Mike was wonderful and did a great job you can taste test any sauces in the store and he was very knowledgeable about their products and recommendations. We also purchased the hummus salsa and devoured it right away so it is not pictured but highly recommended too! They have a wide variety of products and Scoville heat scales for the brave there is some really extreme sauces. read more

Fuck yes. This is a store that speaks to me. I love all things spice and scoville, so when my cousin-in-law said there was a "hot sauce store" in Pier Park, I was like "WE MUST GO THERE!". Pepper Palace did not disappoint! I walked in the front door, and was immediately amazed. SO. MUCH. HOT. SAUCE. *drool* I did a loop around the store, and then started asking the guy working the counter a ton of questions. He had plenty of knowledge about the products on offer, and very much encouraged me to try to as many as I wanted to... they offer complimentary chips in which to try almost every sauce they have available. I tried around 20 or so different sauces, and started putting bottles near the register for later. Early on, I had asked about the scoville rating for a number of the sauces, and though he couldn't quote exact numbers, he gave ballparks. I would say his judgement was pretty accurate, as all the ones I tried were pretty close to how hot he said they'd be. Then he pointed out a small, unsuspecting looking black bottle with the words "The End" on it. Somehow, being so overwhelmed by the amount of hot sauce, I had walked right past the flashing red police light stationed near this little bottle. He told me that this was by far the hottest sauce in the store, and that IF I wanted to try it, I'd have to sign a waiver. Wow. Waiver? NOW you have my attention. After sampling everything first and making some decisions, I decided to sign the waiver and try The End. I had watched a young girl come in and try it before me, and she seemed to handle it well enough (though I saw how much he put on her chip... a tiny drop). It looked like it lit her up pretty good though. The guy behind the counter said "you seem to know your way around hot stuff, so I'll let you put as much as you want", and he handed me a little squeeze bottle of The End. On the side, it had a rating system that read something like "1 drop - amateur, 2 drops - tough guy, etc... 5 drops - are you insane?". Of course, I put 5 drops on my chip. The sauce was a pool about the size of a nickel. And I ate it. Guy wasn't kidding. It's hot. Really hot. I got the usual head sweats, and my mouth was on fire. I've eaten sauces in the 2.5 million range, so I knew what I was getting into. Then it hit my stomach. Dear God... I have never felt a flaming pit in my stomach from hot sauce like that before. I was leaning against the counter with 2 hands, just breathing, and my cousin kept asking me "are you ok?"... I just had to wait it out. I felt like I had been punched in the stomach, and could yak at any time. But I didn't! Eventually, after about 15 minutes, my stomach calmed down and we were able to purchase our hot sauces and head out. Later that evening, we were in the neighborhood so I popped back in before closing to buy a bottle of The End. The cashier said "wow, you're back! I didn't think you'd want some after earlier!". :) I definitely loved what Pepper Palace is all about. The gentleman helping me through this whole visit was awesome, and I was glad to find out about this place. Even better, you can order any of their sauces online! Yahtzee! What a fun little store to go in!! Soooo many free samples to try and a very knowledgeable clerk able to answer any questions. Cashier was so friendly :) even 6 year old daughter had fun in this store! Took a trip to Panama City Beach area and stopped into Pepper Palace. There was a great selection of sauces and seasonings. Not all were hot and i made a purchase. The woman managing the store was great to talk with and gave some really good recommendations in the area. This place is an interesting concept with walls upon walls of all the hot sauces you could possibly imagine. I had a great time just looking at all the variety and reading all the funky names and labels, but if possible, this place had almost too much to offer. There's a sampling station near the central counter where you can taste a few of their own sauces and salsas. As a big fan of sauces and salsas, I wanted to desperately purchase something, but with some salsas costing $9, I decided to skip. Otherwise, I like the concept! read more

This is one of the stores along Pier Park that my friend wanted to stop by again to restock on his favorite - "the world's hottest hot sauce" made with ghost chili peppers. It's definitely KILLER! It has a very nice flavor to it and it doesn't hit you at first, but when it does, the heat lingers for quite some time. This place was pretty cool. They have free samples of a lot of things in the store, so it makes purchasing decisions a lot easier.
