There is no shortage of rotten meals in the culinary wasteland that is Venice, but this place is…read moreone of the worst offenders. They do just about everything wrong and nothing right. As with most restaurants in town, they cater to tourists -- which means that don't CARE if they have good service or good food because most of their guests are one-time visitors.
If you go here, order the pasta not the pizza, not the salads, not anything else. It's not that the pasta is incredible, but at least it's made fresh in house and it's the least odious thing you can order. We had two different pizzas, pesto pasta, and a shrimp salad. The pasta was the only thing that was semi-decent.
The shrimp salad was truly disgusting, with a gross mix of "wild" greens, shredded carrots, a mealy tomato, canned corn and what appeared to be tinned shrimp (not fresh). It was actually insulting to be served something like this. The four cheese pizza was covered with the most foul smelling and rancid tasting cheeses ever -- and I LOVE stinky cheese. I swear something was wrong with that pizza. The kitchen even messed up a classic salami pie. The pasta was the star but that's not saying much.
Be aware that this place will do anything to overcharge you. They tried to sneak in an extra glass of wine charge (we only ordered 2 glasses but they tried to charge us for 3 on the check) but when we caught them and called them on it, the waiter got downright abusive about it. They already pad the bill with a ridiculous water charge (no tap water allowed although it's completely safe to drink) and a stupid cover charge for every single diner.
The menu even warns that they may use frozen ingredients in their dishes, which tells you all you need to know.
