So here we are at Pepper and Spice for lunch! It is a bright and clean space that is colorfully decorated! The owner "Sanchez" has a great smile and a personality to match. There or only seating for about 15 but when we visited there was plenty of room. We ordered goat curry, cabbage and rice and peas. (Rice and beans if you are not in Jamaica.) Everything was delicious! The goat was so good we found or selves almost licking the plate (the styrofoam containers). Everything here is minimalist with plastic utensils, etc. We will be back soon to try the brown chicken, jerk chicken and oxtail. Had a gathering serving about 10 people and ordered catering ahead of time. Service was prompt and ready at the time requested. Food was delicious and multiple people provided great feedback. Ordered a pan of jerk chicken, rice, and cabbage. It came with the gravy on the side along with a side of hot sauce. I had eaten here before in the past and really enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, it appeared the owner was the only person working that day and seem to be a little rude due to him trying to keep up. Overall, we stayed and waited patiently. We order the jerked chicken and oxtail meal (large). Meat portions are small especially for $20, and a side of stewed chicken. The oxtail were good, but you only had 3 bones which appeared to be on main oxtail cut into thirds (super thin). The food was good and hot. I would try it again. read more

Okay, this place is not in the gas station. It's conveniently next door to a gas station. However the presentation and the taste is not authentic and it may not be fresh. I didn't finish it and my dog didn't want it either and my dog has taste buds. The sauce on my brown stew was so mediocre and really flavourless. It just tastes like they just added some salt to some old sauce that they had.. you have to buy sides separately if you don't want a compo meal which I understand but a side of fish by itself in a plate just doesn't look good. On my photo you see I added the side of rice. It would be good if they could just throw in some lettuce to make it look a little bit more presentable but I definitely won't be back. Absolutely some of the best food in the Fort Wayne area. T place is a hidden gem! I had both the curry chicken and brown stew chicken, and each dish was packed with flavor. Awful! Can't find anyone who works there and when you do a takeout order, it takes them an hour to make it. The place is also gross, you don't want to eat in there. Delivery drivers also beware, they don't care if you have to wait or unassign it. It's also in a gas station. read more

I had been wanting to try this place for a long time. I was a little nervous when I first walked in. There was literally no one in there besides the staff. There wasn't much decor, the walls were sunshine yellow, a single small Jamacian flag and a tiny tv that started playing reggae after I walked in. There were several booths available for dining in. The selection was small and most of the menu items weren't available. Don't come here lookin for a Red Stripe or Ting cuz they only have American fountain drinks and water. The food was in almost like a buffet style serving counter and I'm pretty sure the lady warmed up my plate in the microwave prior to serving it to me. The staff were all very friendly and the food despite its lack of freshness was fiyyaa . The flavors were bussin. I got jerk chicken, rice n peas with curry gravy and cabbage. The music was blasting and the man was very dismissive didnt greet us , when we spoke he just pointed to the menu and shut the kitchen door in our face. We really enjoy the oxtail and the jerk chicken! Been two times so far and each time has been excellent.

I can't believe this happened this afternoon to my niece...... She went into Pepper & Spice to order a lunch special and the owner was there working. She asked ahead of ordering if he could break a hundred dollar bill, he told her yes acting a little annoyed. She places her order it's a little over $10.00 and he says to her........ I'm not breaking $100 for a $10.00 order, YOU can go somewhere else!!!!! ...... REALLY?????? She asked ahead of ordering then he says that..... NOW he lost business from not only her today, but she will never try it again and my brother which was a loyal customer and the rest of our family. I understand it could be frustrating to change $100 but to treat her and say those things is not how you treat potential customers. So that $10 order he refused today actual gonna turn into hundreds of dollars in the long run! I don't care how good the food is YOU DON'T treat paying customers like that! Do Better PEPPER & SPICE!
