Stopped by to see if they could patch/tube my tire and the guy at the front desk immediately told me I'd need to completely replace it. The nail was in the center and in a repairable area of the tire. From there he told me he'd have to sell me 2 and was pushing for me to replace all 4. My tires are still under warranty mileage. I was traveling from Tampa to Miami when my tire sensor went off. Turned out I had a nail in my tire. No big deal I thought, that is, until I was putting air in my tire and the stem valve broke. This caused the air to leak quickly and it started to go flat. Thankfully someone helped me change my tire and I decided to come here to get the repairs done. Bryan checked me in and must've seen the stress on my face because they did the repairs at no cost. As a woman traveling alone with no family, here in Florida, I felt such a huge relief. The peace of mind they gave me on the road for another 2 hours, was worth getting home much later than anticipated. They were quick and Bryan provided such great customer service. Pep Boys saved me $5,000. today for a free service as it did not involve auto repair. I had accidentally dropped my hearing aids under one of the front seats. The service person immediately volunteered to look for them and after a 10 minute search found them. They have always given us good service with no longer wait time than in other towns and cities. Made an appointment to have four tires put on my appointment was 11 AM. It took them two hours and 36 minutes to get my car out to me. They blamed it on not being able to balance the last tire. It should've took no more than an hour and a half. I will never go back there again. I had an appointment for 1230. At 115 my car was still sitting in the parking lot. I called Tuffys on Colonial, they said bring your car down. I left promptly. Tuffy's was $20 cheaper and my car was on the rack within 10 minutes of pulling in the parking lot. Pep Boys was dirty and very unfriendly. read more

Fort Myers, FL location....Store manager James is a liar. Went to get my battery checked which mind you I purchased on 11/27/2019 with a four year warranty. I already had the battery checked at three other places all with a reading of bad battery. Went to PEPBOYS Fort Myers where I purchased said battery to get checked, was told would take 2 hours because they test it then charge it then test it again. Appt was for 9 am, the battery print out readings James gave us at a time of 7:58 AM and 8:08 AM. How is that possible if I was there at 9 and exactly how did that allow you to charge it for 2 hours when those readings are 10 minutes apart. James comes out and said oh it's a bad battery you will need to replace it. When I inquire about the warranty which it is still under then he says the battery is good for another six months which is exactly when the warranty ends. SAVE YOUR MONEY and go makes your purchases from a more reputable place where you are not lied to. Attempted to call customer service who apparently is answered by the same person over and over again. Not willing to help, not willing to open a case or complaint, not willing to call the store manager, not willing to escalate the matter. Just said oh quick fix go back to the store. Called back 4-5 times and kept getting same person. Last call I am pretty sure was the same rude unfriendly cocky **shole who I am sure pretended to be someone else at this point and claimed to have escalated the matter to area district manager. One again this company is a rip off and stealing your money especially susceptible patrons. They need to go out of business!!!! As for James what a douche bag! This place is a joke. I dropped off my car at 11am to have a wheel alignment and was told it would be put on the rack right away. I come back at 12:45 and I was told he's been trying to get a hold of me after waiting in line for 15minutes because it can't be done due to my car being lowered. He claims he was trying to get a hold of me but he has my number and I didn't receive any calls. I've had it aligned here before when it was lower so I don't believe it. The only reason I come to pep boys is because I have paid for a 5 year alignment program. Last time I dropped it off, it was done but it took them two days. I dropped it off in the morning and waited all day without receiving a call. I decided to call 30 minutes before closing and the person tells me "We didn't get a chance do it, we'll have it done first thing in the morning" which is ridiculous. I will never go here again but if for any reason I need to I will ONLY deal with Jamie or Joe & I strongly advise you to do the same. Jamie is extremely nice and she actually cares about you unlike the manager and assistant manager (Jaime & Lee ) Joe helped me and worked with me on what was actually wrong with my car and fixed the problem in a timely manner. He's probably the most honest and caring person who works here. I had multiple guys lie to me about what was being put into my car and when I told the manager he shrugged it off and didn't care one bit. Absolutely the worst service we've ever received. My husband took our car in on Sunday, with an appointment, to have the alternator changed. They did the job, we paid over $400 for it, then left, fully expecting our car to run. Later in the day it kept stalling. My husband called and spoke to a very nice tech, Donovan, who told him it was probably just that they hadn't re-set the computer and we could come in the following day to have it re-set. We showed up Mon. morning at 8 a.m. and were faced with Juan...holy heck, how this guy is even employed boggles my mind. He's so incredibly rude and abrasive. He basically yelled at my husband, whose voice is always calm and conservative, and barked at him, before my husband even got to say a word, that "we did what you told us to do". Turns out, it was an easy fix so Juan's drama show was totally unnecessary. A simple "Okay sir, let us take a look at your car" would have sufficed. In the meantime, we got to experience Juan barking out in Spanish to some poor little bewildered man who was most likely going to get ripped off by him. I brought my car in for you to repair a flat tire and an hour later I find my car up on the lift with not only the front passenger tire (the flat one) removed, but also the back passenger tire removed, and the hood up over the engine? So, when the Pep Boys rep called my name and started to list 10 things of servicing I need, a red flag went off in my head and I stopped him right there. He said 'So you're declining all this work? I spoke with Abnel and Andy, they both were honest and went above and beyond for me. Abnel gave me an amazing discount on rotors and brake pads. Andy went above and beyond working on my car, he put brake lights in my car that he had laying in his toolbox (mine always blow out due to some kind of electrical problem). They added many extras without my permission, including using the most expensive oil and some rip off battery warranty. How is it that with a tire rotation the tires still needed air when I left? They also took a half our longer than the estimated time, many employees were not wearing masks or wearing them as chin straps. This place is a complete rip off run by shysters. Took my car in and the first thing they say is "$104 for a diagnostic". They didn't let me explain to them what the car was doing, how it was driving...NOTHING. but they wanted the $104 off the bat. I didn't mind paying the diagnostic charge but their salesman, James, had no personality to the point I thought he wa angry with me and giving me the cold shoulder with his "yes and no" answers and NO EYE CONTACT. They are extremely expensive! For some spark plugs and a 1 coil, they wanted to charge close to $700. I researched part prices and all parts together totaled $103, I dont know where they got the $683 they wanted to charge me. I asked for the diagnostic report that I paid for and they refused to give it to me, they said it was property of Pep Boys. I dont plan to go back to Pep Boys, not even for a quart of oil. read more

Use as a last ditch automotive service center. Dropped off our car for an early bird service because our car was not starting earlier that day (not related to a battery issue). When calling the next day was put on hold for like 20 minutes each time we called before they even took your name or issue. They ultimately identified an issue that appears unrelated to the diagnostic concern presented to them. So the issue we brought it in for was never addressed at all. And they charge you $90 for a diagnostic check and no ultimate fixes. Save yourself some money and go somewhere else. read more

My car had been previously diagnosed with a bad water pump by our usual mechanic. Being a little strapped after the holidays we chose to have the repair performed at pep boys because we have a credit card there. I had the vehicle towed in and was asked if I wanted to pay an extra $40.00 for a professional diagnosis of my car's systems related to the problem rather than just replacing the water pump. Being accustomedd to dealing with an honest and reputable mechanic I agreed. In a short time I received a call from the service department to notify me that my car "has a blown head so the engine is shot" needless to say I was shocked. I asked if they were certain and was told "Yes, it's blown the car has 180000 miles on it,you should try and trade it in or something, it's not worth fixing, the engine will be over $3000." I promptly arranged towing back to our usual mechanic who replaced the water pump, confirmed that the head was not blown, flushed the system and suggested a new radiator, which we agreed to because we can trust his work and counsel. This isn't Miami, this is Ft. Myers, you'll be closing your bays before long if the owner doesn't rectify this. It's a small town still, we like to keep it that way. Keeps people from deceiving and defrauding customers. read more

Came here with a bolt in my tire. My car and tires are only a year old. Guy came out and looked at it for 2 seconds and said it's not repairable we can't patch it. Gave me a quote for a new tire. Went down the street to an auto repair shop and they patched it and only charged me $25 for the patch and labor.
