On 6-18-26 I made an appointment to have my truck serviced on Saturday the 20th at 8 AM. I filled out the work requested sheet when I made the appointment asking them to replace the rotors front and rear, ceramic brake pads and flush the brake fluid system and it must be completed on the same day and they said no problem. When I dropped the truck off at 8 AM and reiterated that I wanted rotors replaced, new ceramic pads, flush the brake system and if they had time to change the shocks as well. At 11:30 Pep Boys calls and tells me that the repairs my truck needed were the same things I asked for in the first place plus wipers, air filter needed replacement and differential serviced. I told them the air filter was replaced last December and not to do it. I called them at 4:10 PM and asked if my truck was ready for pick up and lady said not yet, I asked her how much longer and she said she would ask the service technician. She told me about 45 minutes so I uber down to Pep Boys and my truck wasn't ready. I asked how much longer she said they would be done by closing. About 5:45 the desk lady tells me she has some not so good news. Turns out they were nowhere close to done and that one caliper was seized and had to be replaced and they couldn't get the caliper until the morning, but they wouldn't have a service technician to install it until Monday. By now it's a little after 6 PM and I have to call uber for a ride home. Meanwhile in the shop they start working on the differential. That made me see red. Not only didn't they do what I asked for first before they wasted hours which on top of a $3100.00 bill, I will also lose a day pay on Monday, but it also hurts my employer's faith in my dependability. I can honestly say that I would not recommend this Pep Boys for anything other than oil, wiper, tire and air filter changes. 6-21-26 I thought that I would be posting a give credit where credit is due write up but that's just not the reality of the situation. I will give them credit that they brought someone in to replace the seized caliper today so that I wouldn't miss a day of work and I will give them credit for that. Pep Boys called today when they had my truck finished and said it was ready for pick up. Upon arrival at Pep boys I gave my truck a quick look to check the work out. There was oil spilled all over the cowl in front of the radiator, the brake fluid reservoir was overfilled and obvious that the brake system wasn't flushed as requested. I went into the office and asked to see the itemized bill and I found I was billed for an oil change that I did not authorize because I had just had one 339 miles ago and wasn't due for another 2661 miles. The charge for the oil change was $290.84 plus tax. The brake fluid flush that wasn't done, I was charged 123.20 plus tax. $414.14 plus tax for work I did not authorize or that wasn't done. I requested ceramic brake pads front and rear, they installed ceramic on the front and semi-metallic on the rear. I told the day manager that I wouldn't pay for the oil change that I didn't authorize or the brake fluid flush which wasn't done. Ellis the day manager would not hear of it. So, I asked if I could talk to his supervisor, he calls his supervisor when he left the office and told me that it's all recorded, I explained to him that I had asked to talk to his supervisor and he told me to come back tomorrow if I wanted to talk to the supervisor. I said ok, let me hear the recording and he said I'll have to call the Sherrif and I said fine by me. The Sherrif's showed up in mass, three of them including the shift supervisor. Sherrif said pay the bill and leave so I did, I had to ask the Sherrif to get my key from the office, and he hands me a key bent enough that I couldn't insert it into the ignition. I had to straighten it out with the butt of a screwdriver on the asphalt. Yesterday, the lady managing the office did her best to placate me and she did manage to get someone to come in today to install the last caliper and put the tires on so I wouldn't miss a day of work. The mechanic working today was kind enough to clean up the spilled oil. Odd as it is, my bill went from $3100.00 yesterday to $2448.33 and today's final invoice was for 2149.98 and that's with the oil change I didn't ask for. Unfortunately, the office manager could not produce the work authorization form that I had signed last Thursday for the work that I was requesting. Odds are I'm going to have to take my truck to another shop to get my brake fluid system flushed and have them check to make sure new caliper slide pins were installed as I requested. Bottom line I would not recommend this Pep Boys to anyone for anything. read more

It's been almost a month since my unfortunate visit to Pep Boys and I have not heard from anyone concerning my case #332659. I have called them and asked to speak to someone in charge but all I get is the run around. At first they told me that someone would contact me within 24 working hours, that didn't happen so I called them back and the guy on the phone gave me a case number and told me that someone would contact me within 24 to 48 working hours, well that didn't happen either. I have a legitimate gripe, they had padded my bill up to $3100.00, work wasn't completed when they said it would be, girl in office took all the extra work that was added without my consent and the bill dropped to $2400.00 and change. They did get it finished the next day and the final bill was $2149.98. I wouldn't have had a problem with that except they changed my oil and charged me $290.84 plus tax, I never asked them to change my oil which I had just gotten done three weeks previously and was not due until 9/26 which was three months away. I did ask them to flush the brake fluid system which they charged e 123.20 plus tax but they did not plush the brake fluid system. I would have been happy if they just said sorry and refunded the $414.20 plus tax. The real kicker is they couldn't produce the work authorization form where I stated the work I wanted done and signed the form. Now I'm past that, I'm going to file a claim with the state of Florica and see if that gets me results. If that doesn't happen I'll have to explore other legal options. Pep Boys on Miracle Strip is here I have gotten every new set of tires I put on my truck and well as every brake job. Right now I wouldn't recommend them to anyone for service on a one speed bicycle much less an automobile or truck. read more

Does not understand how an online appointment system works. Had an appointment for service and noted I would be waiting. Went in for my service a little early and they said "you'll have to drop it off and we'll try to get to it before 7pm" and I told them about my appointment online their response was "the computer doesn't know what we already have on our board". One might think it's a problem just with this store however I had a very similar issue with the location on Beal where that store too kept telling me to come back at a certain time for them just to say I'd need to leave for the day so they could get to it. I should have never purchased tires thru Pep Boys as a whole. read more

Takes way too long just to replace tires. Front desk guy got an attitude when I asked for a updated time of completion. It's wasn't busy at all, they were all on they're phones everyone I looked to see if my car was ready though the window. Bottom line is this place sucks. I'm still waiting as we speak. read more

The Pep Boys did more damage then good. I went there to have a flat repaired and several days later returned as the tires was leaking. They took it off and added beading to the rear of the rim. One would have thought they check their work for leaks. Several days later the same issue only on the front of the rim. The manager informs me that I may need a new rim or tire. I take the tire to another tire specialist and am told it is the valve. Days later still leaking. Finally, I take the tire to a local tire dealer and they find the side wall has been punctured! I have a suspicion this happened from the beginning. This necessitated a new tire. Thanks guys! read more

The "Boys" saved my *censored*. My wife and I were heading down to Ft Walton on a Friday night. We were about 20 miles from our destination when her car went berserk; loud banging, engine light flashing, car shaking. We pulled off and I took an educated guess that she had cylinder not firing. Coasted to an auto parts store nearby, 5 minutes before they closed, to get the engine light code read. Sure enough, #3 was not firing. We limped on to our destination keeping it under 35 MPH. So there we were; on a Saturday morning, 350 miles from home, with no working car and we had to get back to Atlanta on Monday. Looking online, most auto shops around were closed for the weekend. I thought we were *censored*. Fortunately, we were within walking distance of the Pep Boys on the Miracle Strip. Open 7 days a week. I called them right as they opened and told Kent (the manager) our situation. He told us if we could bring it in before 8, he'd have his mechanic on it first thing. Turns out, I was only half right about the spark plug. The spark plug had blown clear out of the cylinder head, taking the threads with it. (That is not good). Fortunately, in lieu of replacing the whole *censored* cylinder head, Pep Boys was good enough to offer me the option of repairing the plug socket with a helicoil. They also had to replace an ignition coil and all six spark plugs. Kent gave me a "worst case" quote and promised to try to do it for less. I'd had a similar issue on another car and knew that his quote was reasonable. Kent and his "Boys" got the car fixed in half a day and for much less than their original quote. Kent knew we were in a bind and he didn't try to take advantage of us. Under the circumstances, I couldn't have been happier. read more

I don't even know where to start with my review of Pep Boys on Beal Parkway. I went there Monday, Feb 4, 2013 to get my window regulator replaced, which they did of course, and gave me a much bigger discount than my original estimate. I really appreciate that every time I go in, these guys are always friendly and always ready to help a desperate woman (me) in need! They fixed my window perfectly! After paying, I went outside to start up my car, and it was out of gas! Yes, my fault completely. Stephen was kind enough to take me to the gas station in his car and put some gas in my car so that I could at least get to another station to fill up. I wish I could remember the other guy's name who took care of me and my car, (the work order says Dennis, but don't know if this is the one who actually did the work or the one at the counter) but he, as well as the entire staff, are awesome as well. Talk about customer service!!! They never complained and seemed genuinely happy to help. I am telling you, I will always be a loyal customer from now on and take my car to them. It helps that they are 5 min from my house too! Corporate, if you are paying attention, you need to give these guys some kudos and a big fat raise!!!! read more

He was correct to question the charges and the work that was done is abysmal! The car is in worst condition than before the "repair". Its so terrible, I am seriously in shock. BY FAR THE BEST!!! These guys are the best mechanics i have ever been to. My girlfriend had a a/c problem on her car needing to replace her a/c compressor. We have been going through more than 10different mechanic shops to get the best price. They all quoted us more than $1100 barely checking what is wrong. These guys actually checked everything possible to make sure it was not any other issue. They figured out it was the a/c compressor that needed to be replaced. They gave us the best quote of $720 including everything. We went ahead and decided to get it fixed. It took a couple hours and they updated us on everything that was going on. And when we went to go pick up the car, they actually went out of the way to fix her bumper that's been dented and had big damage. AT NO CHARGE!! My girlfriend came out soo happy! These guys are the best. If anyone needs their cars fixed DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE! These guys are the one to go to even if you live far it's worth the drive. read more

They forgot to put my locking lug nut socket back in my car, so I had to make a special trip back to go pick it up. Now I've been driving my car for only about 1k miles, and my oil is low & I need an oil change!!! So the shorted me on oil!!! And yes, I had a professional check, no leaks. I'll start by saying RICARDO was my initial representative / contact when I entered the location. I have just visited Destin / Fort Walton Beach for the first time with my family. My battery started going bad a few days into the vacation and went completely out 5 days into it. I left my family on a morning to go get it replaced. I picked pep boys because I know they are a national chain and they are in my home city. Ricardo was not only personable but was extremely educated about every question I threw his way. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. He said he had just moved in the last year from Tulsa Oklahoma but it was apparent he knew a lot about the immediate area. He has a degree in mechanical engineering, and is in my opinion a SUPER ASSET to Pep Boys. A+ for this guy. He made me and my families day great. This is not a company I would trust to work on my car again. In addition to questionable work, their customer service is worse than Comcast. After having my 2010 Subaru Outback worked on by PepBoys Ft. Walton Beach and spending $1,300 with them, I drove 8 hrs., only to have my engine die. Normally, I would take my brother with me to make sure I didn't get fleeced, but he's deployed right now and couldn't be there. It's taken four weeks and multiple calls for them to offer me what they perceived as a generous resolution...of $300. I asked for a full refund. The regional manager, Ken Bates, assured me there is no way they would have missed an engine problem in their initial assessment because it would have been an opportunity for them to make more money from me. I guess he's extremely confident that no one makes mistakes. I was also assured after I spent $1,300 with them that my car would run perfectly fine. Obviously, that wasn't the case. My biggest issue has been the poor customer service I've experienced. Here are some of the things that I was told during the process of trying to resolve this issue: - Asking why my engine died: "We don't know." - Asking how much it would be to replace the engine: "Probably $11,000". - After several calls: "You'll hear from the regional manager in 48 hrs." (Didn't hear from him). - Customer service one week later after no call: "Someone tried to call you several times." (Checked voicemail and call logs on phone to verify no one had called me.) - Customer service: "The regional manager will call you in 24 hours." (Received a call from another employee, Chad, instead.) - Regional manager, Ken Bates, when I finally got in touch with him: "I ask other people to call because I'm busy." - Regional manager, Ken Bates, when I asked for a full refund: "No. I'm not going to do that. I can give you $300, and I don't really have to do that." J.J., the store manager at Ft. Walton Beach PepBoys, has been the exception. He's been great to work with throughout the process. Maybe they're confident in how they handled this matter, but their slogan is "The boys you can trust." I wish I could, but I don't trust them anymore. read more

HOWEVER, they claimed they couldn't rotate my tires because the lug nuts were put on so tight that they were stripped and need the whole front tires set up replaced for a grand total of 716.29. I went to pepboys about for a regular oil change that I have been getting done regularly for 3 years now on my Cadillac Escalade. I provide my own oil and oil filter (penzoil high mileage 5W30, Bosch filter 3334) but on this day I also brought in a bottle of Lucas transmission fluid that I wanted to add to my vehicle. Before I gave him the bottle I asked the mechanic if it was safe to use on my particular vehicle since I've never used Lucas in the transmission before and if it wasn't I would just take it back but he advised me that Lucas was safe for everything, well little did I know it wasn't. About 3 days later my transmission locked up on highway 123 and I was unable to drive it anymore. Now before I took my truck in to pepboys there was nothing wrong with my truck and even though it had 130,000 (mostly highway) miles on it there was absolutely nothing wrong with my motor nor transmission, so I had it towed to Aamco off of Elgin in fort walton beach who usually does all my major repairs. Well after getting it towed the owner of AAmco called me and asked if I added any fluid to the transmission and I told him that I had asked the mechanic at pepboys to add it if it was safe, Wayne (the owner of AAmco) then told me that Lucas transmission fluid cannot be added to my type vehicle because of the compounds inside that would cause swelling of something and would eventually cause it to lock up as it did. I then researched if that was true and called Cadillac, Chevrolet and another pepboys to confirm that and everybody said that it was not good to add that and did not recommend doing so because it would cause the transmission to mess up or do some weird things. After finding this out I was mad because I specifically asked the mechanic who added it was it safe and he said yes, I trusted him with my truck as I don't do easily and then this happened. I called to ask what they would do to help fix it since the mechanic at pepboys said it was okay to add it and I was directed to the area manager Ken, off the first conversation I had with Ken he was very rude and disrespectful by interrupting me when I was speaking and laughing in my ear while basically saying I was full of BS and that it was my fault. I finally got him to listen to me while I spoke and explained that I am no mechanic and that I asked was it safe before I gave the okay which HIS mechanic said it was safe, but he finally said he would have the dealership look at it. Cadillac said they could not determine if the Lucas was the problem unless they took apart the transmission and looked at it which Ken was unwilling to pay for even though he said he would cover the cost to get it diagnosed. Bottom line I was left to cover expenses for my transmission even after filling a claim and never hearing from anyone again on whether or not they would cover it. I cannot believe I was treated with such disrespect by not just pepboys area manger (Ken) but also the adjuster Rebecca who has yet to return my phone call to answer my question I've had for several months. I have called multiple times and even put in a complaint about Ken for how I was treated and asked to speak to his boss who also did not call me back. I used to recommend pepboys to my family and friends but after they did this to me I don't recommend them to anyone, not even to get air in their tires. I have been a customer of theirs for 3 years and they did me wrong when I ask that they take not just responsibility for their mechanic and his bad advice but also to help me fix the issue which was left unsolved. So if you feel like trusting people who don't care about you go to pepboys but if you want somebody who actually cares about you and your vehicle I recommend you go anywhere else to anyone else because you won't find the respect, quality nor caringness from this company. I will never go back and still have yet to receive any updates or resolution on the claim I put in months ago for my transmission from the area director Ken or their adjuster Rebecca. You will honestly get better service anywhere but here. read more

I will never use a pep boys again. I came to this pep boys with a flat tire. I was needing one new tire they talked me into getting both of the back tires replaced this took two days to do. I get my car back and that same day I was driving home from work and I have a blowout on the tire they had just put on. The tow truck from pep boys came and he said it was their fault in the way they put on the tire. Had to get it towed to the store didn't get my car back for another three days. Fast forward a month later, I notice there is a weird noise when going over bumps, take it to a tire shop find out that when pep boys was replacing my tires they snapped the tire sensor off and it was rolling around in my tire. The person who did this had to of know and just didn't say anything to me. Now I'm three days into the pep boys in Jacksonville waiting to get the tire sensor put back on. It is not just one of these locations my guess is that the business as a whole is terrible. read more

This review is for Pep Boys Management in the corporate office which they'll never see, let alone respond. For years I've trusted Pep Boys with my fleet vehicles and personal cars. They're great with the small stuff, tires, oil changes, batteries but beware if you have to have major work done. It seems to be a pattern to get you back into the shop with something else wrong with you car. Example...rear brake rotor replaced..oh no..now you need a new starter you'll might as well replace your serpentine belt...oh crap now you need a new ac compressor. Damn it..you need a new ac clutch to boot. Shit..your radiator needs to be replaced! Oh by the way we never mentioned you had a small oil leak because now we'll have to replace your new starter because it's full of oil...which means we're gonna f*ck you again because now you need new oil gaskets. Probably a good idea to get a tune up since we're in there anyway. That'll be 4000.00 please. And just so you know we tie wrapped your pig tail connector that was free. Made it home...WTF!! check engine light is back on! Hasn't been 1 day. Oh well back to the shop to diagnose...maybe this time I'll try someone who isn't out to f*ck me again...Walmart guys might do a better job.
