At a place like uhaul - that everyone needs- the service can be whatever because we still need the truck. So I was surprised how polite the workers were. Give them a raise. I ended up corresponding with 3 different employees (2 on pick up, 1 at drop off) they were all great. Thanks for your hard work. Service industry is not always easy and you did your job well.

Sara would not take my calls but happily took the mankato mgr's call as I sat there. I could not hold over because my lease ended that day. I had several emails, text messages, and recorded phone calls (I recorded) guaranteeing the pickup date of 7/31. I expressed how important this was because of my lease ending, and I was assured they would be picked up that date. I received a call while driving across the country that my boxes would not be picked up that date - 7/31. Then the lakeville office said they were "working on it" and would "call me later." I turned around and drove back to mankato. The mgr at the local office, Jerome, called Sarah Mau in lakeville- who was now suddenly available to talk - and she said there was no way they could help me. No one was willing to contact a third party vendor with a flatbed truck to just pick up the boxes and have them sit at the mankato site until lakeville could come get them. Then I spoke with the mankato regional/district mgr, Christopher Bohlman, and he told me that he does not have to honor the contract pick-up date, and yelled at me. I paid thousands of dollars to have the boxes picked up and - on contract and many written (and recorded on FB e phone) conversations with corporate this would be done according to the contract. Christopher does not want to honor the contract because to do so he would have to spend money with another vendor. First U-Haul said the driver was injured, then he was sick, and they told corporate there was a mechanical issue. They told me 8/2, and told corporate 8/1 because I sat in my car and called corporate for help, and they got involved but to no avail. Christopher is a dishonest businessman, and he is rude. While on the phone with corporate, I found out that U-Haul unilaterally amended the contract today to reflect a pickup date of 8/1/26. I did not sign for this. It is highly illegal to breach a contract and then unilaterally amend its terms. If the U-Haul office signed my name - while I was in my car - we have a forgery issue. This is not how we do things in mankato. Do not trust Christopher or do business with him.

This Uhaul place is alright by me. We've used them three times now, once to move here from Texas…read more(about a year ago), and two other times to move from our apartment to our new home in Bloomington (across two weekends last month). Our first time with these folks was simply to drop off the massive 26' footer we'd driven from Texas. We'd done our best to get it unloaded on time, and we rolled it in mere minutes past our drop-off time, close to when the place closed; we feared the worst. But these guys were totally chill and didn't charge us a dime for going over. That was SO appreciated after a stressful, hectic move that they didn't take advantage of our slight tardiness. Our second and third uses were just in-town daily rentals, picking up and dropping off at the same location. Each time was a relatively quick process of just waiting in the line of the morning, supplying our info, being given the keys, and walking across the street to find our designated vehicle. The employees we interacted with were all in decent spirits and helpful. Nothing over the top amazing, but just fine. I was impressed by the amount of items available in the office/shop. Pretty much if you've accidentally forgotten something important day-of like locks or tie-offs or hitches or packing materials or bike racks or heck, even cedar chips to ward off moths, they have it for sale. It probably will cost you a little extra than say at Walmart, but at least you won't have to take time out of your moving day to make an additional stop. Honestly the only thing we found personally annoying was the process of reserving online ahead of time. The website doesn't work super good on mobile, and the upselling is obnoxious. You'll be deselecting A LOT of extraneous things like dollies and boxes and blankets, etc. it "helpfully" places in your cart without you asking. The trucks themselves are what you'd expect. Some are in better condition than others, some are a little cleaner than others, but they're all serviceable and seem to get the job done okay. If you're dropping off in this location and need to fill the tank, I personally recommend Leroy's over the BP. The BP happens to be more convenient, but Leroy's is significantly cheaper, so if you're needing a sizeable refill, your wallet will thank you for making a couple obnoxious left turns.

I needed a fix to my towing setup, and they took a quick look right away to be sure I needed the work, got me in quickly for service, were clear about possible costs, explained the issue (not costly, as it turned out), and completed the job while I waited just a little while.

More pros than cons for this Uhaul location but a couple of quick notes in general:…read more1. The trucks themselves are barebones and haven't changed in the past 20 years. Home Depot has better trucks at better rates. 2. Moving can be stressful. Get their truck insurance for the peace of mind. Pros: 1. Easy to order online. 2. Plenty of moving tools and accessories for purchase at their office 3. The 15' rental truck comes with an extended gangplank for loading. 3. Gated parking for your personal vehicle with access codes to get in and out. 4. Afterhour customer support if you're trapped in their gated parking lot. Expect to wait 45 minutes or more. Cons: 1. This location closes early so don't take the employees word for it. Google said 5pm but the cashier guy told me it was actually 6pm. When I showed up at 6, the whole place was shut down. 2. Return the rental truck before the office closes or else you'll be using the self checkout process. The website was sluggish when I used it and can give the false impression that the check out process was completed. There's a $20 fee otherwise. 3. Another reason to return the truck before the office closes is the gates can malfunction and lock you in their premises.

Arrived 90 minutes after 9 am pickup and our truck with dolly was given away. Clerk said it was our issue, and to call 1-800#. Called, transferred to reservations, transferred to Massachusetts, transferred to Minnesota. We asked for another truck somewhere. Rep said we were out of luck and, with much attitude, asked if we were the kind of people who'd show up 3 hours late for a 2:00 haircut. Here's how it should have went: The clerk honors the pre-confirmation and gives a 6-day reservation a pick-up grace period like every other company does. Or ... the rep apologies for the confusion, explains the policy, and finds us another truck in the area. You left us without a truck for our move, coupled with an unforgivable bad attitude with everyone involved in your customer service. Never will I use or recommend UHaul. Inexcusable.

Henry Hill from the movie "Goodfellas" would approve of how they operate. The first indication was when I signed up online. I chose the start date as first of the month, but they instead used the date I paid, which was June 26th. 4 days, I thought "whatever." At the end of the year they raised the monthly rental rate 20%. That's far above the industry average, but I didn't much care. Rent should have been due September 26, but instead the date mysteriously changed to 25th. On the 28th, which was a Sunday, they sent an email informing me there was a 15% surcharge after three days for late payment. That seemed a bit excessive, especially when it wasn't even three business days (two were a weekend), but I didn't really care. When I did care was when the "manager" called me on a SUNDAY to inform me that the payment was late, to which I replied that I already knew that because they sent a bill for the additional 15%. Oh no, that's not all, the "manager" explained, they add 15% again after one week and then 50% after two weeks. If a credit card that charges 30% annually is considered gouging, what does one call the fees that this place tries to impose? The icing on the cake is that they won't let me leave a review because I'm not a fresh dupe, i.e. I've had the time to learn the angle of their outrageous shakedown scheme.

We scheduled a 6x 12 enclosed trailer that had been in an inconvenient location for any truck to pull up and hitch the trailer. I had asked if they can switch to a different trailer and from one of there employees who I believe name was Dan or Nick in his early 30s, with a small beard had said a hard no with an attitude. The manager or owner I believe had then came and asked what was the issue and I had explained and he seen that I couldn't any further for by reversing back by trying not to hit one of their tanks that weren't able to be moved by a dolly, and there dolly's in the front of the way, had also said a hard no and made us late to our destination eventually.
