I had been having a dental infection for THREE YEARS on and off. I broke down in the ER weeks ago and called this office and was told by the call center supervisor Julie to go to the ER in Richland and that there was a dental surgeon that contracted with them that could help me. I went to the ER and they looked at me like I was stupid because it was a stupid thing to do because it's not true. They sent me away and then I went back to the ER later that night because I'm in pain. Horrible pain that makes me want to end my life. Horrible pain that I have been dealing with for three f****** years. So would emergency consultation was scheduled for Monday morning and I was told that I did not have to have anybody with me in that I could be dropped off. I show up. All of a sudden one thing can't happen. And then another thing can't happen. And then it turns out someone was actually supposed to stay with me and not drop me off. It is my emergency but I am working with the schedule of my ride. What is so hard to understand or consider around that? And why is that the thing that prevented my care? Not having someone with me WHEN YOU YOURSELF SAID THAT I COULD BE DROPPED OFF. IF YOU HAD TOLD ME AT THE ER THAT I NEEDED SOMEONE WITH ME THEN THAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED BUT YOU SAID I COULD BE DROPPED OFF AND THEN YOU TURNED ME AWAY BECAUSE I DIDNT HAVE SOMEONE WITH ME AND YOU DID NOT ALLOW ME TO RESCHEDULE. My friends have a life, like everyone else, and this is not their emergency. The earliest I could reschedule to fit in a time where my friend could be with me was Friday. Dr Cooper I think it is told me that this is an emergency and it needs to happen that day and if it's not happening then it's not going to happen. And doctor, YOU may not think that I am important enough to reschedule for but my friends do think that I am important enough to schedule around. What you think of my worth does not define who I am as a person and I think that you are a worthless dentist and doctor for that reasoning. You should be ashamed of yourself and I hope you are. I pray that you are. Cuz then at least, maybe there's some humanity in you? Maybe. I have fantasized everyday about throwing myself off the blue bridge because I am still in pain. After you turned me away, after you refuse to see me because I left two negative reviews because you turned me away while I was in emergency dental pain, yeah I do think of you when I fantasize about throwing myself off the damn bridge because I felt so f****** worthless and small when I left your office. You showed me that my pain and my trauma is completely insignificant. So why would anybody care. Several months after my treatment, I was contacted and told that my insurance had denied the claim and that I now owed over $1,200 in additional charges, on top of the $700 I had already paid as a copay. After investigating with my insurance carrier, I learned that the denial occurred because the office failed to obtain a required prior authorization. Under the provider's contract with my insurance, for the procedure I received, my patient responsibility was $0. In other words, I did not legally or contractually owe anything beyond what insurance covered. Despite this, the office aggressively attempted to collect additional payment from me. Because my patient responsibility was zero, the $700 I paid was an overpayment that was only refunded after continued dispute. According to my insurance carrier, these collection attempts constituted a violation of the provider's contract. It was deeply troubling to be pressured to pay for a mistake that was not mine. I carry insurance specifically to avoid situations like this, and it is unacceptable for a provider to shift their administrative errors onto patients. While the clinical care was fine, I cannot recommend this office due to its handling of billing issues. Patients should be able to trust that insurance is processed correctly and that they will not be pressured into paying charges they do not owe.
