Jimmy's Crow's Nest bar and restaurant which is outside. Never ate anything there but did get drinks and they were good. They do a free shot at sunset every night too. Disappointing experience with clear racial undertones…read more I stayed at Pier 60 Clearwater Beach for a family emergency and was extremely disappointed with part of my experience. While some front desk staff were professional and helpful, the interaction with the bartender and the general manager on February 17th left a bad taste. When I attempted to pay a $30 tab, I was asked multiple times for my credit cards in a condescending manner. Despite my cards working, the bartender struggled with the payment system. When the GM stepped in, the same card that was "declined" magically worked immediately -- an interaction I recorded. This experience gave the impression of racial bias, as I highly doubt a white patron would have been treated the same way. I am a Black professional and a doctor currently working with the FBI, and I found the behavior unnecessary, unprofessional, and stressful during an already difficult family situation. While the GM attempted to address the issue, he was dismissive and walked away during the conversation. Two things can be true: some staff were courteous and kind, but the bartender and the handling of the payment issue created a negative and unnecessary experience. Unfortunately, this completely overshadowed the positive aspects of my stay, and I would not recommend this hotel for Black patrons or Black professionals at this time. Summary: Positive interactions with some staff were erased by poor service and racial undertones. If management wishes to address this, I would be willing to provide recorded documentation.

Still a solid experience…read more We came here for one evening to celebrate the end of school. We came at about 3:15 PM on a Friday and our room was ready early which was great. We were on floor 16 which is the top floor. At first, I was worried I would be afraid going on the balcony because of how high it is, but it doesn't feel terribly high. I actually recommend asking for a higher floor because that's where the best views of the beach are. We only went to the Opal sol pool this time instead of Opal Sands. They have two pools, which is great because one felt like an adult pool whereas the other one felt like a children pool even though there was no designation. It made me feel better about my two children splashing about. There is also a pool by the Spa that I think adults should escape to if they want to get away from children. The one downside of the pool is they don't have many servers walking around taking orders. I ended up walking up to the bar to put in a food and drink order because the only server was on the far side of the pool the entire time. I tried berries and bubbles and a strawberry Mo-to-to, both were fantastic. We learned we do not like the chips and salsa. My older son did and liked the queso, but nobody else in the family did. We also love the hot tub and you can turn on jets if you want. Even though it doesn't feel like they have a ton of seating, we never had a hard time finding a seat, so people do a good job cleaning up after themselves if they leave their seats. They also have tons of towels, I never thought I would appreciate this so much until we were at another hotel that limited guests to four at a time, so I appreciate that you can take towels to the beach and then come back and grab new towels. The rooms are beautiful. They feel spacious and everything is still pretty new since it was built at the beginning of 2025. All rooms look at the beach, so it is nice sitting on the balcony and looking out at the water. One random criticism is that they don't have any non-caffeinated tea, all their tea has caffeine in it that they offer in the room. Room service is very quick. We got chicken tenders and fries and grilled chicken and fries. I tried the Ahi tuna starter and loved it. My younger son loved his grilled chicken and older son ate the fries. Even though the hotel isn't right on the beach, it is literally across the street from the beach so super convenient to get to. Clearwater beach is beautiful. It has powdery white sand, and there are ample amounts of chairs that you can purchase to sit on. They only have valet so the one downside is it takes a while to get your car, but if most of your vacation is on the beach, you won't need your car anyway. I also appreciate that they have snacks that they put out at 8 AM. They also apparently have cookies at 3 PM, but we totally missed seeing that. I forgot to bring the kids snacks so this was a lifesaver when the kids grabbed granola bars for breakfast. They also have Board games on every floor, which I think is a nice touch. I always enjoy our stay here. I would recommend.

For a hotel that promotes itself as smoke-free, this was extremely disappointing. The bigger issue happened on our third day. There was a fire alarm going off in the hotel, but we were staying on the sixth floor and did not hear any alarm on our floor. The only reason we knew something was happening was because we received a phone call from someone we're staying with telling everyone to evacuate. If my family and I had been sleeping, we would have had no idea there was an emergency. That is a serious safety concern. When I spoke with management, I was told the alarm only sounds on certain floors due to firewalls between levels. Regardless of the explanation, fire safety should protect every guest equally. Fire travels upward, instead of an audible alarm on every floor is unacceptable. To make matters worse, management was dismissive and unhelpful. When guests were allowed back inside, we were told the fire department would contact management, but there was no clear explanation and no accountability taken. Overall, this stay was stressful and disappointing. Between the lack of enforcement of the smoke-free policy and the serious safety concerns regarding the fire alarm system, I would not feel comfortable staying here again.
