I've been playing guitar since I was 12 years old and have always changed the guitar strings myself, though admittedly, I don't re-string them the correct way. I play live shows with my band and in 2023/2024 I broke my strings onstage during two or three shows which is embarrassing! So late last year I decided to bring my guitars to Vibo to have them re-stringed the right way. I called Vibo and Kris answered, he told me to bring my two guitars and that he would be able to re-string them. Kris ended up getting them done the same day, super fast! When i got to the store he was very knowledgeable and professional, he definitely answered all of the questions I had regarding my guitars. I was happy as my guitars sounded brand new. During the summer this year I needed to re-string one of my guitars as I was about to head to the studio to record so i called Vibo. Kris took the call and he changed my strings again. He did an excellent job and was quick! I feel confident leaving my guitars for any work they require. I know my guitars are in good hands with Kris at Vibo! read more

My experience at Vibo has been amazing. I've taken violin classes with a few teachers here over the years, they are all accomplished musicians who are lovely and dedicated. Learning violin as an adult can be challenging and daunting at times, my long time teacher Johanna is always encouraging and patient with me and made it a fun and enjoyable experience for me. The classrooms are spacious and there is a nice venue for recitals and concerts. Victor has a built a nice community around Vibo, everyone is like a family and they participate in and organize a lot of community music events which give the students plenty of opportunities to perform. I played in their chamber ensemble and the family orchestra last year, it was a really great experience and lots of fun playing music with other students. The staff is very friendly and organized and they are very accommodating with any requests. Parking is easy to find, there is street parking and a parking lot just behind the store. Highly recommend anyone who are looking to take music lessons to drop by and take a trial class. read more

This school is a scam, please do not be the next victim. We enrolled our daughter for the piano class on saturday 3pm for $160. A week later, they told us the class is full and have to move our daughter to the evening class at 5pm. We could not make it at 5pm so we ask for a refund. We waited 2 months, still no refund. We went back to the school physically and they told us we have to speak with the director Victor Lin, but he isn't at the office. We got his cellphone number, tried calling him over 20 times and he never picked up his phone and his voice mail is full. It's been 2 months, still no refund. read more

I would not recommend this place at all. The rooms are too small they don't allow parents to see how the kids are performing. I did not like this and found another teacher. As a parent I would like to see what my son is doing. I asked them to refund my money operator at the phone told me She can't refund the money but she will call me back after consulting the director before the next class but nobody called me. My 7 year old started piano lessons 3-4 months ago. After the first 3 or 4 lessons we decided to continue because he seemed to like it. Since then, we've had to wait because the teacher was late, have had substitutes because the teacher never showed( the subs sometimes didn't know they were supposed to fill in) and today the teacher did t even show up at all. This review has nothing to do with the music teachers, they all receive flying colors in my book. My daughter has been coming here for one year now and loves it. This review is for upper management, to do something about the lady at the front desk. When I walk into a business, and the person in front desk doesn't even acknowledge your presence, I give them the benefit of the doubt and think 'maybe they're just having an off day.' However, when I come every Monday, and I still get no gesture of anything, something is wrong. Besides these incidents, she is very unprofessional. Whenever I approach her for purchases, she decides to not even look at me, instead, just takes the payment and goes on. I have also asked her to add more volume to the tv. Instead of just nodding or doing it, she puts her finger up without taking her eyes off the screen and says, "hold on." I am not one to complain over small issues, but get yourself a better person to represent VIBO. This place has so much potential. As a valued customer that cares greatly about feeling comfortable, teach the woman at the front desk to work better at her customer service skills. read more

For over a decade my son has been taking music lessons from Vibo Music. He started with vocal lessons, moved on to piano and then to violin/viola. He later joined up with an ensemble and a string orchestra at Vibo as well. In the summers my son would take part in the Vibo music camps and enjoy meeting new friends and learning to play new instruments. Through it all, he had excellent teachers who truly developed his musical talents. I can't say enough about the difference that Vibo made in his life. Not only does Vibo encourage the kids to perform live shows, the school also helps the process by hosting live local events, including the annual Battle of the Bands where the top contenders get to "battle" it out at the iconic Hard Rock Cafe in SF. You know the feeling when you just want to do something just for the heck of it? Do you have something that you really want to try, even if it's completely out of character? A couple years ago I decided I wanted to try viola. I don't have any musical background, nor the talent. I can't even read notes. But what the heck. In my thirties, anything I do counts as enrichment in my life, yes? I just made that up. Anyhoo, I bought the viola a couple years ago from ebay ($40 + $20 shipping, if you're wondering). Not a big investment, but I couldn't find an affordable way to learn. Most private teachers are super expensive. Until I found Vibo. It is at the perfect location in downtown San Bruno. My initial contact was via email with Victor, the director. He was helpful in answering my questions. However, once I expressed my intention to sign up, he became less responsive and relegated all administrative stuff to the front desk person, whose name I just can't remember. Which is fine, he's probably busy running a school and all. I started my one-hour per week lessons in August. The lessons cost $45/lesson and you pay at the front desk before the beginning of each month. Very informal. The only record that you've paid is the stub from the credit card machine, and I guess they just write it down in a book. No computer system whatsoever. So I can see why if one day they will have some trouble with bookkeeping. While I liked my main instructors, Vibo's make-up lesson system sucks. Within 3 months of my lesson, I've learned from 4 different people, each with his/her own style. Here's why: My first instructor was cool. She's a gamer, so I was ecstatic when she said she could teach me some video game music. One day she got sick, so Victor replaced her that day. So naturally, the lesson is completely different from usual. Then she got another full time job elsewhere, so I was gonna get assigned another teacher, who's an actual violist, not a violinist-turned-violist. Then I had to leave the country for 2 weeks, which meant missed lessons. When I came back, I asked if I could just skip them and use my payment towards next month's lessons. The front desk chick said "no, you have to take make-up lessons". I didn't want to argue, so I said fine. The make up lessons would be on a different day and time than my usual. I thought it would be fine if the make-ups were taught by my usual teacher, but nope, they're taught by a completely new teacher. So, the bottom line is, it doesn't matter if my lessons aren't consistent. It doesn't matter if it inconveniences me to take make-up lessons on the days that are out of my usual schedule. It doesn't matter if the make-up lessons aren't really adding to my learning. It doesn't matter if I'm sick, or if I have to be somewhere else. I still have to pay the full month's lesson. That's pretty much my only gripe about Vibo. I took drumming lesson at VIBO San Bruno Andrew is a good teacher. He is my first drum teacher so I can not compare him to other teacher. I learned things I would never learn just from watching drum lessons online and DVD alone. My overall drumming technique and awareness improved. BUT... Two of my lessons (first and last) were wasted because Andrew was absent twice. I had a substitute teacher. He is nice and decent drummer. But he has little experience in teaching students. The lesson was unorganized. I learned only about 5% of what I was suppose to learn. That is $50.00 x 2 wasted. I am serious about learning and I value time and money. Very disappointing. The drum set sucks. I just played it anyways and said to my self "I should play this shitty drums, so when I play good drums I will appreciate. And I will adapt in playing different kind of drum set." They have new "No make up policy, no exceptions" So make sure you or your kid do not get sick and no emergency (but teachers CAN be absent). read more

One of the best music school in the bay! We've tried other music schools around the area but nothing like ViBO. First let me start with my daughter's teacher Anne Marie. She has been my daughters vocal/piano teacher for about 3 years and she's taught her a lot! My daughter loves her. I love how they always have recitals and shows to showcase their amazing students. Some music school we've tried does not offer this. My daughter is also in their Rock Band and she loves her teacher Tim. This class taught her how to interact and socialize with other kids. The cost for lessons are pretty reasonable too. The owners are very down to earth and give you a "family" feel. Everyone is like family here. Every time I walk in I am treated as part of the ViBO family. Love this place and I highly recommend it to everyone. I have a 1 year old and I can't wait to enroll her! read more

I love Vibo Music School because both my kids have great times there. Vibo provides all kinds of instruments lessons in group & private, like drums, woodwinds, piano, guitar, violin... you name it. My children have been taking music lessons at Vibo music school for over 2 years, in the areas of Guitar, Piano and Vocal. During this period of time, there has been tremendous progress made on my children's music skill and competency level; the learning experience so far has been very successful. This business is relatively new and located on San Mateo Avenue. Perfect to drop the kid off for his music and have a cup of coffee across the street. Easy parking and there's free parking in the back. Friendly staff and they love their music and to teach students to love it also. I love how accommodating they are with makeup classes. There are not too many schools that have such a flexible schedule as Vibo if your child can't make their lesson. Of course let them know as soon as possible. Victor, the director, is good in responding to his emails. So communications through email works well for me when I have to adjust my child's schedule changes. Vibo offers several recitals a year so your child will have a chance to learn to perform in front of an audience. Vibo offers a family weekend camp once a year. I went last summer and it was a blast. To be able to spend time with my kids without TV and to learn several different musical instruments was great. By getting a taste of how to play the instruments allows me to decide what I would really like to learn more of in the future. read more

People are really nice over there. . . .but they all LACK organization. I was told that the class is on Saturday 2-3PM by the director at VIBO. Later, on my class day, the teacher told me it's actually 1-2PM. . . .totally made me miss my class. No emails or alerts of the class schedule. Communication is poor! I learned something BUT could have done more if the teacher would focus more and less joking around. He is good but he jokes too much. There registering website SUCKS! All are out-dated. I've mentioned to the director in person and over the phone on this, but nothing was done even AFTER I am in the sessions already. read more

My daughter 4 y/o is taking violin lesson here for 3 months now and she learned so fast and enjoy every session. Milda her teacher is Wonderful she knows how to deal with younger age and she knows how to make the environment fun for my daughter she is also very patient and giving my daughter compliments a lot of times and that keeps her motivated.. My son started taking drum lessons with Amanda about two months before he turned 4. Initially when I emailed ViBo inquiring about the drum lessons with Brett, who was highly recommended by a friend of mine, he told us that he felt my son was too young to begin drum lessons since kids usually start drums around the age of 8. However, I asked them to give us a sample lesson anyway because I felt that my son had a real niche with beats and drums--he taught himself how to play by watching YouTube videos since he was 2. ViBo agreed but instead of Brett, they assigned Amanda to instruct my son and it was pretty much love at first sight. I highly recommend Amanda for younger students because she seems to be able to really connect with them. Sensitive toddlers like my son find it uncomfortable to sit in close quarters with adults they barely know but he took to Amanda almost immediately. Even though he's 4 now, almost 5, his language skills are still not up to par. Yet, Amanda is able to communicate with him and engage him consistently. After almost a year now, my son still looks forward to his weekly lessons. Since he's still so young, Amanda does not teach him in the traditional methods one would with an older student. She basically allows him to experiment during the lesson and plays by ear, inserting relevant mini-lessons of new techniques and methods. From my understanding, he won't begin learning how to read music until he reaches grade school. The tuition we pay is reasonable for the amount of care and attention Amanda gives during every lesson. $30 per lesson; $1 per minute and it's worth every penny. The drum lessons bring him much joy and enrichment. I always see him coming home inspired to try out his new learned techniques. Every now and then, your child will have a substitute teacher instructor which I was not comfortable with initially. We had one bad experience very early on but since then, we haven't encountered any issues. My son recently had the chance to play with a substitute named Austin, who I found also worked great with very young kids. My son was very comfortable with him and looked like he had a lot of fun learning some new techniques with him as well. The only complaint/suggestion I have is that the music instructors should have some kind of shared database in which they record and track the progress and lessons of students. That way, when substitutes are needed to be used, they can at least know where the students stand. I believe that would be really helpful especially if there are special cases like my son, who wouldn't know how to communicate with the substitute what he's been learning or that he's not used to the normal method of teaching. read more

My children had attended Camp Allegro at Vibo San Bruno for four years and it's their favorite summer camp. They absolutely love it. They get to try many instruments, and spend the day learning how to play them. They learn how to make music, play as a group, write lyrics, and even compose music. At the end of the session, which is one week for beginners or two weeks for advanced, they perform in front of the parents and it's really amazing how much they learn in such a short time. The teachers are always awesome, very talented, and they inspire my kids to keep learning and enjoying music. In Camp Allegro my kids have learned about Mozart, The Beatles, The Cure, Queen, to name a few, and have been introduced to music from all over the world. I highly recommend it. read more

Every interaction I've had they either aren't polite or are kind of clueless and unhelpful. More than once they've moved my kids lesson times around with only a couple days notice and I've changed my schedule to accommodate them, but the one time I asked to switch times they say they can't do that and "no make-ups". $30 lost. read more

Poor service. All they care is your $$$$. Teachers there get 3 stars rather than 2 for the school. They give you a hard time for arranging a make up class and they will still charge you for the lesson when you have to skip the private lesson even if you notify them months in advance. The teachers are good, but they look at the clock every 5 minutes. And unfortunately, due to various reason, my daughter has been put on different substitutes half the time there in the past 8 months. read more

My kids grow up with ViBO Music Center. They are consistent in guaranteeing weekly lessons. Mr. Clark is friendly and strict with the techniques at the same time. As time goes by, my kids and Mr. Clark grow a sense of humor between them, it is so cute to see when I sit in during their lessons. Mr. Clark also prepares my children's performance opportunity which i think is priceless. In the summer months, we will have to fill out a leave of absence form for the date we will be absent so that our lessons will not need to be charged. My kids also enjoy their summer camp, they love the variety of music classes like flute, singing, violin, and guitar. In the last day of the camp, the parents are invited to see their end of the camp performance. I was blown away by the quality that was produced in a week of learning. I especially enjoying seeing their rock band and ensembles performance. Overall, I think ViBO is a great music school for children to learn and appreciate music. read more
