The bowling alley in Penndell, Pa needs an update. To begin, I've never been here and all I knew about this place is that is was small and has very-serious don't mess with leagues! I went for a birthday party, themed "midnight bowling" that started at 10 pm. So it's not really midnight bowling, it's more like get your butt out by midnight. I think only difference between the all day regular bowling was that they turned most of the light out so it's felt like night. I had fun but I can't bowl its not my forte. I got my shoes that I needed to pay at the end of night, for then the ball which is free but I had hard time finding a ball light enough so I settled on a 9 ball and next thing I know, I'm watching my ball go into gutter, I'm thinking, this is just a party and we are all having fun so let's put up bumpers for my lane and, boy did I get flack, so what, it's just a game, right? Ordered a white Russian and later had their Cheese Fries which were very good for a bowling alley. I think this place is great for small parties or just with friends. The atmosphere was not anything I can explain, needs update. The staff were great and helped us when needed. Kid friendly of course, wheelchair accessible to get in the door, to bar, & restrooms but not to get to the lanes to bowl. There are steps, and the person in wheel chair would need to be lifted or helped out of the chair, but not impossible. It's worth a shot to bring family or friends. It was fun, but like I stated earlier, we were out the door a little after midnight for the midnight bowling! They only have this event on Friday & Saturdays. read more

Me and my friends came in and paid a flat fee for three games or as it was explained. I fifth person came in for the 2nd game. When it came to the third game we got cut off mid game and was told we had to pay for 2 more games to finish our third game. This place scammed us out of our third game that we already paid for. We bought drinks and tipped the bar despite their disgusting health review. We of course bought bottled drinks because they found mold in the dispensers and magets in the liquor. This place is still gross and an absolute scam to go to. Penndel and the surrounding areas will be a better place when they shut their doors for good. read more

Lanes are overall pretty well kept. Rick at the pro shop was helpful when I asked about joining a league (which he did help me join). 24 lanes. Solid customer service. Only problem is that the bar smells like smoke and can leak into the bowling alley. Overall a very nice place to bowl and hang out with friends! read more

Stopped in last week. Had a great time bowling with my daughter! The owners probably won't appreciate this but I like that this place has an divey feel. It's definitely been refurbed here and there, but at the same time it's not too polished and not too gimmicky, which is definitely a good thing. Nothing sickens me more than bowling at a place that feels like a third rate teen disco from 1987. We bowled and bowled down bowled and it cost less than $10 for the 2 of us. Great value. The atmosphere was pretty relaxed and the staff was helpful with every silly question I had (e.g. I wore flip flops, where do I get socks)? They also gladly helped us multiple times with stuck balls on the lane, when my kid didn't throw it hard enough. Each time we got service with a smile. Love this place. Already planning to take 2 of my kids back tomorrow. read more

The other day, I went to watch my grandkids bowl. My granddaughter bowled a strike, but the computer only scored her 8 pins and the lane wouldn't reset. So we got the guy who works there and he went in the back and got her ball returned, but left 2 pins. I said to him That's wrong. She bowled a strike and it only gave her 8. He said well if she gets the other two, it's the same thing. I said an 8 and a 2 is NOT the same as a strike. He said in a very sarcastic tone well I can change it if that would make you happy. My 77-year-old dad who I was visiting for the holidays,and I were excited to go bowling on the morning of Friday, December 27. We both take bowling seriously and wanted to find a center that didn't have cosmic bowling in the morning that we could bowl at and practice. Upon doing a web search, we came upon a new bowling center we had not been at before. When we saw on their website Penndel bowling center opened at 9 AM, we were excited, both because we found a place to practice, and also because the prices were good: For him as a senior it is 3.50 a game, and for me it is 4.50 a game. We drove 40 minutes there one way, and when we got there, the doors were open. However, no one was at the front desk. We heard voices in the back, and tapped on the office door and we were greeted by a woman who worked there. She then told us that they weren't opening until noon. We told her that the website said they opened at 9 AM, and that we drove 40 minutes one way just to get there. Rather than apologizing, she seemed annoyed that we were there, and told us that we should've noticed the hours that were written outside the door on a handwritten piece of paper. She said the person who was supposed to update the website didn't do so, and refused to have any empathy or take any responsibility for the error and the inconvenience of our gas and time. Needless to say, both my dad and I were very disappointed and frustrated. Because of how we were treated, we are not sure we are ever going to go back. read more

Poor customer service and equipment. Major repairs need to be made for guest satisfaction. Unable to complete game in a timely fashion due to broken ball return; but if your happy waiting for a staff member to manually retrieve ball after each frame then this is the place for you. ***OWNER IS AWFUL*** My family has been participating in the Penndel Bowling center bowling league since my first son was four years old. He has been on the bumpers team four almost four years. We love Coach Rick. We go every week as a family and always purchase their food for dinner since the league starts at 6:15 in the summer. The entire summer we ordered and waited over an hour to get French fries and chicken tenders (1 order). Some nights were told to wait 20 minutes until we can order. The orders come out close to time of leaving the ally. Its sad but I am running from work to bowling. This is the only sport my son plays and enjoys. Tonight I told my husband I am going to grab McDonalds (first time ever bringing food in the center). My kids are 5 and 7 and one is on the spectrum so I wanted to ensure we had dinner on time so our night would be easy. A man (WHO IS THE OWNER I FOUND OUT - NEVER SEEN HIM IN 4 YEARS) said WHO BROUGHT THE MCDONALDS. I said I did and explained we come here weekly and always order food but it takes over an hour. He said you cant have that. Ok - I get it but can I explain why I brought the food. First off, if he was the owner and heard the complaint we wait over an hour weekly you would than think he would say I apologize for that how can I make this better or can I offer you a coupon for a dinner on us since you had such a bad experience all summer...NO - HE EMBARASSED ME AND MY WHOLE FAMILY BUT RUDELY SPEAKING TO US. This is supposed to be a fun family activity and hey Mr. I have been having birthday parties, graduation parties, family nights there for years. After this season we may never go back. My kids were so upset my husband brought my son who is autistic outside in the rain to eat his very few chicken nuggets. They should be ashamed of themselves and I hope the OWNER is reading this. I've passed this bowling center numerous times and it certainly doesn't look like anything wonderful from the outside, which basically sits right next to the street, but once inside, it's a totally different scene! And I guess they have to be since the huge Brunswick Lanes has opened not too far away. I actually liked this bowling alley a little bit more than I do the Brunswick, first off it's smaller with 24 new synthetic lanes, which are so cool during "moonlite rock-N-bowl", the lanes have a glowing pattern, it's supposed to be the latest in bowling lane technology. Their prices are reasonable and you can choose to pay a discounted price hourly for up to six bowlers or per person per game and on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, during certain hours games and shoe rentals are one buck each! On Saturday and Sunday evenings they have family specials, like "pizza, pins and pop" all included in one package, which includes free shoe rental, two hours of bowling a pitcher of soda and you guessed it, a large pizza, bumper bowling is available for the kiddies. I like that they have automatic scoring, less work for the brain and no cheating on the numbers, ha. Their prices for birthday parties is very reasonable, but please note they do not accept credit or debit cards ever, although they do have an ATM inside. I bowl a mean curve ball and how do I straighten that out a bit, you ask? They have a really cool bar and lounge serving beer, wine and mixed drinks, yay and their food, for bowling alley grub is actually quite good. They also have Buck's County's "best" pro shop inside and PBA champion Joe Paluszek runs it and offers bowling lessons, which I should really take him up on some day. Man, it's clearly been a while since I've been bowling. We showed up around 7:30 pm on a Wednesday night to bowl. It was packed, and all the lanes were in use. I had no idea there would be so many people, but there were several leagues there practicing. We came back around 9pm for $1 bowling, and we timed it perfectly. All the teams were heading out as we were walking in. Decent venue - a little dated, but that's part of the charm. The prices here are better than any of the nearby competitors, and they have coupons on their website. We had a blast here. The girl working the cash register was super friendly. I walked in at 4:58 and asked how much is it to bowl for an hour vs bowling per game and the GM answered. I proceeded to bowl when I saw a sign that there is a special including pizza a soda for $8 more than my current rate. I asked the manager why I wasn't informed of the special and she said it's not her job to inform the customers. The sign is posted for all to read. So I told her I did not notice it and asked if I could be upgraded to the special. Her response was that I could not. I asked to speak to the owner and told him I was a frequent visitor and that I thought it would be fair to offer me the special. He didn't seem to care and said there is nothing he would do for me. Terrible customer service. Neither the GM nor the owner would give me their names so that I can address them properly. I would not support them and suggest going to any other bowing alley in the area. They lost my business over a stupid pizza and 1 hour of bowling. read more

To begin with, Im no longer a league bowler here. This place's management is terrible. Called in to pre bowl for almost a week straight and got denied because of league which is fine. Today, the night before my league, I called in asking if I was able to pre bowl due to them no longer accepting post bowling and I was told that there are lanes open. 10 Min prior to arriving I made another call to make sure i was still available to pre bowl and was told YES! As I arrived and told that I was there to pre bowl I was DENIED! Was told that I should have already been finished bowling before the league started. I arrived there at 5pm. Very unprofessional for management to give false information as well as give the opportunity to prebowl to working people who pay their hard earned money to bowl there just to be told that there's no time for it. This place is a disappointment with their bad management and horrible lanes. read more

Bad experience. Went bowling with my son and we brought a couple of beers with us. We did NOT know they had a bar. So we were in the 5th frame of our first game and a guy comes out and says "whose beer is this?" We said ours and he said its gotta go. He didn't announce himself just said you can't bring beer in here. The bar is a very small space with zero signage so we would not have brought beer in if we knew it. I tried to explain that we didn't know but he said no excuses. My son got very annoyed and started arguing with the guy. My whole problem was that if he pulled me aside and explained it to me I would have certainly understood and probably would have ordered a couple of beers. The whole thing got out of hand and they kicked us out of an EMPTY bowling alley. Not a good way to handle this which led to a very bad situation. My boys and I had a coupon to buy 2 games and get 2 free, so we bowled 4 games. When we went to pay, it should have cost $24.00 ($4.00 per person per game on a weekday), but the woman charged me $40.00 because the computer said that we played 10 games. She did not seem to understand why the computer said that we played 10 games but wouldn't change it. The bowling was fun, but I would never come back here because of this. What a scam. read more

I am reviewing as a mom who hosted their child's bday party there. First I will say the price for a party is extremely reasonable but you do get what you pay for. I have had parties at Brunswick Zone for my kid and that place is definitely kid oriented this place lets just say is what it is. It is dated and looks like it hasn't been updated since the late 80s. But after all you are there to bowl so who cares right. The kids definitely had fun bowling. The party came with a pizza for each lane paid for. The pizza isn't that great but what kids birthday party venue has great food...none that I can think of. The main reason I like this place is the laid back atmosphere each time I booked a party we were the only party there and one time the only people there so the kids could run around and I wouldn't have to worry about fighting thru crowds to find them. At Brunswick zone I couldn't even hear myself think so I definitely appreciated this atmosphere. They also give each child bowling shoes and the bowling shoes are the like the decor...from the 80s. One con is the fact they do not accept credit cards - it's 2014!!!! They do have a ATM - but again it's 2014, need I say more. They also have a bar which I wanted to sneak away to when hosting a kids party ;) but I refrained. So yes I'd recommend this place if you are throwing an easy kids party, you aren't high maintenance and not into the frills and just want your kid to have fun. read more

I bowled here for years when it was a dump they've redone it it's fairly nicer now. They added a bar so you can't bring your own drinks in anymore which really sucks only real problem I had with the place was the shoe jockey behind the counter was trying to pick up my girlfriend every 10 min. Asking if she needed a ride home when he could clearly see she was with me pretty scumbag move but for bowling it's OK nice to have a bowling alley local kids and seniors seem to love it. read more

Workers were sort of rude. Didn't know their own business rules, how to use coupons, or we were just plain baited in. We do not go bowling all the time so the rules are foreign to us. But we did call ahead. We asked how the coupons worked. We asked about open bowling. We were told one thing then felt like a switcharoo happened after they already had us. Suddenly we were told to hurry up and get off the lanes. So much for the open bowling we were told about. At checkout, the coupons that we were told were good suddenly were not. We were told the bar would be open, it wasn't. Just lots of bait and switch. We are going somewhere else next time. read more

Please dont waste your money here. The lanes and approaches are always dirty. Your bowling equipment comes back to often with chips and dirt on them. The place stinks like cigarette smoke since they now allow it in the bar all the time. Who in there right mind would bring their kids there to inhale second hand smoke?. The scoring system is outdated as well as the lanes and ball returns. The manager is rude and doesn't care how she runs the place. The bartender tells customers he likes when the place is slow. The owner does nothing but chase customers and leagues away which was told to me by people who use to bowl there. He constantly thinks that if you complain about something you are out to get him. Go to bristol Bristol Pike Lanes where the lanes are extremely clean. Where everything from the approaches, equipment, scoring systems and furniture are all updated and well maintained. The pro shop is well stocked and always there to help out the bowlers. Go to a place that actually values its employees and especially its customer. read more

I came here for $1 bowling night, what a great value! While the lanes are older, and there isn't really high-tech stuff, it was still a fun night. $1 bowling was supposed to start at 9, and didn't actually begin till 9:30 which was sort of annoying. The bowling alley is a little dated and takes only cash. I would give three stars for that reason but I have to be fair. The Tuesday and Wednesday $1 deal that they have makes up for it. If you have kids that you're bowling with, you have to decide if you want "bumpers" up or down in the beginning. You can't just have them up for just your little one. The shoes that are rented are clean and newer but the house balls have seen their better days. All in all, I'll give a 4 out of 5 for the deals they have. read more

The only reason I can't give Penndel Bowling a 5 Star review is the Cash only policy in the Bowling Center, Attached Pub, and the Pro Shop. Don't get me wrong I have never had a bad experience here. The bowling alley staff is great, helpful and friendly, the bar staff is quick to fill an order, and Joe in the Pro Shop is a great guy, and very Helpful. But It is 2016, it is long past time that I should be able to use Debit or Credit. Start taking plastic and they get 5 stars. read more

Family-friendly alley caters to bowlers, not to pool players, birthday kids, or fooseball machines. Pro shop is the best in the area. Penndel Bowling Center is the best place to go if you want to bowl, and not owe your left kidney when you're done bowling. They have specials like dollar bowling, which your games are $1, starting at 9 on Tuesdays & Wednesday. They also have Moonlight bowling, which you split $30 with 6 people on a Saturday night and there's black lights, disco balls, it's dark, and you bowl for two hours! They staff is so friendly and personable as well! read more

I've bowled at PBC for well over 2 years now and have seen a steady decline in customer satisfaction. The approaches were replaced last year... Only to be thoroughly inconsistent night to night. The lanes were replaced, and a new oil machine purchased... But to my constant dismay, the open bowling oil pattern remains the best pattern of any given night. The carpets are as old as the building itself and their age shows thru. Also, there is a strict no outside food and drink policy... Who does that anymore?? On top of the strict policy, the bar/eatery at this establishment is open a whopping 4-5 hours a day with fairly overpriced food. So basically the owner won't allow outside food, so you can buy items from his highly overpriced vending machines. You'll pay those investments off someday... In the meantime, I won't be visiting your establishment any time soon, and I urge you all to stay away as well. read more
