My mother ordered me a floral arrangement, (through 1800 flowers, Pemberton's Flowers Gifts was the company which fulfilled the order) with birds of paradise for my birthday, knowing of course that I very much enjoy this magnificent plant. The first aspect was that the flowers were late, they were supposed to be delivered on Wednesday 27 January 2016, my mother was e mailed at 1600 her time, which is 1700 oregon time to let her know they would not be delivered on that day; far too late in the day to be letting someone know this; after making up excuses as well as showing little to no regard in the fact that my grandparents stayed at home all day just to receive the arrangement that they said would be there on the 27, they said they would be delivered the next day, my mother expressed that they would not be staying at home all day again, to which a very light, insulting apology was made. These are flowers which could "not" be delivered to my personal address, and were to be delivered between " 1100 - 1400." 28 January 2016. The flowers, the orange lilies on the bottom were bruised and scared on their outer petals. The bird of paradise was deteriorating in health, the bloom was turning brown, drying out, a typical indication of what occurs during the end of the blooms lifespan. The bloom had been severely butchered, not pruned as it should have been but chopped off quickly, hastily cut in places taking away from from the beauty of this plant. The box which the arrangement was mounted in was way too shallow as well. It is top heavy and has potential to tip over easily. The bird of paradise bloom is heavy and in such a shallow base that I had to insert sticks and ties to avoid the bloom from breaking off, or leaning and causing further damage to the bloom and arrangement, something the florist should have known and done on their own. I expect far more from a professional florist, this unfortunately, is not, something I consider quality work. It resembles significant inexperience of working with this plant, as well as a lack of care in the quality of product. I also expect far more because I know how much blooms from these plants cost at florist shops, especially during the colder months. I also looked up what the floral arrangement should look like as well as did a comparison to the plant which I received, I kept in mind that replacements are at times necessary to certain arrangements, IF, certain products are not in stock. The product I received I can see the second bird of paradise bloom was likely, too far past its "prime" for the florist to leave on the plant, the health of the one bloom compared to the photo on their website is a complete joke, the photo shows a healthy orange and purple bloom, the typical bird of paradise most think about or see the most. I received a red bloom, the inner petals or "bird" of the flower were dried and shriveled up, further speaking how far gone this bloom actually was. This was compensated for with far more orange lilies than pictured and a alpinia purpurata, "red ginger", which also showed signs of a quick, hasty butcher to the leaves. The leaves of the floral arrangement were also damaged with rips and tears in them, damage that occurred prior to being put into the arrangement, apparent by the brown, shriveled, dried out coloration. Needless to say I am extraordinarily disappointed in the service my mother paid for as well as the quality and state of the floral arrangement. read more

Yelp helped me find Pemberton's and I decided to give them a shot and am thrilled I did. I live out of state, so was not sure who to use but I was sending flowers to my mother, who just had surgery. The gentleman was very helpful and ACTUALLY sent the color selection I requested. Plus, same day delivery and I feel that I got more than my moneys worth. Best florist in town in my opinion. They have the best looking and best priced long stem roses. The customer service is usually wonderful. I've only had one slightly negative experience and I think it was due in part to the emotion charge of my situation. I needed flowers for a funeral very specifically a pure colored rose. I called and was assured I could have pure yellow roses for pick up. When I got there they gave me yellow roses with pink edges. I asked if they had plain solid yellow and they said no with a sort of I know better attitude. I ended up plucking the pink petals off at the counter myself. I would still go back and still think they are best in town. It was just a really bad time for me and I needed pure yellow and was told that's what I would get. read more

I have been buying flowers from Pembertons for over 20 years. I buy for appreciation gifts, birthdays and to wish my ill clients well when they are in need of a pick me up. The flower arrangements are consistently lovely. The flowers are fresh as evidenced by how long they last once you give them away or get them home. I have bought at other florests and they are shriveled and gone before the week is out. Pembertons flowers consistently last two weeks if you resnip the stem ends at one week and ensure fresh water. I have had silk arrangements made for my office and they are exotic and gorgeous. I simply will not buy flowers anywere else if I am in Salem, Oregon. If you buy here, expect to pay a slightly higher price at times, but rest assured, you will get your moneys worth. read more

Disappointment!!! I ordered flowers for my daughter for her birthday and they cost me $40 plus a $10 delivery fee. I don't mind paying the delivery fee but $40 for 4 flowers total and A HELL OF A LOT of filler. And the snap dragons look wilted and browning. I am disgusted with this arrangement and the high price I paid for it!!!! I will never use this florist again and suggest no one else does either, unless you like paying pretty much $10 a flower...and only ONE of them was a rose...highway robbery!!!!!! read more

I live in Ontario Canada. My daughter lives in Salem OR. I wanted a winter porch pot for her front step for Christmas. After calling several florists and finding out that they had never heard of them I called Pemberton's. I spoke with Katie and told her what I was looking for. She picked up the challenge, went on line to check out what porch pots look like and then proceeded to make one to my specifications. She sent me photos of different pots from which I could choose, told me which boughs etc she had available and then over the next couple of days proceeded to make me a gorgeous pot. When completed she sent me a photo of the pot prior to delivering it. The level of customer service was absolutely incredible and all conducted in a most professional and friendly manner. Half the time I am not even sure what type of arrangement I want, but I tell them what the occasion is and some basic information about the person. Hmm i ordered flowers here and paid $75 for the arrangement and $10 delivery, and the product was not that impressive. For the amount you would think they'd put some expensive flowers in it but nope. I have had two experiences in the last two months with Pemberton's Flowers, and I am compelled to leave a review after the arrangement I received today. I ordered a dozen last minute, same day delivery roses at the beginning of July for a colleague, and Pemberton's came through in a big way. The flowers were spectacular, and they delivered in the window I requested. The woman I spoke to on the phone that day was helpful, suggesting an arrangement to fit my occasion. The price was very reasonable for 12 big roses. Today, I received a beautiful bouquet of my own with pink & cream roses and pink & white lilies (Well done to the man I am seeing!). The arrangement is gorgeous--probably the prettiest, freshest flowers I've ever received. The woman who delivered them had a huge smile on her face, and she made my day! Thank you, Pemberton's. It should be the same day or next day delivery and they told me they were full and my had to be deliver on a tuesday. When the delivery person arrived at the house the recipient wasn't home, and he didn't want to leave the delicate orchid out in the cold. May 10,13 Orders flower for daughters wedding. We were with the bride on our way up to Portland the groom emailed pics of the flowers. The lapel flowers were the right color pink, the bouquet was ORANGE. No orange was ordered!! They did fix it but I can not understand how they got half the order right and the other half so wrong. The other thing, when I called to tell them they passed me to 3 different people before someone would take responsibility. They did make it right but, but it meant a wait and pushed things back. Shows good character when you've made a mistake, acknowledge it, apologize, and make it right. I had ordered an arrangement for my mom for Mother's Day. I had specific instructions about what I wanted. On top of that, I asked to add a matching ribbon, which they added at no charge. I also asked they email me pictures of the bouquet so I could see it before they deliver. I don't think they typically do that, so it was very nice of them to agree to do so. I live out of state so last year I never saw the bouquet I had ordered for my mom. This year I wanted to see for myself. When the pics came, I saw it was all wrong. I had asked for yellow, they gave me red. I emailed them immediately and got a response within minutes. They realized their mistake and took care of it right away. Points for having a website so that you can see their arrangements online before you order. The website comes in handy for people who live out of state like myself. read more

I cannot express my gratitude enough for this florist. I ordered an arrangement in the a.m. for p.m. delivery (I should have been more organized and order day before). I was told it would be there 3:00-4:00 p.m......it arrived around 6:00 p.m., so happy it arrived. I then received a voice message from Greg stating he was using his personal phone because he had an issue with the address and apologizing it was delivered late (NOT APOLOGY NEEDED). He had read the message with the flowers and understood the importance of the delivery as it recognized the passing of my brothers daughter two years ago and he was damned determined to get the arrangement to the house. Two months ago i ordered an Oregon duck color arrangement for a close friends service. We we very pleased with the basket flower arrangement. So I called them again yesterday when another dear friend passed. I was embarrassed to see the arrangement that had our name attached to it. I asked for white lilies and red carnations for $65. (Not including the $10 delivery) there were two white lilies and four carnations with fill in greenery in a clear vase with a pathetic ribbon tied around it. I am so very disappointed!!! I placed an order online and requested a delivery date of Sunday, May 8th. The order went through and then I received an email saying that they were not open Sunday so would deliver Saturday instead. Despite the fact I hand picked every single part of my corsage and boutonniere, the florist still decided to add unwanted black, sparkly mesh and black fake leaves. My flowers ended up looking more like funeral decorations than prom accessories. Luckily, I was able to fix most of the problems myself, but I still would have liked to have had my flowers as I had asked them to be.
