I was immediately greeted by the friendliest employee (Bill, I think, perhaps even the owner), who showed the layout of the store to me and how you can open the big jars and smell all the different spices. He offered suggestions on using different ones in different recipes - things that I would not have even thought of. I was left to roam and take it all in. A younger employee also checked in and made sure I was taken care of. Both were super polite and very knowledgeable. They take pride in their product, and that's amazing. I am not kidding when I say - SO MANY SPICES!!! I regret not buying some of the ones i was really looking at, but I walked out with a Hawaiian red salt (which I have been unable to find since I was in Hawaii years ago), a lime salt which would be good on Asian dishes, grilled chicken, maybe ground taco beef, and in margaritas, and a Tuscan blend that took me straight back to an Italian cafe where I enjoyed bread, oil, and spices for hours. There is a newer dill pickle one that would be great to add some flavor to deviled eggs or chicken salad (kicking myself I didn't grab that). Now, I'm not really a tea person, but some ladies walked in who looked like either regulars or they had been there quite a few times recently. Bill immediately had suggestions for them and some cold tea samples. His demeanor with the customers all through the store just showed that he is invested in ensuring you walk out with what you want.
