Customer service told us they had to send a technician out for $180 to diagnose the issue even though I sent a photo of the problem and was told a technician, who was consulted, said it was a simple fix. They are a terrible company. Their customer service reps have lied to us repeatedly and have played games for 2 years. There were large gaps between the panes and frames that let cold air in the house that had to be covered with tape. They sent a replacement door handle (after me having to fight them on the warranty claim) for my sliding door and it had no screw holes! I had not opened the package to examine when received but after a year when I went to install it I noticed the defect. I have never been treated this horribly before by customer service. I worked with Caillum (or Kaylum) to order new parts for my old Pella windows. When the technician came out on 6/20, he said they ordered the wrong parts, and said someone from Pella would reach out to me. On 6/26, I hadn't heard anything from Pella so I called. I was told that I would be refunded the cost of the parts soon. I was also told that I would not be refunded the $250 labor fee because they were ordering new parts and the technician would need to come back out to install them. I received a notice of refund via email on 7/9. I have sent Pella several emails requesting an update but did not receive a reply to any of them. Today, 7/14, I called to request an update on my new parts and a refund on the labor fee. Caillum was so rude to me and acted like he was angry that I even called. He told me my case was closed, which was news to me. He didn't offer me any solutions or next steps to fix my broken windows. When I asked about refunding the parts labor fee, he got frustrated with me and said that the $250 was the cost to have the technician come to my home to tell me the parts were incorrect. I tried to tell him that my invoice designated the $250 for labor to install parts not to diagnose a problem. He kept repeating himself and taking over me. I asked to speak with his manager. He still kept repeating himself about why I was "wrong." When I asked him to please stop, he hung up on me. I then called the general number and spoke with Kylie. She apologized and said she would contact Caillum's manager Adam, and he should get back to me In 1-2 business days. I'm just so disappointed in how I've been treated by an Iowa based company. We used to have a local Pella store here and had great experiences with them. We have spent months trying to get information on what door handles to order for our Pella sliders. All we need to know is what to order. My husband will install them. Their customer service has basically been impossible to get answers from. If you order from their site, there are no returns so you are out of luck if you get the wrong handle. We finally decided to order some from Lowe's, figuring we could return them if they aren't right. May 22, 2025 - one star review I am very unhappy with this company, with customer service, with their product and with their overall responsiveness. I invited Pella Windows and Doors Northwest (Bothell, WA) to come to my home after seeing an ad about their company and products. On the afternoon of the appointment, two representatives of Pella came to my home. The sales pitch was 'under a time limit' - in other words, in order to get a special price deal, the customer has to decide right then and there if they are going to purchase new windows and sign a contract before the salesperson leaves the home. During the sales pitch, Kristen Inge, the salesperson, did not provide or even mention that there were samples of frosted or privacy glass for the bathroom window. I was not told that there were options. The first time I saw the type of glass was at installation. This was not the only thing they didn't tell me about, but it is a significant issue. As for the installation experience: 1. A few days before the installation started on March 25, 2025, I was advised via email that one item would be delayed and could not be installed with the other windows during the 4 days of scheduled installation. The actual installation delay was not advised. 2. On March 25, 2025, the installers arrived at 8:00 am. Between 10am and 11am, Day 1 of the installation, power was lost to 1/2 of the main floor living area because wiring was cut through by the installers. At that time, we did not know this was the cause. The installers simply said it was my problem because they were "not electricians". 3. On March 26, 2025, Day 2 of the installation, it was discovered that 2 windows were measured incorrectly by the Pella team, and the installation for those two windows would be delayed for 5-6 weeks. 4. During the power outage, I contacted Kristen Inge about the problem. Her initial reaction was that it was a problem with my house wiring and did not seem willing to consider that it might be an installation problem. After days of trying to troubleshoot this from my end, I contacted her again and said that the electrician I hired suggested cutting holes in the walls to try to find the break in the wiring. It was at that time she offered to send an electrician that would be paid for by Pella. I had already paid about $350-400 for troubleshooting as well as replacing breakers, outlets and plugs, hoping that it was a breaker or outlet problem. It was not, as it turned out, but I had already gone down that rabbit-hole. 5. On April 3, Seatown Electric came out at Pella's request and expense, and discovered that the wiring had been severed by the installer. 6. On April 10, 16 days after the power went out, Seatown was able to fix the severed wiring problem. Pella said they would pay for the repairs, but it turns out they made their installers pay for it. At no expense to Pella. That made it 16 days in my home without power to 1/2 of my main living area, yet I was not compensated in any way for this inconvenience. 7. On May 5 and 6, the Pella installers came back to finish the installation of 3 windows. That was 6 weeks from Day 1 of this installation project. It should have been 4 days, NOT 6 weeks 8. At the conclusion of the installation, I was asked by the installer to sign that the installation had been completed. I told the installer that I was not happy, yet was told by the installer that by signing, I was only signing off that he had completed the installation and not that everything with the job and product was fine. As it turned out, I was signing that everything was fine. Specific product complaint: The frosted bathroom window glass is defective. It has obvious scratches and is difficult to slide. #1 the window is defective, #2 it is a bad product, and #3 I think the Pella company can afford to replace this window with a clear glass instead of with frosted glass, since it is under warranty and needs to be replaced. #4 Pella has offered to replace the glass with the same frosted glass, but not with clear glass. If I want to change to clear glass, they will give me a quote. With all of the problems I have had with this company, I am under the impression that they consider these "normal" problems. I do not think that all of the issues I have had should be considered normal business practices. I think that future customers should know that there is a downside to buying such an expensive product from Pella, and what kind of company they are potentially dealing with. We had purchased windows and sliding glass doors with the blinds in them. There was a problem with the insulation in the sliding glass doors which they said would be under warranty. They ordered the doors came out 1/13/2025 to replace and the panels they brought were the wrong size, they reordered and scheduled for 3/10/2025. They came out 3/10/2025 again the panels were the wrong size. For 5 days I have been trying to get an answer on why this keeps happening and when they will reorder panels. Had the windows installed on Super Bowl Day. The installers appeared to be in rush to complete the window projects and did not admit that they damaged three different parts. They were about leaving the house without asking me to check the windows, but I requested one of them to stay until I checked everything, and I found those damages. My concern with the company was their INTERGRITY. My questions, why did they not inspect the windows before installing? Or did they already damage them while installing without letting me know? I requested for the new window replacements again. About a month and half later, I finally got my windows replaced. They did better, unfortunately they did not earn my trust. Our client has spent well 50K over Pella window in the past and, want to complete their resident with same type of windows. I placed an order on August 17, 2024 and was told it would be max 3-4 weeks because we ordered the basic package to reduce time in production. I was clear from the start that I needed to rent my home and I was looking for a prompt replacement. Well its been almost 3 months and I keep getting the runaround. No call front a manager yet even after requesting a call. I'm stuck paying two mortgages now because of their lack of communication. All I keep getting is a blame on manufacturing. Absolutely terrible experience with Pella! Way more expensive than Millard and poor product and even worse customer service. They delivered a completely DAMAGED, bowed, double door after five months of waiting, then refused to refund our almost 1K deposit when we opted to go elsewhere. When you spend that much for a door you expect things to be seamless, but they don't even have quality control to inspect the product before it gets delivered? In reading other reviews this seems to be a common problem. Pella windows and doors are over priced, poor customer service, and are incompetent. Pella requested payment in full in the first week of June of 2024. They measured 10 days latter to ensure all products delivered and installed. They installed arrived 8 weeks later . They installed a new kitchen door without my touchpad deadbolt . I have been without a secure lock on my side door for 10 weeks. After numerous attempts 9-12 emails , nine weeks latter they finally arrived to install my existing deadbolt.on O river 16,2024 . the Pella installer did not install the confirmed schledge original dial pad and put in a standard dead bolt Inconsistent with the contract specifications. The delay , absorbent costs, lack of professionalism and incompetence of Pella windows and doors has been a nightmare. This company is terrible at customer service. I bought their aluminum clad casement windows 17 years ago. I was told they would not rot like standard wood windows because of the aluminum cladding. I thought I was buying a top of the line, premium quality window. I was wrong. Eight of the twelve windows on the front of my home are rotting. The rot is from the outside which is aluminum clad to the inside. You cannot tell there is rot until it is too late, and it breaks thru the paint on the inside. I found it odd I had so many windows rotting and googled the issue and found there had been a class action lawsuit over these windows. So, Pella is aware of the issue with these windows. I contacted the local office and was told since I bought wood windows, I had to expect them to rot. I asked what we can do about the windows. They said they were out of warranty, and I would have to buy new sashes. I asked since this is a known problem would Pella replace the sashes or cut me a break on the sashes. The answer was "No, you bought wood windows, you should expect them to rot." The replacement sashes will cost me roughly $34,000. So, it will have cost me about $2000 per year to have Pella windows on the front of my house. The service rep said because of the quantity of failing windows I have, they could give me some good discounts on replacement windows. The price for 12 replacement window was $62,000. They discounted their labor not the windows by $4000, so my cost would be $58,000. Before I spend any more money on Pella products I want to know more about their product. I asked four questions. 1) Is there a way to seal the four undamaged windows to keep them from rotting? 2) Will this same method slow or prevent further damage on the eight rotting windows? 3) Have they made any changes to design of the replacement sashes to prevent this from happening again? 4) What is the warranty on the replacement sashes? I have sent multiple emails with these questions over the last month to the local Pella service rep and to date have gotten no answer to any of my questions. WARRENTY and CUSTOMER SERVICE In the last 1990's, we had installed about $25k of Pella windows. They were good quality and have held up well over the years. However within the last month, one of our casement windows cracked. We contacted Pella to ask how the cracked window could be repaired. The answer was the entire window had to be replaced (this included the two casement windows and the center non-casement window). We asked whether just one of the single casements could be placed and the answer was no. We then asked if they could look up the window serial number and let us know if there was gas in between the inner and outer casement windows and the answer was no they could not assist. Built a house in 1997. Decided to use all top of the line Pella Windows and Doors and I have a LOT of windows. So, a few years ago, I had a door lock that would not work. Called local Pella and they sent a service man over in a couple of days to fix it. $200+ was OK. About 3 weeks ago, had another door lock that would not UNLOCK. Gear inside must have been stripped. Have several calls and emails, to determine the door type with a regional sales and support center (Local will not take service calls now, even thought the local repair man is 20 minutes away). Took 8 days just to get a quote. The quote to repair was door lock was $805+. Of which $230 was to install. Parts are 2 - 3 weeks lead time. So in summary, to repair a simple door lock it will take $805+ dollars and about 2 months. That is what you get when you purchase premium Pella Products. Buyer beware. If it was a Schlage lock I could go to Home Depot, but a repair part for less that $100. This is about VALUE for the $$$. Try another window manufacturer. People ask me all the time about my windows. Their fault! It has been many months and many more errors on Pella's part. Now given 9/28 as a probable date for the install. Having bought the top of the line Pellas, we believed the leak was due to faulty siding on the outside. We got a carpenter who did all he could to make sure the siding was fine at a cost of $ 1,500.00. With the first rain, the window leaked again. I am a custom home builder of +42 years. I put Pella windows in over 100 homes including my personal residence. I recently had a glass break on a Pella window. I called Pella to order a new sash (it is not as easy as calling a glass company to replace the glass) the entire sash has to be removed and the new sash installed. Pella informed me they no longer make parts for the Designer Series windows. I called the corporate office in IA and they told me I am basically out of luck. How can a high end window manufacturer not support their customers? I am not sure what I am going to do now. I have $75,000 worth of windows in my home and if there is another future glass breakage I am out of luck? I will never purchase another Pella window again. Purchased 3 windows and one sliding glass door. They slider was installed in September of 2022 and the seal failed on December 2022. Filed a claim with Pella in IOWA on January 3, 2023. It's June and their local servicer Pella Service at 2251 Claremont in Hayward can't seem to inspect or fix the door. Their customer service team in Hayward is awful. They have zero customer service skills and have come to my house twice to repair it, but never inspected the new panels (they said they did) that were both defective. They have wasted multiple hours of my time. They have serious lack of quality control and the owner should send his people to a training class to learn to deal with customers in a good manner. I can't believe Pella allows this team to do their warranty. I wouldn't recommend Pella products due to the lack of quality and support. over the years I purchased 12 windows and patio doors. i have a bow window in my living room one of the windows isn't closing and locking properly I called service in CT it took a month to get the appointment. two techs show up look at the window open it and says the window is sagging. it was installed by Pella in 2009. they said it's the cable needs to be tightened. I said ok they said no we don't do that work. what? they told me to call a general contractor. I called their office a week later because I didn't believe a company who installs window refused to fix mine. the gal I spoke to said she would call me back. that never happened. I wrote them an email all they said was they don't do that type of work nor do they touch the frame. I'm not sure what that means if it's the cable that needs to be tightened. I wrote them again and this time I asked for the schematic/drawings for my custom window they made. This time Jessica wrote back , she doesn't have them. Pella Corporation has poor customer service and diminished quality product(s). I had windows and doors done in 2009 with only half done. This was done with absolute professionalism and quality. Now, I had the last 1/2 of the windows replaced in 2019 November with no prevail in sloppy workmanship. Please do not use Pella Corporation for any services. Thank you. read more
