One of my favorite places to eat- and I'm a local. Best view of a sunset and the way the hotel is positioned, you don't even see the craziness if typical Clearwater Beach. When you are here, you feel like you're on a cruise with the type of fence that's up at the restaurant. The live music is good- sometimes a bit loud for dinner conversation. The menu is simple but good. We live the fajitas! The tiki bar is cool too. Great place to take visiting friends.

The Tiki Bar at the Opal Sands was fantastic. The beach views were beautiful and our bartender Kelsey was great. The beachside Bloody Mary's which came with a cheese, shrimp, and spicy olive skewer were the perfect start to the day. Kelsey recommended the Kiwi Sour cocktail and she was not lying it was so good! Me and my husband shared the Grouper Basket with fries, it was not greasy at all and was enough to share. Very nice experience all around.

This place is the best! And shoutout to Al! He acknowledged our engagement and brought us champagne, the food was excellent, and the drinks were smooth. Highly recommend

The Sandbar is the perfect spot for a chill beachside meal with an unbeatable view. I had the Cuban sandwich--it was flavorful, filling, and came with a side of coleslaw, all decently priced. The service was friendly and quick, even with a steady crowd. Watching the sunset over the water while eating dinner made the whole experience unforgettable--highly recommend for a casual, scenic night out!

Go for the views- not the food or drinks. The views are unbeatable but the menu is just okay and the drinks are way overpriced compared to the rest of the area. However, if you can, go for the sunset!

It wasn't till after I checked in that I found out the beach access is closed as well. The tiki bar has been blown away. Why can't hotels be transparent and let you know that the hotel is not 100% open based on the website. So moving on, I come downstairs to the pool and as I'm sitting in the pool next to me is someone's lunch or what's left of it. I brought this to the attention of management. They appeared as if no big deal and sent someone over to go clean it up who obviously was beneath them. . Turn off guys! Approximately 2:46 in the morning, someone's dog kept barking in intervals for about two hours. I called downstairs. Phone rang 10 times no answer. The food at the pool was about a five out of a 10 the reason being was the chicken wings were not fully cooked and the hamburger ordered medium came out raw. I had dinner and the restaurant and ordered chicken piccata. It had a very bland cafeteria taste to it as if most of it was out of a jar. I don't believe I would return to the hotel however it's too bad because the view is really nice, but I think what they're chasing here is your money and I believe it to be a major tourist trap with some property view to bring you in. Luckily, I had my phone in my hand when I spotted someone's lunch so here's a snapshot.

This is a challenging review to give. Let me start with the positives The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are beautifully decorated with one of the most comfortable mattresses I've been on. We had a king room that had extra space and a comfy couch to sit on. We were on the top 15th floor facing the Gulf. There was a small refrigerator for water bottles and a Nespresso machine. Would have much preferred a regular coffee machine or a Keurig machine. You could get regular coffee or coffee drinks down in the lobby for a charge. So the room was a 10/10. Each floor has a pantry that is stocked with refrigerated water bottles that are free to take. In the morning there is also fruit and small bags of Chex mix cereal and granola bars. In the afternoon there are sugar and chocolate chip cookies. Housekeeping, Valets and front desk personnel were all very nice and helpful. The main restaurant Seaquini was outstanding and I reviewed it separately. My wife used the spa services and was very pleased We did go to the more casual restaurant outside but our meal was not very good. The server was very nice and service was efficient. The place was chaotic as there were tons of people there. Sitting outside here you had a front row seat of the sunset. The negatives: We were there the week leading up to Easter. A lot of families with small children. Lots of noise. By 9am there were no seats poolside to sit in. This is one of those weeks where people were going down at 8 am and putting their stuff down to get seats. Since it was just my wife and I , we weren't about to do that plus it was too chaotic and noisy for us. So we stayed on our balcony but still heard all the screaming even though we were on the 15th floor. Thought about going to the beach that was right next to the hotel however that was more crowded than the hotel. Come to find out it was a public beach so everyone from the surrounding areas was there. That definitely was omitted in the description. So I know we traveled the week of Easter and that was my fault and I won't do that again. It was spontaneous decision made exactly one week before we arrived because we had a great experience at the Opal resort in Jupiter a month earlier. I know the hotel can't be responsible for kids behaviors or lack of parenting. We had to deal with a screaming kid running up and down the hallway every morning at 730. That repeated itself in the evening. So you get charged a resort fee every day but we did not get to enjoy any of the outdoor resort. Interesting that every couple that we met at the bar inside had the same complaint This is a beautiful resort, just don't go around school vacations unless of course you're going with your own small kids. Also be aware this sits right next to a public beach

Came here on a Saturday night for dinner. The wait for 3 was 45-50 minutes at peak time, but waiting was quite enjoyable as there are amazing views of the sunset as it's right on the beach. The crowd did not seem too rowdy to not want to dine there, and we had time to review the menu. Adequate lighting is provided as it gets darker in the evening, and the menu is not extensive but a fair amount of options. The grouper sandwich was excellent. The frozen fruity drinks were ok. The service was never outright rude, but felt a bit rushed. This place is a must visit for the ambiance, but for the price the drinks could be a little better. If they could improve on this it could easily be a five star venue. Get there early enough and enjoy the sunset!

The cavatelli's with crab and lobster was arguably the best meal I ever had in my life. Our waiter was wonderful. Older Latin man. Fredrico? Something like that. Excellent server. The ambience was wonderful. I enjoyed every second.

Great place to go for drinks as part of Opal Sands resort. Vic at the bar was fantastic and gave great service. The views of sunset here are gorgeous. Plenty of space to view the sunset. They also serve tiki cocktails and food such as fish tacos and burgers. Open 11am to 9pm 7 days a week. Happy hour 2-4.

Ok place. It's a tourist trap but the views are dynamic. Just wait for the perfect seat and you will be fine. The pulled pork tacos are good.

A weekend getaway and the Opal was outstanding! Great staff, very clean, opulent, rooms were very comfortable and nice sized bathrooms. Our first day here we were in the pool just about the entire time. Waitstaff will come arround to get your drink or meal order. Very relaxing. Nick, a bartender by the pool is a true gentleman and outstanding bartender. We ate dinner at the Guini restaurant and that did not disappoint either. An all round classy place!!!!

This was our first time staying at this resort. It is only 5-6 years old and you can certainly tell. Modern design, bright colors inside, well kept exterior. We are "locals" in a sense that we live in central Florida. We made spring break plans with another couple and their son. Our plans were made in advance but were somewhat impulsive....we really didn't know what to expect. We had a 2 bedroom suite on the 11th floor with a great view of the beach looking north but also in a position to watch the sunset. I felt the price was reasonable and for the value, it would be tough to top Opal Sands. From the Sand Bar bartenders Nick and Chase (to name a few) to the great service provided by the bellhops and valet team, to the housekeeping team.....Opal Sands made me feel like an old friend reuniting! The rooms are nicely furnished, modern colors and design, nice beds, high thread count sheets, and of course, all the other amenities you would expect from a higher end resort. The restaurant had some great options as well! We did go out to local restaurants mostly but the 3-4 meals we had on site were great!! Especially if you love grouper like I do! The breakfast is also outstanding. $23 for an adult buffet which includes customized omelette, pancakes, ect. I really loved my week long stay here and can't wait to come back.

Still a solid experience…read more We came here for one evening to celebrate the end of school. We came at about 3:15 PM on a Friday and our room was ready early which was great. We were on floor 16 which is the top floor. At first, I was worried I would be afraid going on the balcony because of how high it is, but it doesn't feel terribly high. I actually recommend asking for a higher floor because that's where the best views of the beach are. We only went to the Opal sol pool this time instead of Opal Sands. They have two pools, which is great because one felt like an adult pool whereas the other one felt like a children pool even though there was no designation. It made me feel better about my two children splashing about. There is also a pool by the Spa that I think adults should escape to if they want to get away from children. The one downside of the pool is they don't have many servers walking around taking orders. I ended up walking up to the bar to put in a food and drink order because the only server was on the far side of the pool the entire time. I tried berries and bubbles and a strawberry Mo-to-to, both were fantastic. We learned we do not like the chips and salsa. My older son did and liked the queso, but nobody else in the family did. We also love the hot tub and you can turn on jets if you want. Even though it doesn't feel like they have a ton of seating, we never had a hard time finding a seat, so people do a good job cleaning up after themselves if they leave their seats. They also have tons of towels, I never thought I would appreciate this so much until we were at another hotel that limited guests to four at a time, so I appreciate that you can take towels to the beach and then come back and grab new towels. The rooms are beautiful. They feel spacious and everything is still pretty new since it was built at the beginning of 2025. All rooms look at the beach, so it is nice sitting on the balcony and looking out at the water. One random criticism is that they don't have any non-caffeinated tea, all their tea has caffeine in it that they offer in the room. Room service is very quick. We got chicken tenders and fries and grilled chicken and fries. I tried the Ahi tuna starter and loved it. My younger son loved his grilled chicken and older son ate the fries. Even though the hotel isn't right on the beach, it is literally across the street from the beach so super convenient to get to. Clearwater beach is beautiful. It has powdery white sand, and there are ample amounts of chairs that you can purchase to sit on. They only have valet so the one downside is it takes a while to get your car, but if most of your vacation is on the beach, you won't need your car anyway. I also appreciate that they have snacks that they put out at 8 AM. They also apparently have cookies at 3 PM, but we totally missed seeing that. I forgot to bring the kids snacks so this was a lifesaver when the kids grabbed granola bars for breakfast. They also have Board games on every floor, which I think is a nice touch. I always enjoy our stay here. I would recommend.

I rarely write reviews, but this experience needs to be shared…read more Before even arriving, I received an email stating that the hotel is a strictly smoke-free property. However, on our very first day, while sitting with my family eating lunch at the pool area, we were overwhelmed by a strong marijuana smell coming from the table next to us. For a hotel that promotes itself as smoke-free, this was extremely disappointing. The bigger issue happened on our third day. There was a fire alarm going off in the hotel, but we were staying on the sixth floor and did not hear any alarm on our floor. The only reason we knew something was happening was because we received a phone call from someone we're staying with telling everyone to evacuate. If my family and I had been sleeping, we would have had no idea there was an emergency. That is a serious safety concern. When I spoke with management, I was told the alarm only sounds on certain floors due to firewalls between levels. Regardless of the explanation, fire safety should protect every guest equally. Fire travels upward, instead of an audible alarm on every floor is unacceptable. To make matters worse, management was dismissive and unhelpful. When guests were allowed back inside, we were told the fire department would contact management, but there was no clear explanation and no accountability taken. Overall, this stay was stressful and disappointing. Between the lack of enforcement of the smoke-free policy and the serious safety concerns regarding the fire alarm system, I would not feel comfortable staying here again.

The hotel itself is beautiful and centrally located on Clearwater Beach with just a short walk across the street to the beach. We booked two suites , a 2 queen private rooftop terrace suite with a full kitchen and a poolside king suite with a kitchenette which were spacious and perfect for our large gathering. The rooftop terrace was definitely a highlight, and the hotel is within walking distance to restaurants, the pier, playgrounds, and shops. I also liked that the pool is on the 8th floor with a great view and access limited to hotel guests only. Pool chairs were very comfortable, towels were unlimited with no towel card system, and beach cabana/umbrella rentals were half off for guests. The hot tub being on the 16th floor separate from the pool didn't make much sense though. Room service was daily, and I appreciated being able to text the front desk instead of calling. I highly recommend using the text feature and keeping everything in writing because there were discrepancies regarding credits we were promised. There were unfortunately several maintenance and service issues during our stay. The living room TV constantly glitched and wouldn't sync properly even after maintenance attempted to fix it. More importantly, the AC completely stopped working in the rooftop terrace suite for hours while we hosted about 25 guests for the graduation party. Everyone was hot and sweaty in almost 100-degree indoor conditions. Thankfully the terrace breeze helped, but being offered only a $100 credit for such a major issue during a once-in-a-lifetime celebration felt insufficient! The parking garage situation was also frustrating. We were told our vehicles could enter and exit freely with the resort fee, but every time we tried leaving, the room keys and garage passes failed. We repeatedly went back to front desk to get new passes and had to pay $40 to exit then contact customer service afterward for refunds such a waste of vacation time Customer service overall was very hit or miss. Some employees were wonderful while others seemed miserable and unfriendly. The onsite coffee shop was particularly disappointing I'd recommend walking across the street from The front lobby to the real Starbucks instead. At times it felt like the hotel relies heavily on its excellent location and beach proximity rather than consistent service standards.Coming from previous stays at Sandpearl Resort, I personally would still choose Sandpearl for smaller family vacations. However, I will say this hotel offers more flexibility for large gatherings and easier garage access compared to Sandpearl's valet-only setup. That said, between the AC outage, power issues in BOTH suites floor 8 and 17, lukewarm water, TV problems, phone problems, garage charges, and inconsistent customer service, I would probably try another Clearwater Beach hotel next time. We still made wonderful graduation memories and the location, spacious suites, rooftop terrace, and beach convenience were definitely the highlights of our stay.

(I swear nobody else even heeded the alarm, we were the only one in the stairwell). We only ate breakfast in the main restaurant (which was good), but we did have room service a couple of times and enjoyed the rooftop bar, The Tropico, for food and drinks. (The kids menu burgers and fries was plenty for me!) All were good experiences. Hotel is in walking distance of so many restaurants, shops and of course, the pier. We only hung out on the beach one day with the loungers and cabana. I was a little disappointed that they weren't included in the stay. The cost was $30 per day. Otherwise I was content to hang out on the loungers at the pool. A store called Surf Style is just a couple of doors down that has besides clothing, your snacks, drinks and all the tourist goodies.

Instead, we encountered poor communication, disorganization, and management that seemed incapable of delivering the experience their luxury rates promise. Once we finally got in, our luggage wasn't delivered as promised, the room phone didn't work, and maintenance had to make multiple trips to replace it before we could even begin to settle in. By the end of the evening, we still hadn't had a chance to unpack, shower, or relax after a full day of travel. The valet experience was equally disappointing--disorganized, unprofessional, and lacking even the most basic customer service. The mattress was also among the most uncomfortable I've ever slept on. The only employees who reflected the Marriott brand were the bartenders and the maintenance technician. Everyone else, including management, seemed indifferent to the issues we experienced. This is not a safe place for my infant to sleep- the walls are plastic and there is no infant bassinet. I told them this was not acceptable and they told me they would go to their sister property and get a crib to be brought to my room. Over a half hour later a man arrived with a pack-and-play-- absolutely ridiculous, what a joke. I sent him away and again called for the manager. He told me he'd have this corrected right away. By 8:30pm there was nothing brought to us, the baby was far past his bedtime and inconsolable so it was clear we needed to leave and go home for the comfort, health, and safety of our child; thankfully we live in Tampa and were not visiting out of state. The Manager Gergi tried to convince us to stay but could not tell me how long it would be until we could get a crib- saying he'd have to go check the other property and have it sent up and it was already an hour past my last request--which again, was one of FIVE TIMES I previously requested a crib.  Even after all of this- the hotel is trying to charge me! When we left, Gergi told me to call AMEX and request a refund and he'd "approve it all". I was annoyed that I again would have to do work on their behalf (they really couldn't call AMEX? how is this a 4 star hotel) but he also did not mention we would be charged any fee- he apologized over and over saying he understood why we were upset and leaving, which I logically understood meant he'd take care of ANY bill/fees after cancelling with AMEX because of this extreme inconvenience and literally ruining our weekend getaway trip for our anniversary (they knew about my anniversary and congratulated us in the email reply). When I called AMEX, they told me he is insisting on charging me a cancellation fee for the night because it is "hotel policy". The thing about a hotel policy is that it is made up BY THE HOTEL and they can choose not to enforce it- there is no law for this fee. If anything I should request reimbursement for gas and incidentals purchased for this trip, this was my infant's first time to the beach and this memory is now tarnished. What pathetic service on such a simple request. The most basic fundamental thing a hotel is supposed to provide is a clean and safe place for its customers to sleep- they couldn't even do that but I'm supposed to pay? The hotel materially failed to provide the accommodations I relied upon when booking, therefore I opened a case with AMEX to refuse any and all charges and will escalate further if necessary.

Unfortunately the female supervisor was just as horrendous with her eye rolls and unwillingness to assist. There was old vomit in the right corner next to the bed. The shower bottles were empty. There's a 35$ service charge that they don't inform you about but with the welcome card says it's optional - it's not. Had to request water in the room NUMEROUS times. Was continually hit on while requesting to rent a cabana. Clearly inappropriate behavior to ask to color in my tattoos as an employee. Other vacationers who had way too much to drink making sounds and comments at me trying to get to the beach. Highly, highly recommend looking at other hotels for your next stay. Not female friendly! I did not feel safe staying here. The sliding door didn't lock. The AC was loud and kept us up. Will NOT be back. To the business owner: continually commenting that these frustrations will be brought up to management is not a proactive stance on getting your systems in place. Especially that you reply to everyones negative review exactly the same. I hope you reassess your responsibilities as a manager.

I wanted to leave 5 stars... But couldn't I want to start by recognizing the phenomenal staff members who made a positive impact. Brendan at the front desk provided a wonderful check-in experience. Randy in the Mainstays Tavern took VIP-like care of us every time we visited, as did Lexi during our dinner. Jordan out folding all the pool towels. David maybe giving rides via golf cart to beach - very nice and appreciated. I also want to thank staff for the thoughtful birthday note and the "sun and fun" package waiting in our room. Additionally, Debra was incredibly kind when we stopped in for breakfast!! However, I found the digital portal communication to be less than desirable. I had to report a smoking violation at least four times. I also reported guests using the hot tub after hours due to the noise while I was trying to get my family to bed. While I did speak with the front desk night manager, who was apologetic regarding these repeated nuisances, I left feeling that my value as a loyal guest was not fully recognized. I appreciate the high level of service provided by your hospitality team and hope this feedback helps improve the response consistency for future stays. There was just too many things that left us disappointed on our first trip here. There are 2 EV charging spots which was a lifesaver this trip and being a trolley stop was absolutely amazing for getting over the bridge into Clearwater Beach stress free. We saw pictures of a tennis and pickleball court online but those have been demolished and replaced by a grassy area :(. Thankfully sand bay tennis park is less than a mile away and the trolley does stop there. 3 volleyball courts which were great and sunsets 10/10! The Easter Egg hunt was a fun and unexpected treat for the kids :) well organized. I checked in early on the app, knowing it was a holiday weekend and there may not be rooms available early. We were able to pick up wristbands right away but we later found out these were not watched or enforced anywhere. In fact, you do not even need a key to enter the building from the pool/beach. I believe this added to the insane crowding at the pool. Could not find a pool chair at ALL - very stressful and had to set our belongings on the ground in order to swim. They could not keep up with the towels either and by 3-4PM, you could not get one at all. The pool bar had short hours and the line was insanely long every day. The pool bar shared the same line as ordering the food truck food which added to that chaos as well. On Friday the food truck shut down early as well. There was one water dispenser in the lobby but it was always empty. I felt like a bother asking the mainstay tavern for water. The food there was very good and we ordered to go. The gym was amazing 10/10. The beds were AWFUL 0/10 they are on a platform with absolute no give at all - ROCK hard!!! Had to walk across the street to the other Marriott location to get espresso coffee. The extra charges are too much - says $30/night to park but after taxes and fees it is $35 a night and $25 a night for the resort fee which doesn't cover anything but bikes as the trolley is already free. It is $45 to rent 2 chairs and an umbrella at the beach. The resort fee should offset this cost!!!!! The location is amazing but these extra charges are just too much and our stay left a lot to be desired. I also had a fraud charge immediately following paying for parking even though I used the QR code at the front desk and have not used that credit card for any other purchases - I wish this was charged directly through the hotel instead. It is not gated.
