The owners seem to care about fulfilling there teacher's schedule more than the students individual growth. As there are big gaps between teachers quality as well. Some are ok some are horrible. It depends on your luck. Of course they would tell you these teacher is specially selected for you base on your kid's whatever but in reality. The owners seem is the best teacher but they pick their student very selectively. Only the best will get into their schedule. Other's they don't care. I would never send my kid to music schools like that again. Will always get the individual teacher in the future. Amanda, My son got pass the ABRSM with distinction is mostly because of his hard-work. I want to add that your school and the teacher didn't informed us there will be a fourth song that needed to play during exam until a week before the actual exam. That being said. This shows how inexperience the teacher is and your school didn't bother to let us know as we have plan this months prior. My son only had a week to practice a bring new song before the exam and that really stress out the entire family and fortunately our son pulled it off. Again. All you care is fulfilling your teacher's schedule over the independent students growth as you have many students with many teachers who sometimes comes and go fairly quickly. I am not saying you don't care about your students but we feel we didn't get enough attention as we feel independent teacher would be a much better choice for parents who wants more growth for their kids in time.

Not driving to Santa Clara for private lessons with our teacher on weekdays is awesome. Both our sons have been taking weekly lessons since a young age and love coming for them. They are in book 6 and 9 now and progressing well. The teachers are dedicated, active classical guitar professionals themselves and great role models in the musical journeys of their students. Kids have developed personal relationships with their teachers over the years. Santa Clara location hosts group lessons, ensembles or recitals on weekends for students of both locations. I do recommend these for the all-around musical development of the kids and it encourages socializing with peers. Overall, kudos and high recommendation for California Conservatory of Guitar program if your son or daughter is interested in classical guitar. Learning any musical instrument is not easy so picking good teachers for the journey is important along with parental support and commitment.

I have four children and they all take lessons from scherzo -- all different teachers as well. I think through the years we've take. Lessons from 7-8 of the teachers and every single o e has been top caliber. I k ow that Aurelio actually asks new teachers to do trial classes with students so he can see the type of teaching style they provide -- very thorough! All four of my children ah e different personalities as well -- my daughter is extremely focused while my two sons are a bit more distracted -- the teachers have handled all our personality types really well! As for the books that scherzo uses, I am 100% in favor of them (BTW Aurelio does NOT charge way above market rate for them!!). These books he uses have a wide array of styles: classical, jazz, blues, contemporary, etc. these books provide structure and a road to bettering skill level for kids. Now for my own personal experience -- I am a true believer that providing on-depth music education to children, will make them better juman beings. Scherzo has provided a home away from home to our family. Even while lock-down was happening, remote lessons kept a grounding for my kids. Going through music lessons allows the parents to also be Edit aged themselves and learn so much -- it provides bonding time with your child -- you should see the pride in my kids' eyes when they can go up to any piano any where and just start playing, it's fabulous! My two eldest have studied with Aurelio for from the beginning and my third kid has been taking from Miss June for the last couple of years. Both yea hers have been supportive, encouraging and so pleasant to be around -- plus both are super talented in their craft :-). Ok this is long enough but I'll leave you with this -- scherzo has my family's full vote on a wonderful experience from the get go -- you won't be disappointed!!

I had a little doubt at the beginning because it's very different from other group music class in the nearby that requires parent involvement and stay in the class. But my child really loves his teacher and songs, so I signed him up after the trial lesson. I think my son can tell (with his child instinct) this class will just have so much fun so he's not willing to go other places. It turns out my boy, who doesn't usually talk a lot, really blends in and participates in the music lesson playing rhythm, learning notes and singing songs, and talking and expressing himself a lot too!! He loves to go there every week. He really learns music theory in such 45-minute lesson. The class is not randomly singing songs or dancing around but is well-structured. I am also impressed with the materials prepared by Scherzo Music Studio which I can use to reinforce my child at home. It's VERY useful and can't be bought outside (coz the Studio made it themselves!!!). This class far far exeeds my expectation as I never expect my 4-year-old can learn AND remember quarter note is 1 beat, half note is 2 beat, and half note with a dot is 3 beat. He recognizes Treble and Bass Clef, and can read notes.... and is now playing Christmas songs (just practicing)... I've transitioned my child to a combo group + private lesson. He's ready for private piano lesson after just 8-class of music discovery group but I do not want to take away his fun from the group class because he can sing along and enjoy music with his little friends in the group. I am very thankful for teacher Abigail and teacher Aurelio making this class so much fun. My 4 -year-old now sits at the piano to practice on his own (and plays for his grandma) when I am outside at work. He can now play Piano Adventure B and even C before he turns to 4 and half. THANK YOU!! THE MUSIC DISCOVERY CLASS IS WAY TOO AWESOME!!!

Angeline has a rare ability to meet students exactly where they are. She never made me feel like a novelty or an exception, just a student with work to do and the capacity to do it. Her instruction is structured and clear, with genuine attention to technique, but she also knows when to slow down and rebuild a foundation rather than just push forward. What I didn't expect was how encouraged I'd feel. Adult learners carry a different kind of self-consciousness, and Angeline seems to understand that without it ever needing to be said. Progress felt real and earned, not artificially inflated. Waiting for my lessons, I've also watched her work with younger students. She's patient, engaging, and clearly knows how to hold a kid's attention without losing the substance of the instruction. She's genuinely good with all ages. She also holds recitals for her students, which I think says a lot about how seriously she takes their development. I'm not there yet, but making it onto that stage one day is something I'm actually working toward now, and that's not something I would have said before studying with her. If you're on the fence about picking up the violin, whether you're an adult who thinks it's too late or a parent looking for the right fit for your kid, Angeline is the answer. Hands down the best teacher you'll find.

From the beginning, Angeline places a strong emphasis on building a great technical foundation, especially developing a beautiful and controlled bow hand. These are the kinds of skills that set her students apart and elevate their playing to a higher level. Angeline holds her students to very high standards, but she does so with care, intention, and a deep commitment to each child's growth. In fact, my daughter had to relearn how to bow for almost a year; however, the time and effort was worth it. Angeline knows exactly how to challenge her students to reach their fullest potential while providing the structure, clarity, and encouragement they need to succeed. The progress and growth we've seen in our daughter the past two years has been remarkable. She has grown not only in technical ability and tone, but also in confidence, discipline, and musical expression. It's clear that Angeline's thoughtful, detail-oriented approach brings out the best in her students. If you're looking for a teacher who is deeply committed to excellence, meticulous, and genuinely brings out the best in her students, we couldn't recommend Angeline more.
