After trying enough food, the skillets are the way to go. They are the best tasting menu item, by far. My husband got the Joanna's Skillet with over easy eggs and a side of pancakes, while I got the same thing but scrambled eggs. I think it might be better with over easy eggs, just because it gives you a little sauce to coat your skillet in. I don't know how they get their skillets to be so tasty, but it's fantastic and a must get when you're here. Pancakes are nice and fluffy, good amount of butter, and plenty of syrup. I think the price is around $15, but the menu is extensive, and way too much to post pictures. I do want to try the chorizo skillet and (maybe if I feel wild one day) the crepes. But it's really, really hard to not get the skillet. The food is always good here. Service was fantastic and always friendly. The place was cutely decorated with Christmas decorations. My fiancé & I were looking for a new place to get breakfast yesterday & I found Joanna's online. The food looked good & they were close to us, so we decided to go. Boy, were we impressed! The service was so quick & friendly that I even got excited about being there. The restaurant is well-lit, unlike other local diners, which was nice. Our server remembered the sugar-free syrup I ordered, which went a long way for me. My eggs were so fluffy and the bacon was plentiful & substantial. I haven't had such good bacon & eggs in a long time. My waffle was standard, but still worth the trip. Our server even thought to bring butter without me asking, also delightful. My fiancé LOVED the country skillet. He prefers filling meals & he only got through half of the dish! That's saying a lot because he got a lot of food, delivering real value! This is my third time here. Once for breakfast and this time for dinner. We had the AYCE fish which is their own battered cod according to the waitress. Comes with fries and coleslaw and your choice of soup or salad for $15. The salad i got was typical side salad but it was great. Fresh ingredients and a perfect starter. The fish was amazing. Huge king pieces of cod that came out so hot you'd burn your tongue if you weren't careful and it came with tartar sauce that was perfect. The fries were typical frozen fries. The coleslaw was nothing to write home about and I didn't eat it. The fish is tender and addicting and you won't leave hungry. When you ride more fish there are 2-3 pieces and they're just as hit and fresh as the first batch. Ok the staff isn't that great. They take a long time to visit you and get refills or more fish etc. but you'll see them congregating by the drink station or in the other part of the dinning room. So there's that. The decor is dated and less desirable but you're not there for aesthetics. It's loud in there and does get very busy. I recommend for the fish and it's a local place to support. I never ever ever like to leave a bad review. I went here yesterday I walk right in the woman on the register sent me at a table and then another woman brought me a cup of water and no one else ever came back to check on me. My order was never took in. No one even asked was OK nothing I wait for a while. I was so upset because another couple came in a lady wearing blue jeans in a brown patriotic shirt and a gentleman that had some jeans in the button up shirt on and she took their order and went back to the back and she never came back to check on me. Great experience here on my birthday for breakfast. Greeted and seated quickly, waitress was over shortly after being seated. Got our drinks and told her we needed some time. Checked in with us several times b4 we were ready. Custom order for my wife and I got the "2" egg breakfast with ham, pancakes n grits. Wife just wanted 1 crepe with fresh strawberries and one egg. Well our order came and she had 3 eggs and my "2" egg breakfast came with 3 eggs perfectly down over medium. 2 good sized delightfully light and delicious pancakes and a large cup of really good grits. We consistently love Joanna's and have a great experience here each time! My all time go to fave is the Vegetable Benedict. So good!!! Another fave is the Country Fried Steak and Eggs with Gravy. This morning I tried something different...the Michigan Apple and Cheese Omelette, and was not disappointed!! My sons both love the Joanna's Chocolate Lovers Crepes, which they always ask to add to them the vanilla cream filling (otherwise the crepes will not be filled but will just come out plain with the chocolate and strawberries on top). So yummy! My husband really likes the Corned Beef Skillet, and usually orders a side of bacon to go with it. The bottom line is you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, and the customer service is great! PS...we saw a taco salad go to another table today and it looked amazing!! Moved to Fort Wayne not too long ago, and this is the best breakfast spot we've found thus far. A friendly place with good service and good, fresh food. I love omelettes, and theirs is great. Nice and fluffy and packed full of yummy ingredients (I had sausage and mushroom) and generous with the cheese. Joanna's was the very pleasant surprise I did not see coming! In Fort Wayne for the weekend recently and, as usual, we were looking for somewhere new and/or local for dinner. The hotel we were at had no dinner offerings and we'd played out most of the local eateries. Scrolling through Yelp I happened on Joanna's and it piqued my interest. It was less than two miles down the road from the hotel so off we went. Situated in what I'm guessing is relatively new strip mall, Joanna's has a humble, understated exterior. Walking up to the door you really don't see just how large this restaurant is. The hostess stand is right inside the door for getting on the list (if there is one). On this particular Friday we were seated immediately but it wasn't long before they were on a list. I'm guessing this is a pretty popular place on Fridays. The décor at Joanna's is minimal and tasteful and very much Family Dining. It doesn't overwhelm you with color and motion and blinking lights. The background music is kept at a level that allows for normal conversation. Our server was Emma and she was awesome. The menu at Joanna's is HUGE and my wife and I were having a hard time narrowing it down. Emma mentioned the All You Can Eat walleye and this is one of the very few times in 28 years of marriage that we ordered the same meal at a restaurant. There are two options, 3 pieces for $10.95 or unlimited for $13.95. Once we go our plates we were both glad we stuck with3 pieces, because this walleye was enormous...and HOLY COW, was it delicious! I don't know if it's because I hadn't had walleye in years or that it was just amazingly delicious, but this was some of the best fish I'd ever had. I'm one of those that likes both cocktail sauce and tartar sauce with his fried fish, so I was definitely enjoying the best of both worlds. I chose cole slaw as my side and that's always a gamble, but this was surprisingly good. The staff here was hoppin'! Everyone constantly in motion making sure tables were cleared, floors were clean, and food was being delivered. They do a great job of keeping things in shape, even during a busy dinner rush. Emma was an absolutely awesome server. She was always on the spot with iced tea refills (we drink a lot of tea), keeping the table clean, and even stopped long enough to have a conversation. Servers who take the time to talk to customers make dining out better. I'm looking forward to visiting Joanna's the next time we're in Fort Wayne. And I hope it's on a Friday. I'm on a diet along with my allergies I always get excited when a restaurant goes along with my special modifications to the menu item. So I ordered just some OM eggs, bacon and requested fresh strawberries. My side of pancakes I didn't get to eat but my sister enjoyed it. Everything came out fast and our server was extremely nice... Great experience with my nephews. The food was good, the portions were huge and we walked out of there at a great price. I'm personally not crazy about tile floors in restaurants. Their slippery and they make places louder and harder to hear. The bathrooms are single stalls which are ok, but they would use a little TLC. Also the signage to find the place is difficult. Being from out of town I had no idea where it was. A tiny sign on the door is all I could find. But the food was great and there were plenty of tables despite the place being clearly popular. I ordered a chef salad and it was horrible. Some of the lettuce was brown and wilted. The cucumbers were slimy, the tomatoes were hard, the egg was wrinkled, and the meat and cheese were just huge strips. I think a 5 year old could have made the salad better. Will not be returning.
