ADA Service Dog Policy Violation To Whom It May Concern, As my family and I attempted to enter your establishment with my service dog, we were denied service by a cashier. The employee stated "no dogs allowed." I informed her that my dog is a service animal, to which she demanded to see "tags" for both me and my dog. I showed her my dog's vest, but she insisted that documentation and tags were required. When I explained that the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) does not require tags, special identification, or paperwork, she dismissed this, stating that her daughter is a veterinarian so she "knows." This interaction was discriminatory and demonstrates a clear lack of ADA compliance. Under the ADA: * When it is not obvious what service an animal provides, staff may only ask two questions: 1. Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? 2. What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? * Staff cannot: * Ask about the person's disability * Require medical documentation * Require a special identification card, tags, or training documentation * Ask the dog to demonstrate its trained tasks Additionally, service animals must be permitted in all areas of a facility where the public is allowed to go. The only exceptions for removal are if the animal is out of control and the handler does not take effective action, or if the animal is not housebroken. In this case, neither exception applied. Instead, I was prevented from entering the establishment altogether, which is a direct violation of federal law and my rights as an individual with a disability. There are several great things about Carousel. First, the name, "Carousel", I hear Carousel and I think Paris, my childhood, having it all, surprises, fun, etc... Second, they are just a few hundred yards for the water. You park there (on the road) and then walk down to the beach. My wife and I have done this weekly since we moved from Miami. The wine collection the entire variety of food in the market is just perfect. They are not a gigantic store, but they carry everything you need, for any occasion. Pricing is just as competitive, some time better than regular grocery stores. They even have BOGOs. Lastly, the people that work there are nice and attentive, but also the patrons make it nice and Socially pleasant. The ambience is just so nice, some times we just go there to see what's going on. One more, very important fact... Liquor store next door. It just doesn't get any better. That's Carousel for making our community better! read more

This locally owned store was recommended to me by a friend, so I headed over there to check it out. It reminds me of a lot of locally owned stores around - a little higher priced, some local goods, and some specialty items. They had a fresh chicken salad that reminded me of some I can get of home, and then some other deli goods and things. I roamed the store, but did notice the uptick in prices there, and I didn't know if we would get to enjoy all of them, so I refrained. There is a cute gift store attached with very reasonably priced housewares and souvenirs, mostly coastal themed. The employee there was very nice and welcoming. I didn't feel compelled to purchase any of the items, but there were some platters and some cute plates and bowls that I was really drawn to. Once I grabbed a few items to take back with me, I went to check out, and that's where everything went downhill fast. I wasn't greeted by either employee there - they were involved in a very detailed conversation about another employee who is apparently a "Sh** disturber" and who needs to be fired bc she gets in everyone's business and tells everyone, and she apparently took some time off which really ticked one lady off. She even paused at one point to stress something to the other employee again. Once I paid and got my bag, their conversation continued - no acknowledgement or thank you or even eye contact. So unfortunately, that is the impression that I am left with of Carousel. I won't be back on future trips to the shore. read more

My wife and I were staying in Panama City Beach and took a three mile walk to a grocery store we had been to about 3 weeks ago that we really liked. They had good prices for beer and a nice produce selection and a cool little gift shop with a bathroom off to the side. My wife liked their selection of Chex Mix, her favorite food, I got some Terrapin beer from Athens, Georgia. The service the two times I have been have been great, super friendly staff! I think this is a very convenient store for me but unfortunately, it lacks diversity.. I am unsure as to why every time I enter this establishment I am followed by workers.. It cracks me up, someone even went as far as running out the store as they thought I left without paying.. Love is way more prevalent then hate, with the prices that you all are charging you all should be alot nicer to those of us who have melanin and come to your store an make purchases.. Moving forward I would rather walk to Winn Dixie, Aldi's or Publix just to save the disparagement.. I live in this neighborhood and pay bills the same as you unlike the tourist who are just here for a split second.. If in future I decided to come in to pick up an item or too, I am hoping you all have updated your diversity training.. As a new local I love the Carousel! Amazing amazing customer service and friendly employees! Honestly the store could be a wreck and the customer service is on point BUT it is a clean and trending supermarket! I love being able to just do a quick hop in the car and be back home without getting caught up in Publix! (Love Publix but sometimes it too much). I also love that if you have a must have item they will entertain bring it in and keeping it in. My Dad's favorite wine is always on the shelves. And that gift store is Devine!!!! I have been going to the Carousel since it opened when I was a child. It has gone through many changes throughout the years. This place is a great grocery store with everything you could possibly need including fresh vegetables, nice meat and the BEST CHICKEN around. The person working the lottery counter in the mornings is consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Instead of providing basic customer service, they act as if helping customers is a burden. They are short-tempered, unwilling to answer simple questions, and make the whole interaction unnecessarily unpleasant. This is the best, cleanest little market on this end of the beach. The prices were very comparable to other local stores. Being locally owned I would much rather shop here, even if I had to spend a dollar or so more. The cashiers and stock hell were friendly and helpful. The selection of stock was also very good. Great grocery store that everything you want with some really fresh reasonably priced fresh vegetables. It's much quicker to get in and out than Winn Dixie. The gift shop has cute stuff if you are in town and visiting and want to pickup something nice rather than cheesy things from Sunsations. The wine selection is my favorite, lots of options for every budget. Think of this as a watered down fresh market but locally owned. Plan for it to be busy on Holiday weekends. We have been vacationing in the area and I've seen the signs for the store on the way to the big box chain stores to pick up groceries and decided to stop by. It is a beautifully located store right across from the water that has an excellent selection of food items as well as a very cute boutique attached to it. I also noticed a nice selection of beach chairs, umbrellas, and toys, along with sunscreen if any of those are needed for a trip to the beach.Their wine and beer selection was large and I appreciated being able to grab a sampler of some local ales for our group. They also have a very small deli section with premade items and I was able to grab some dips and crackers for snacks. This will be my go to market on future vacations. It's nice to support a local business, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. read more

This is a great place to shop. The grocery store has great produce and good meats, and the prices are not bad. It's convenient to where we stay in PCB, but I also like that it isn't such a huge store to navigate and find things. They have a fantastic array of fine wines, if you are a wine lover, but I bought a whole case of Gallo Cabernet for under $50, since I am not a connoisseur! My best experience so far has been at the gift shop, though. About three weeks ago, I had bought a pair of sunglasses. Yesterday they broke, so I went back to buy a new pair. When I happened to mention that they had broken and that I had bought them there, the woman who waited on me offered me a credit, even though I did not have a receipt. What great customer service! Carousel Supermarket is a 1960s, multi-generational, family-owned gem!! The wine department is the BEST is the Southeast. Unbelievable selection at a very low price point. All your grocery needs can be found here. The icing on the cake is their high-caliber, boutique shop that includes a cute collection of clothes for women and little girls, jewelry, decor, art, locally-themed t-shirts, hats and beach toys. Love supporting old-school, vintage Florida businesses. When in the back of the grocery and in the boutique, look up to see scores of black and white photos of the area in the 50s and 60s.
