Wrap with sidewinders
Stephanie P.

This was on of my favorite meals during my recent trip to Indiana. I was invited to lunch here after a meeting and was quite surprised by both the service and the quality of food served here. It is much elevated from cafes in comparable small towns. The three people I ate with are regulars here and the waitress brought out drinks for them as soon as they sat down. She brought me a menu to look over. I ended up having a Santa Fe chicken wrap with sidewinders (slightly spicy curved homemade potato wedges) and raspberry tea. The wrap was so good! It had southwest spicy sauce and black beans and corn in it in addition to the other ingredients. The people I sat with ordered chili, gumbo, a burger and a grilled cheese. They all enjoyed their meal and hot coffee to warm up on a cold day. If you are in this area, this is a great place for a meal!

This was called the "Kitchen Sink" I could only eat half. $7 no brainer.

Great food at a great price. Local small town diner that makes good food. Whatever you order here is always good. Serving size for breakfast items is usually big enough to split between 2 people. If you're hungry and want to eat cheap, try this place out. Good enough to not disappoint.

Great burgers, great breakfasts! Nothing fancy, but what do you expect from a place that's known for its Hogslop!

Came with a creamy rice pilaf. She added their great salad bar for a complete and filling lunch! Our server was Jenn C, and she could not have been better! Prompt, attentive, radiant smile, efficient, and added to the welcoming ambiance of Trolley. I had their French Onion soup which is some of the best in town. Brothy (not thickened), full of flavor, delicious. I always get it with no bread or croutons and it still arrives at the table hot and layered with melted Swiss. A fav! I also had the tuna sashimi appetizer (pictured) as my entree, which they present beautifully! All in all, a great place for lunch (or dinner) w/friends or loved ones!

The lights were brighter than they needed to be, and it was slightly noisy for a time of conversation and catch-up. The food was hit-or-miss. I ordered the ribeye, which was quite remarkable. Not a lot of mushrooms, but it still hit the spot. My wife ordered the crab cakes, and they were extremely underwhelming. Not only that, but the risotto was severely undercooked (they remade it, and it was still undercooked). It was not the type of dish you'd expect a steakhouse to fall short on. My in-laws ordered the salmon and walleye, which were both up to par. I'm told this place used to be a classic. I'm told this place has the best salad bar in the city, which I'm sure could be true. As an outsider looking in, I was not particularly convinced that this place carried any weight in its day, which is almost saddening.

We could have done this at fast food, received better quality food and drinks, for half the price. I don't know why anyone goes here. So first, the service was fine, but it goes downhill after ordering. I asked if they had a milkshake menu, but apparently corporate decided to get rid of the milkshake menu and make all the waiters recite the menu over and over again. How stupid is that? Reese's, Salted Honey Cinnamon, Strawberry - $7 - The best one was strawberry, and that's not saying much. Every milkshake was so watery that we were drinking flavored milk more than ice cream. The waitress even got my milkshake on my shoes. She apologizes about how watery it is, but that's it. She even says she'll bring over more napkins (cause it was dripping all down our cups too), but she forgot to come back with the napkins a few times, so it took a long time to get more napkins. At least they got rid of paper straws, cause at one point a few years ago, you couldn't even suck up the milkshake through the paper straws cause the paper straws disintegrated. Back then, I asked for a spoon, and they said they didn't have any. Now, back to today, the straws are plastic again, but I couldn't even suck up at Reese's cups cause they don't fit through the straw. At least this time I had a fork. What a disaster. Don't get milkshakes here. 0/5 stars. "Tavern" Style Pizza Hot Honey - $17.50 - The flavor was good, but it was a soft crust pizza, definitely not tavern style at all. 3/5 stars. All of the burgers are small, like Culver's small, and you're paying 3x the price. The fries are soggy and needed salt. Train Wreck Burger - $18 - This was mine, and it was just ok, but probably better than the other two. 3/5 stars. Mushroom Swiss Burger - $16 - This one the meat tasted worse than mine. I don't know why there's different ground beef patties? 1/5 stars. Stacked Patty Melt - $16.50 - Husband got this one, and he didn't like it. He said the bread tasted stale. 1/5 stars. Just don't go here. You wanna spend about $100 for 3 people to eat? What a waste of money. Small portions, overpriced, terrible quality. Oh, and some tables are sticky, even after the hostess cleans them.

The facility is set in the back of the strip mall. There is plenty of strong signage so it is easy to find. The inside is very large. The booth seating is very comfortable. I was pleased with how clean things were at the end of a busy night. The bar was buzzing with conversation. The TV's weren't too loud. The Juke Box can be loud once it gets going. For dinner I had the wings in BBQ sauce. The wings were a moderate size. Not many small wings but none that were big. In general the wings had a moderate amount of meat to them. They were fried and bathed in sauce. The frying was appropriate. The wings were fully cooked without being dry nor too greasy. At times the wings were a bit over crispy. The BBQ sauce was really good. It had a sweet taste without a strong BBQ kick.

My husband got the Joanna's Skillet with over easy eggs and a side of pancakes, while I got the same thing but scrambled eggs. I think it might be better with over easy eggs, just because it gives you a little sauce to coat your skillet in. I don't know how they get their skillets to be so tasty, but it's fantastic and a must get when you're here. Pancakes are nice and fluffy, good amount of butter, and plenty of syrup. I think the price is around $15, but the menu is extensive, and way too much to post pictures. I do want to try the chorizo skillet and (maybe if I feel wild one day) the crepes. But it's really, really hard to not get the skillet. The food is always good here. Service was fantastic and always friendly. The place was cutely decorated with Christmas decorations. For the price, this is the best spot for breakfast/lunch.

I haven't had such good bacon & eggs in a long time. My waffle was standard, but still worth the trip. Our server even thought to bring butter without me asking, also delightful. My fiancé LOVED the country skillet. He prefers filling meals & he only got through half of the dish! That's saying a lot because he got a lot of food, delivering real value! Our server was friendly & did an excellent job with taking care of us. We cannot wait to come back to Joanna's for breakfast or brunch again!
