I prefer this locations because it's a lot easier than to go on post, since my husband in no longer with the Army. I usually never have to go into the branch but my ATM card stopped working, and I didn't feel like having to call the mainland to fix it. The teller was very helpful. She noticed that there was a notice on my account but after doing some research realized it was an error on their end and was able to fix it. I was literally in and out in less than 10 minutes. It's a very spacious location, and not very busy given the went on a Friday afternoon. read more

AVOID like the plague PENFED they are one of the most backward credit unions in the country. Bank transfers take 48-72hrs They claim they cannot instantly support big banks like Chase, PNC, Schwab They lock up your money the worst day of my life was considering leaving my big banks for this backward credit union. More customer service representatives needed and better management. I went in to make an auto payment on Monday morning. I got there at 0900 when the branch opened and still waited 30 minutes to do a simple transaction. When I voiced my frustrations to management they told me to go to the another branch location (Ft. Worst place to apply for a loan. It had nothing to do with the normal parameters. It had to do with there lethargic way of doing business. As one of there reps said they follow there Standard operating procedures. Is it typical to take over three weeks to get a final approval? Let's put this into perspective. After getting Exhausted for them asking for the same paperwork over and over and over again I said "enough is enough". Applied at another credit union and within seconds had a final ok. Never asked for the paperwork PenFed asked for. Why you ask because they already had it when membership was established. Can you imagine how ridiculous it was for the 1st credit union asking for proof of residency? This is hilarious as they hold our mortgage. The sheer incompetence of not even looking at the credit report that shows this. Needless to say after writing the CEO's office about this miserable experience I have someone reach out not the next day but almost a week later stating he had no control in correcting or attempting to correct this miserable experience. Now that is what I call "great customer service." Recapping I cannot say this experience will happen to you because it may or may not but it did happen to us. You just can't make this up. read more

My recommendation is use ANY credit union other than Penfed. They have got to be one of the most insane companies I have ever tried to deal with. I have a 770-ish FICO and make $125k+ per year and couldn't get a $20k personal loan from them. Why? because they say some info didn't seem to match. Would they let me talk to someone about it? NO! You can't get past the customer service rep who answers the phone and says they can't do anything. Another indication of a company who doesn't care about customer service? Notice that the only company responses to these reviews are to the ones they like, not the critical ones. read more

A really incompetent credit union. I was trying to open a new savings account but got denied because i dont even have a credit score. So an employee tells me i need to submit my social security card and government id. I submit those and get denied again. So i ask again. Another employee tells me i need a credit score for a simple damn savings account. Why wouldnt the first employee tell me that to begin with instead of wasting my time. Also why do i need a credit score for a goddamn SAVINGS account. read more

My car has been stolen since May of 2022 and for some reason PenFed employees don't communicate information that's necessary for processing. So I keep receiving notifications in the mail that I will be charged insurance if I do not provide proof. I provided everything they needed and have confirmations of this. I just got a notice saying they went ahead and added $3k or so to my loan because I "failed to provide the insurance" . This is such a run around.! I'm so tired of calling about the same issue and receiving mail about the same issue!!!! Like I said the car was stolen in MAY. It's late October. Get with it PenFed!... oh and the last person I spoke to was the worst representative I've ever spoken to. Very rude and disrespectful. read more

Joanne really came through for me as a Notary. I was trying to close on my house and she took me in when my primary bank turned me away. Joanne helped me through the long process of signing all my documents even when I did not have an appointment. Very nice and I am extremely thankful for her services. read more

Worst experience ever, sad....if I could give them a negative 5 star, I would. I agreed to co-sign for an individual and for some reason I ended up as the primary. I didn't find out until they were late on a payment, and got called by their office. I told PenFed that there must have been a mistake, and that I was the co-signer and not the primary of this account, they said I signed as the primary. I didn't sign anything and if there was a signature, it was fraudulently done. Tried to be patient and explain their error and get it corrected, but was told me by the Branch Manager it was out of their hands. Bottom line... I did not sign any documents nor was ever told to come down to the branch and sign any document nor received any copies of the document that I was so called have signed, and on top of that a check was issued, and it was not to me. This is very careless, reckless, unacceptable, and unprofessional. Seeking legal action with this branch, Branch Manger and whoever else was involved in processing though this application for negligence, and if they want to take it to the next level, I'll sue them for fraud, harassment, and distress. A note... I also found out by an employee of PenFed that this happens quite often. Applicants beware what you are getting into. I really didn't want to post this, but need to let members know to be aware of what can happen if they become a co-signer. Very disappointed read more

This has to be the worst Credit Union on the planet. The only place I have ever heard of that makes you call to make additional principle payments. When my wife tried, they told her she needed to be on the account. Why the heck would this be.......... if someone other than myself wants to pay my debt........... please let THEM!!!!!! So we go through all the BS to the loan where she can make the payment, do everything they asked. Wife calls today to make additional payment, they tell her she needs power of attorney, WTF Stay away, in fact run from this place!!!!!!!!!! read more

Had to stop in because their website to pay our bill didn't seem to be working properly. As soon as I walked in, I saw the computer and immediately signed in. It is self explanatory, you choose if you need service or teller and put your name. Then just have a seat and wait to be called. It seems a little nicer because who doesn't prefer to sit over standing? It didn't take long to be called and I gave both the credit card and my ID. I told her what I was there for and she pulled up everything for me. Once the transaction was finished I received a receipt with the remaining balance. There is plenty of parking on the side and it is a one way driveway. I didn't need to utilize the parking since I live and work close enough to walk. Their hours are posted, only open Mon-Fri 8:30-4:00. Those are great hours if you work there, but as a customer with crazy hours it was hard to find time to get in there. The workers are all nice and it is very clean, just on the small side. We only use it because we wanted to get a better credit score so we opened a credit card with them. read more

My husband was a member since 1970 and I became a member also in 1983. We never have a problem with this credit union. I do all of my financial transaction mostly online. Penfed website is very easy to follow and understand. Quite a few people are complaining regarding the waiting time. It is not the employees fault nor the bank because they do not have an idea how many questions a customer will have. In August 2020, I made a deposit and waited more than 35 minutes because the previous three customers: one was an elderly, one was handicap, and the other was a middle age woman. They asked too many questions and the teller even showed one individual how to do online banking. One elderly woman took her more than 20 minutes while I was waiting. After she finished talking to the teller it took her so long to put her cash into her purse. There were only two tellers that were available to serve us during my visit. I can sympathized with other individuals especially during this pandemic. I myself do not like to wait that long, but it is necessary to be patient and understanding with other people. These two wonderful tellers (ladies) were phenomenal, very friendly, and helpful. The facility is always clean and tidy. read more

I have used Pentagon Federal Credit Union as my primary bank for at least the last 20 years. What I like most about them is their easy to use website. I am able to easily view my checking account, savings account, and credit cards using their website. It's easy to pay bills and transfer money from one account to another. There ATM network is significant. I'm able to use the ATM's from many other banks without a fee. So it's easy to access my money at any time no matter where I maybe. Although I primarily use the online system and ATM network for my banking needs, the staff at the branches have always been helpful and courteous whenever I've needed to visit a branch. Paid off my car loan in May 2020 it is currently April 2021 PenFed still did not send me my car's title and as soon as my car loan was paid PenFed stopped returned my calls which is bullshit as PenFed would call me literally EVERY DAY to "remind" me of that months payment despite me having auto pay setup at the time. read more

I love penfed - If you have good credit they have very competitive interest rates. The only minor inconvenient issue is that you can't actually contact your local penfed "brick & mortars" by phone; but the people at the main call center who answer the phone lines are super helpful and knowledgeable so they get everything worked out quickly. They are my favorite bank to deal with. This particular in-person location is quaint but easy to access, and the workers are friendly. read more

Terrible ! There is one teller today which most times there are 2 which is not enough . One teller 8 people waiting and in slow motion . It's never easy banking here ever and the bank is a remodeled and pretty large for nothing .one customer is slapping her 2 young children and yelling at them while there screaming there heads off , one guy is talking to himself , a lady yelling swear words to herself and a homeless man that's what in here .
