I like thrift stores when I'm out of town, and have time to kill. It's fun to see what kinda cool…read morestuff you can find, as well as helping out a good cause. ( The proceeds from this store go to help children in one of four orphanages in Mexico. ) The store isn't huge, but the prices are so great. I couldn't believe it, after seeing what some of the other local larger thrift stores charge -sometimes more then the actual retail price ... *cough*VV*cough* Anyway I came just before closing, so I didn't get to look around much. They had a sign for 50% off yellow tags. I found 2 new in packaging Ty Beanie Baby's for 1.00$ each ( but they were yellow tagged making them 1.00$ for both ! ) my friend collects them, so I couldn't resist. They made an announcement that they were closing soon. Which I loved- I hate it when a store is closed with no prior warning. I then saw the shoes on display. Again, unlike VV they were clean and gently used. I had only brought my boots with me ( I was in town for a few days ) and really could of used some casual shoes to slip on, instead of wearing my thigh high boots all the time, during this trip. I wear a 10 in footwear, so it's not always easy finding my size. I asked the lady if it was too late to try them on, and she was super nice. She told me to go ahead. Both pairs fit, and at 2$ and 3$ each how could I go wrong ? I also bought a glass heart necklace ( see pic ) for 1.00$ ! They had a good sized book selection at the back. I love to read, and go through 4-5 books a week ( another reason I like thrift stores- I can get my book fix ) there was only a few minutes to spare, so I didn't have time to browse but I did pick out a hardcover book. The lady on cash was also super nice and friendly. She rang me up and got me a nice box for my necklace. The total for everything ? Only 9.60$ !! I'm sure if I had more time to look, I would of probably found more stuff I really didn't need. But thrift stores is a fun way to spend some time, and not a lot of money. Langley seems to have a awful lot of thrift stores, so if you are in town, add this one to your list of places to stop by!

It's amazing how long people hold onto furniture and clothes them release it for it to be discovered by who? Someone who refurbishes old pieces?! Because that's all that comes to mind. I want to strip them down and revamp the design however it would be a huge undertaking and in the end I would rather just have fun looking. The clothes here are not as abundant as value village but I found a cute dress for $5 and that's the kind of thrifting I like. I like to have lots of outfits to use for working on movies as an extra, or just to have. I've always enjoyed a good well loved piece, something clean but lived in with personality. Their are 3 thrift stores all located within minutes of each other. I also donate here , Talize and value village. Its all about the recycling of household items and clothes. I recently downsized after a move and it felt good to re-home some treasured gems and useful possessions.

You've got to have patience and look through the entire rack (organized by size) but it's worth it. You will find something great at 10% of the original price. Also, clothing is very clean... I even my my shoes here. I've found: Isabel Marant boots, Gucci loafers, moschino heels, Sam Edelman wedge boots, Stuart Weitzman oxfords... I could go on.

But similar to my relationship with cheese, I just can't stay mad at it for long. So I've made a deal with myself: from now on it's only high-quality dairy goodness (read: no Cracker Barrel); and Value Village is only to be visited in decidedly select locations. This particular establishment just so happens to have made the cut. As far as lame big-box thrift stores go, this one is pretty fantastic (relatively speaking, I mean it's still a shitty thrift store). Organized, clean, decent selection, and genuinely friendly and animated staff mean that I don't feel like I've been totally ripped off after I've left with yet another sequined top. A rarity in the infinite megathrift empire, the Langley location leaves me feeling like there just might be Value in this Village after all (cheese!).
