I found a beautiful mid-century Bauer planter, one of the best I've ever seen. Craig was very knowledgeable and shared in my enthusiasm for the piece (not your typical gruff shop owner!). He has an amazing selection of Red Wing crocks too. Maybe next time I pass through I'll have more space in the car. Great to see such a great selection of American made pieces. The owners of the vintage clothing shop next store are wonderful too! This spot is definitely worth the visit if you're passing through La Grande.

I wanted to get a used copy of Bossypants and the guy helped me find it for $9.50, a total steal. Ninety percent of their books are used and most all are in great quality. You'll also find a cat chilling in the children's book section, giving a cozy, homey feeling. Looking Glass Books is definitely worth a quick stop when driving on I-84.

They let us crawl all over their mattresses (respectfully of course) until we found one that felt right and we could afford. They didn't try to sell us more than we could afford; and when they delivered, on-time as promised, they also helped my wife return a fairly heavy dry sink to its original spot since we had to move it so they could get the mattress into the house. Great people. Great experience. Great mattress. What more could anyone ask for?

I gives him the third degree about mattresses. After bump'in gums awhile I decide this dude knows more about mattresses than I does box jobs. And I know a lot about box jobs. He tries to get me a custom cut size mattress, cause I'm a customized kind of cat. But the crew that helps him do custom orders ain't gonna make it happen. Still, he tries for me and gets back to me right away when it won't work. Was a time a goon like me could get a custom fitted suit, shoes to match and a broad in a matching dress to go. Those days are gone. But enough of my blathering on. This joint ain't no flim flam. When Shaun couldn't make the custom thing happen he made me a "deal you can't refuse" ... my Godfather would be proud to have him in the family. He even loaded it on my truck. Loaded it in the alley in the daylight even, unusual for me, I'm more of a after midnight out the back discount shopper. So when you look around your crib and it looks like a hurricane of pizza boxes and dirty glasses have just passed thru knocking over the crates you use for tables. If you want a soft place to sit and a decent nights sleep, motor on down there. Who could say, if you do, some dame might even be willing to come over. Mattress Quest, Chapter Three…read more Moving on and expanding our search from Baker City to La Grande we decided to check out the store we had driven past many times, Globe. Smaller than previous stores, Globe has more of a boutique feel. This isn't a bad thing, in fact, right at the front we spied a beautiful sectional couch that was covered in a soft grey fabric that reminded me of elephant hide and we just had to ask the price. After grimacing upon hearing said price, we quickly moved on. I was a little sad at the small mattress selection, but we still tried out each and every one. None could compare to the Serta we now had our hearts set on though. The staff was as helpful as they could be, but they didn't have any products we were interested in at the moment. Globe will be kept in mind for living room furniture though, as they seemed to have lines that were more our taste.
