Pepper Moon Catering catered our 25-year high school reunion at Congdon Yards in downtown High Point. The food was tasty and service was good. If you're looking for a solid caterer in the Piedmont Triad region, I recommend Pepper Moon. Pepper Moon catered heavy hors d'oeuvres at the event. It was a simple setup: one long self-serve buffet of small bites. No passed trays, action stations, or anything like that. For us, it got the job done. From what I recall, we had teriyaki chicken skewers with sweet chili sauce, meatballs with marinara, biscuits (I think they were cheddar biscuits), black bean cakes with a yogurt sauce; a cubed cheese display with cheddar, Swiss, and pepper jack cheeses, grapes, berries, and assorted crackers; and a fresh fruit display with cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, grapes, and berries. There may have been a dessert/sweet as well, but I don't remember. We had a special reunion cake, but I'm not sure if it was provided by Pepper Moon. Just under 100 guests were expected, but only about half that showed up, so we had a lot of leftovers. There were boxes for us to take leftovers home. In general, the menu served was safe with several crowd-pleasers. My wife really enjoyed the food and went back for seconds. Her favorites were the meatballs (soft and moist) and black bean cakes. My go-to was the teriyaki chicken skewers. The chicken was tender and appetizing and I've been a fan of that sweet Thai chili sauce for chicken since I was little. There was a cash bar for drinks. I'm not sure if that was Pepper Moon, Congdon Yards, or another vendor. The Pepper Moon staff were formally dressed (the event was dressy casual), polite, and attentive. One of the employees was very nice to me and really made sure I was taken care of as I made my way down the buffet line the first time. I think they were expecting more guests, so they may have been a bit overstaffed. Whatever the case, they did a good job. This review is LOOOOOONG overdue. Pepper Moon catered my son's Bar Mitzvah in 2016 and went all out. The food was spectacular and the party turned out great. Since that time I've attended numerous events catered by Pepper Moon including my place of business and they never fail to deliver fantastic food, service, and sanitation standards. I do not recommend Pepper Moon. I just went to a wedding a Southern Cs in Summerfield and they have an exclusive contract for the events there. Pepper Moon botched on many fronts - They unilaterally decreased the number of full bars from two to one. And gave the lame excuse of we do not have enough tables. The wedding party found some tables so Pepper Moon could do as they promised. (NOTE they charge by guest by the hour - how convenient for them to drop the number of full bars down to ONE). We had arranged that there would be a golf cart to shuttle those that needed assistance with walking to the pavilion. Guests arrived - no cart. I had to ask 6 people for help before someone could call the cart. The cart driver drove past someone in a wheelchair and had to be halted. The staff was snappy and really needs to learn to wear smiles and graciously herd Guests. I dont think anyone staffer wanted to be there and people commented. TIME for an attitude adjustment. They just don't know how to make an event click. There was only one buffet table so getting food was SLOW! it would have made so much more sense to have two buffet tables. I think a classy touch is to have the VIP tables go first (wedding party, grooms and brides parents). They missed this touch of class. While we thought the TWO FULL bars had been resolved by schlepping (sp?) the extra tables to the venues, it was discovered they did not care, they were going to do it their way. One bar was full and the other was just beer and wine! It was immediately brought to their attention. It took an hour for them to rectify the situation. They were flippant and said they would get to it. All they needed to do was carry half the hard liquor from one corner to the other corner. At the end if the festivities it was time to light sparklers to send bride and groom down a path together to their happily after. Literally, the staffer started walking down the walkway, lighting one sparkler at a time. She should have lit 6 and interspersed them among the 70 or so guests so we could have lit the torches off one anothers'. It was painful to watch The food was OK, except the lettuce was wilted. The event planning aspects were abysmal. (Insufficient # of tables, not providing 2 FULL BARS, shutting down party early, being rude to guests). They know they have an exclusive contract and do not care they erode the brand equity if a beautiful venue.​ read more

We were planning an event at the Castle and prior to the showcase event of venues I reached out asking the preferred vendors to make shrimp & Grits as this was to be the main dish for our event and would help us determine the best caterer. PepperMoon came thru at the event and it was for sure the best! We went with them. When finally served for our actual event-it just was a complete disappointment (the upscale charcuterie and the herb chicken as well as beef medallions were great) but the showcase item was NOT edible. They forgot to cook the grits. Completely forgot, so once put together for buffet it was shrimp without the grits: the shrimp was over cooked immensely by the time (3hrs later) when the grits finally cooked. They also forgot items and I had to ask our amazing set up person (yes, only 1) to go to Walmart to get the additional pans so we could even heat the grits and shrimp on the sternums set up. I did tip him but it was embarrassing all the way around. Nothing came in warmers. We had to reheat on sternums which would have been ok if the grits were prior cooked-it took +3hrs. This was a fail. After numerous times of asking for gluten free only, thru still brought regular bread and did not comply to being GF. I'm not gonna get into this but it really isn't hard to find GF bread. Jeffrey was nice and we felt bad that he had to feel compelled to apologize for the grits and not having hot food or correct amounts of serving items. Pepper Moon catered a customer event for us last night at Crown BMW. They were nothing short of excellent. The staff was friendly and professional and the food was, for lack of a better phrase, OFF THE CHAIN. It was not only delicious, but displayed in a manner that contributed to the ambiance of the event. The catering team showed up right on time and made quick work of the set up, graciously humoring the event planners as we changed the table placement several times. Why be in business at all?? I'm baffled by businesses that don't believe in customer service. I have left phone messages and email messages to this catering company without a single reply. My family is traveling in from the West Coast for our son's college graduation and wanted to host a catered event. After not receiving a call back, I called the alternative phone number provided in their voice mail greeting. The woman, Lee responded (complained) by announcing the time I was calling. She then went on to say that she would have to "get up" for this...??(I was calling at 5 pm PST). I stated that I was attempting to call and book an event and was concerned that I hadn't heard back from anyone. She never even apologized. I quickly determined that this not the company I would want to spend money with. Horrendous attitude coupled with uncaring service equals disaster. read more

I have experienced nothing but unprofessionalism from this company. I am trying to plan an event for my boss, and Pepper Moon won't even bother to give me the time of day. I emailed them three times before I got a reply (weeks later, I might add). Ashley, who apparently is the office manager, finally replied without any sort of an apology or explanation. She asked me a few questions about the event and then said "Great I will work on a proposal and get that over to you today!" That was on February 7th. Still no proposal or replies to my emails. Needless to say, I will find a better caterer. Exclamations Catering has been very prompt in replying, sending over proposals, and answering any questions I have. Ok, after I posted my last review, I received an apology email and my receipt. I ordered from them again. Everything went great. The food looked delicious and it was delicious as always. This time there were no issues with the invoice. Furthermore, it was very easy to deal with DJ who provided me with catering ideas for a specific party that I was planning. I was a guest at a wedding recently. I had never heard of this catering company before, but was not impressed at all. The staff was rude, particularly the bartenders, and acted as though it was a chore to serve the guests. Everyone seemed to have an attitude. They also messed up some of the details of the catering and then acted like it was going to be a burden on them to fix it. The food was subpar and was chaotically laid out. Not a good presentation. I would not recommend them, nor would I use them for any event in the future. read more

my husband and I went to a 50 year anniversary party for olive rubber company on sat. oct. 15th,2016 in Asheboro,nc. the food they served sucked. they could have served a bigger and better variety of food besides pulled pork sandwiches, pinto beans and vinegar cole slaw and they served water, lemonade and watered down sweet tea. People who want to hire Pepper Moon should have been at the breakfast they catered at the Guilford County school I work at. Granted it was continental-style, but really, with only three categories, couldn't you have done better? The sausage biscuits were inedible, more like hockey pucks in cold hard bread, the fruit was anemic-looking, and the danish looked like those you buy in a corner service station. Maybe because it was teachers, you know, those people who prepare your children, and not BMW, it was like, so what. Truly shameful. If you can't present an attractive, delicious meal for the hardest working people in Guilford County, shame on you. read more
