This is a very nice Inn, located in one of my favorite cities. A Victorian style built in the late 1800s, the Inn is nicely decorated. The inside dining area is small, holding about 5 two tops. Additional dining is available on the main, outside patio. The Inn offers a wine and cheese service from 4-5 pm daily. We did not take advantage of this offer, but I am sure that it is very nice. The rooms are situated inside the main building and in a small building or two adjacent to the main patio. I believe that all rooms have a balcony. We stayed in Catherine's Bedchamber, which is located on the second floor in the main building and was very nice. It offers a king size bed and a jacuzzi tub-shower. The room is pretty small, but comfortable enough. Our patio was large and offered a swing, a comfortable chair, as well as a small table and two chairs. However, it is not completely private as guests in the suite above pass through taking the stairs to their room. Also, the patio for the guests room adjacent to ours was situated outside our suite windows. Even respectful guests, holding relatively quiet conversations can be heard from our bed. For this reason, I would prefer to stay in a different room. The toiletries were sparse, which is rare for most Inns and B&Bs. The complimentary breakfast was very good. (French Toast one morning and Eggs Benedict the other). There appeared to be no fresh decaf coffee available, which is a little surprising given Inns tend to attract older patrons, many of whom are supposed to avoid caffeine. Service was mixed. Richard (the owner/manager) is awesome. He is friendly, personable and attentive. He makes his guests feel appreciated and right at home. The young woman who handed breakfast service was also excellent. However, our chamber service was not up to par, especially for an Inn that generally sets a high standard for itself. After our room was serviced we noticed that the glasses that we used to drink some wine were left untouched and remained dirty. Also, the tiny shampoo bottles that we used were not replaced. Basically, the room service amounted to making the bed. None of the shortfalls that we noted were significant and I certainly would recommend the Inn. However, with some attention to details and with some enhancements, the Inn would easily qualify for a 5 star rating.

I love B&B's, and this is close to that, but on a larger scale. My husband had surprised me with a trip to St. Augustine and chose this Inn for its quaintness, the fact that the rooms had outside seating, and it's close proximity to all the wonderful places we would visit. We were greeted by Richard who explained the aspects of the Inn, and showed us to our room, The Catherine. We had a king size bed, a settee, a small TV, and a whirlpool bath. The room was comfortable and cozy. Our outside area had a small table and chairs, a swing and another chair. The location of the Inn is perfect. We walked everywhere and felt perfectly comfortable and safe. Breakfast both days we were there was good. French toast one day and eggs Benedict another. If I had one thing to change, it would be the fact that the room next to us had their outside seating area on the wall that was next to our bed, which had 2 windows. When we were in our room, we could hear everything they said, and trying to take a late afternoon nap was impossible due to the noise. Perhaps a different room would be a better choice. I wasn't overly impressed with housekeeping. When our room was cleaned, they didn't remove the dirty glasses, or supply us with any more shampoo. They initially had nothing but shampoo, which seemed a little odd when most places provide body wash, hand cream, etc. Most aspects were perfect, and with a few tweaks, this would be a 5 star.

My boyfriend and I recently visited St. Augustine and loved staying at the Penny Farthing. We arrived in town early and they were gracious enough to let us park our car in the lot even if the room wouldn't be ready for another few hours. When we did check in we were shown to our room and given the key. The property kind of feels like a treehouse! It's adorable. It was cold and rainy when we were there but the outside porch looked like a great place for breakfast. Inside our room we found brandy waiting which was a nice touch. Our room was tiny but it had a kitchen and a TV. If you are a larger person, beware. My boyfriend is 6'2 and he hit his tow getting into bed because his side of the bed was close to the wall. The bathroom was also small. They had a wine and cheese happy hour at 4 or 4:30, which was a good snack. Breakfast the next day was the star of the show! We were served ham, egg and cheese sandwiches, fruit and coffee. My one complaint was the bed in our room. For some reason when we got in it was slippery, could've been the material of the sheets, but neither of us slept well that night. Other than that I would recommend this place for your trip to St. Augustine. It's a perfect location; we really enjoyed being able to make trips back and forth from the tourist areas to the inn.

Ok this is the most haunted place in st Augustine lol. We made many mistakes and it's our fault that we summoned up some kind of conjuring situation but really nice stay otherwise! Lmao. My boyfriend at the time gifted me 2 nights Over the summer in this beautiful bed and breakfast for my birthday. We changed the date due to a work event and Richard was kind enough to accommodate. However... we changed rooms due to the date switch. I wish I remembered the name of the room but maybe it's Elizabeth? In any event beautiful place, Richard Is very nice, but make no mistake if you stay in this room on a full moon and hang out in the sitting room at midnight you will experience some paranormal stuff. We mentioned to Richard we were considering doing a ghost tour and he said don't bother just sit in the sitting room at night . I didn't really believe in any of this until it happened and I was scared to death until it stopped happening abruptly at 5am the day of our departure. Pros: really adorable bed and breakfast, great management, comfortable rooms. Walking distance to everything! Cons: maybe a con maybe not lol very very haunted.

What a great find in Saint Augustine! My son & I truly loved this Inn. It was the first stop on our "haunted inn" adventures:) While we didn't see any ghosts;) We did thoroughly enjoy our stay in the Katherine Room! You can tell the man who owns this Inn, and runs it exclusively on his own, has really put his heart and soul into his work. My son really loved our eggs Benedict breakfast made by him. He was very hospitable, and accommodated our later check-in. I had forgotten my glasses there, and a few days later, he was very kind about me stopping by to get them at 8:00 pm, when the front desk had already closed. I definitely recommend Penny Farthing Inn to anyone who stays in this area:)

We had a girls trip to St Augustine and chose Penny Farthing B&B for our stay. We loved our room in the Attic. It was so adorable and came complete with a little boy ghost that I called Tommy . Michelle was so sweet and informative. She talked with us about the Inn and about St Augustine and all it's charms. We were treated to a gourmet breakfast each morning, a bottle of Champagne and Happy Hour each each evening. Highly recommended

Location was good as we were able to walk to old town St. Augustine. Parking spaces are shallow so extra large SUVs or extended bed pickups will not fit. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. We'd stay there again.

Located on Cedar street amongst a row of 4 B&Bs, is The Penny Farthing Inn. The property is beautiful, well decorated, very quiet ( and not every property in St. Augustine is quiet...), great hospitality and ample parking. The room was clean, and we enjoyed the breakfasts. The staff will accommodate dietary needs. The location can't be beat. The Ice Plant (great food) and Distillery (gotta do the free tour!) is a 6 minute walk west. St. George's Street is another 6 min walk north. I've been to St. Augustine a million times, and wish I'd found this gem sooner. Lovely get away with my husband.

Stayed here last night & loved it! We were warmly greeted by David and offered a glass of wine. We stayed in the Buckingham room, which was decorated with nice accents and quite cozy. We enjoyed a touch of sherry there. Room was very clean. He suggested some great sights and eats for us. We had dinner at Preserved, his suggestion and only a short walk, which I highly recommend. Then, this morning he & his daughters made a lovely eggs Benedict & fruit breakfast for us. My only minor frustration (and it's small) was that our room was hot when we went to sleep, but it cooled off throughout the night. Our stay was quick but lovely. I hope I have a chance to return!

A quaint bed and breakfast walking distance from everything in historic St Augustine, the Penny Farthing Inn is a delightful choice for short stays in town. The owners/managers are friendly and got us situated in the Catherine Room upon arrival. It's a king sized bed with a large jet tub in the bathroom. The tub didn't seem quite fully cleaned upon arrival and there was a slight layer of dust in the bedroom in certain areas. Nothing off putting, but noticeable. Breakfast is served 8:30-9:30. The two breakfasts we enjoyed were eggs Benedict and sausage and bread pudding. Both were well portioned meals, just the right amount to get fueled for your day's schedule. There is wifi, cable, and a small assortment of DVDs to choose from for in room entertainment. The bed sheets were incredibly soft and from Costco, so my wife and I have a shopping trip to make soon. Overall, I enjoyed my short visit to the Penny Farthing Inn and I would stay again.

The place is so charming and romantic. Each room is supplied with some nice English sherry, and if that is now enough, you can go downstairs for a cup of tea, a glass of whine,or port. The owner is incredibly sweet. I felt like I was visiting England, really. The location is very good, right in the old town area. Breakfast is incredibly delightful..The bathroom had a jacuzzi and was very spacious, huge pillow-drowned bed...and some nice DVDs to watch. Check out my pics. of the rooms...We stayed at "The Dawn".

Unfortunately, the property did not fully meet the expectations those images created. As Florida residents, we understand the recent cold weather likely impacted landscaping and outdoor upkeep. However, the courtyard and exterior areas appeared noticeably more worn and less maintained than what is currently advertised online. Unfortunately, we booked this specific room for the courtyard charm we saw in the posted pictures. Updating the photos or refreshing the outdoor spaces would help future guests have a more accurate understanding of the property's current condition. There were certainly positive aspects to our stay. The location was excellent, the included parking was convenient, and every staff member we encountered was kind and welcoming. That said, at approximately $375 per night, we anticipated a higher level of overall quality in the accommodations, amenities, and breakfast experience. While the room itself was comfortable enough, it lacked the charm, attention to detail, and elevated feel we expected at this price point. Breakfast was also disappointing; we only chose to participate one of the two mornings because the selection felt quite basic. In a destination like St. Augustine, we expected a more memorable and refined hospitality experience. The toiletries also felt below the standard we anticipated for a property in this category. The shampoo and body wash were small sample-sized bottles that did not feel particularly premium or thoughtfully curated. Additionally, we experienced an issue with the tub jets during our first night. The jets repeatedly turned on by themselves, and we had to troubleshoot the wall switches multiple times to stop them, which became frustrating and disruptive. Overall, it felt as though the premium pricing was driven primarily by the location rather than the full guest experience. We have stayed at similarly priced bed-and-breakfast properties in Savannah and found the room quality, amenities, and dining experience there to be significantly more impressive. I genuinely wanted to love this property and had hoped it might become an annual anniversary destination for us, which makes this disappointment even more unfortunate. I share this feedback constructively because I do believe the property has strong potential with a few thoughtful improvements.

We came here to see a concert at the AMP outside of town. Being that the rates at nearby hotels were more than I was willing to spend, I looked at local B&B's, and this one fit the bill between it's local and downhome aesthetic, breakfast being included with gluten-free options for my wife, and a relaxing bathtub for my wife to soak and relax. Eva was fantastic in ensuring we had everything we needed. She is an absolute gem who made us feel at home and welcome. She helped us with some concerns and requests. With a house that has been in existence since 1853, as indicated by the plaque by the front door, this has the historical aesthetic and the comfort to match. The lobby area has some lovely velvet sofas shared with the dining area, where you can have either white or red wine or water, for example. The porch is also nice for a glass of wine, people-watching, and enjoying life as it passes by. Food-wise, they served breakfast if you're able to get to the lobby before 9:45 PM. Technically, the kitchen is open till 10 AM, but don't push your luck. But it's nice to have some coffee and breakfast, whether it's eggs and French toast soufflé or whatever is on the menu, and then you're off for your day. If you are gluten-free, make sure you mention it in advance so they can accommodate you. Our room was lovely, with a comfortable four-poster king-sized bed, a classy dresser, and nightstands. No closet, but there are knobs for hanging up shirts, pants, and dresses if you have clothes hangers. I liked the complimentary dark chocolate when we arrived as well. The room we had for our stay had a hot tub and a shower with multiple showerheads. Once you figure out how to use both, it is heaven. It allowed us to live our best lives. My wife enjoyed the tub immensely, then, after the fact, enjoyed the bathrobe. I liked that the toilet was in a separate room from the sink and shower/hot tub, especially, if you need to go and it goes sideways. The outdoor patio is also nice if you want an afternoon drink, fenced off from the street, especially if you want to smoke a cigar. We have already booked for a concert we are attending in July. And that date will not be the last time we book at the B&B. It is grand.

Unfortunately, what I thought would be a dream vacation quickly turned into a complete nightmare. My husband and I live about two hours away from St. Augustine, and since we had a night off, we decided to book a one-night getaway. I searched online and found what looked like a completely relaxing, dream room: the Palm South room. I felt comfortable booking directly through their website because the policy explicitly noted that payment was not due until we arrived on the property. We were so excited at the thought of a quick getaway where we could just relax in our own private, in-room jetted tub. A few minutes into our drive to the hotel, the nightmare began. We received a call from the owner demanding payment. I thought this was odd since the website stated payment was due upon arrival, but since we were already on our way, I paid over the phone. A few minutes after that, while still driving, my husband received a text message giving us the access code to a different room: "Palm North." The room they forced us into was $30 cheaper and did not have a jetted tub. Figuring it was a simple mistake, we called the owner. He informed us that they switched our room because the water heater for the Palm South room was broken. When we explained that we only booked that specific room for the in-room jetted tub, he told us we could still stay in it, but the water would be cold! He did not offer any compensation or a discount for the forced downgrade. When I asked him to please just reverse the charges since the advertised room was unavailable, the owner flatly refused. He claimed he had offered us two different rooms--neglecting to mention that one was cheaper and the other was broken! Since we were almost there, we decided to drive to the property to speak with someone in person. When we arrived, the property was completely deserted. The owner refused to answer his phone, leaving us with no choice but to call the local police for assistance in resolving the theft. Even the police could not reach him. He had gotten exactly what he wanted: our money for a room that wasn't functional or as advertised. We ultimately left and had to book a room elsewhere with working hot water and a much nicer owner. We are now relying on our bank to dispute and reverse the fraudulent charges. What started as a beautiful dream turned into an absolute nightmare. I learned a very hard lesson and will never book directly through a website with a small property like this again. Avoid this place at all costs. **Edited to add that I filed a report to yhe BBB and a secondary complaint with the Florida Attorney General (the Department of Legal Affairs).
