This is the kind of bookstore I really respect. It's straightforward, packed with interesting…read morebooks, and run by someone who clearly cares about what they do. It has a comfortable, no-pressure vibe and offers a great mix of new and used titles. I ended up walking out with a big stack for my personal collection. The used section in the back is especially worth checking out, with hardcovers priced at two dollars and paperbacks at just one dollar. The owner is a solid guy. Very helpful and happy to special order anything you might be looking for. That kind of service is hard to come by these days and really makes a difference. Parking is on the street, but I had no problem finding a spot. The store's in a walkable area surrounded by local cafes, antique shops, and restaurants. You're also just a short stroll from the coastline and the pier, which makes this an even better stop if you're looking to spend a laid-back day in town. I really enjoy places like this. It's the kind of bookstore that feels real and personal, and I will definitely be coming back whenever I'm in the area.

Fun selection of greeting cards, small selection of tote bags, stickers and other fun things (mugs, bookmarks, etc.) Prices seemed normal (so maybe a little higher than Amazon, etc.) for an independent book store but probably comparable to a large bookstore chain.

The staff is always patient and helpful, as are the baristas in the cafe. In particular, there is a middle aged woman who is usually on the second floor and has wonderful customer experience skills. She always checks in on visitors and gives great recommendations or updates on new display organization. This location has something for everyone. I can almost always find what I am looking for and more when I visit. I get great deals as a member, it's definitely worth the investment if you read often.

Olive oil spelt cake: It reminds me of pound cake. Not that sweet except the frosting/icing. It was okay but as someone who's not as fond of that kind of cakey texture, I'd probably not get it again. They have a really lovely garden and patio in the back. There is also a bathroom. The acoustics and set up for events isn't great, though. It was hard for me to concentrate on the speaker for the book talk since you can hear the noises from the cafe behind and also the sounds of other store customers all around you. One of my favorite Sunday rituals: browsing until I find something unexpected, and then heading down Clement for dim sum, light thrifting, maybe a little Kamei treasure, a strawberry crepe, and some Asian groceries. A Green Apple visit makes the outing complete. San Francisco still has a few good remaining bookstores, and the selection hidden in the winding nooks and crannies at Green Apple, keep it near the top of that list.

I was not greeted even at register when I was ready to pay. The lady just charged me. She didn't offer any bag either. It was a little awkward. I love visiting bookstores.
